'Tis the Season - Hit (Give) the Beveled Guilt Button

Mates,

It occurs to me that given the exorbitant user fees we pay for this site we still might be tempted to give a bit for the cause.  When you think about it, this place is better than all the newpaper subscriptions you cancelled at $30/mo, better than nearly all of the 'premium' sites that spread football/college sports info.

For our favorite site, most of us checking it and posting daily or nearly so, we pay nada.  Brian and others who run it and provide great content and get virtually nothing from us, save for possibly some ad revenue.  If you have adblocker, your/my/our user benefits are even less tangible to them.  Maybe, just maybe, we could find it in our hearts to get past being:

What's it going to be for you, the Grinch, or the jolly old elf?  Wouldn't take too much, especially en masse.  Give it a try.

Merry Christmas,

past year and which provider did you purchase from? Was there a marketplace to choose from different fire service providers? Did you go with the 5 min fire department response time service plan or the 15 minute?

That's what I thought, dumb analogy that doesn't work, nobody said end all taxation and civil services (well okay, a few hardline libertarians DO say this)  but keep trying with those straw men.

Brian, you should take ChadTough as an example, and set a benchmark of donation revenue for us to surpass in order for you to actually fix these viruses and finally update this site at a pace faster than an old sloth. I love you guys and wish you a Merry Christmas, and I thank you for all your work as always, but the viruses have started to make META a new level of ridiculous.

and we simply don't have it, not any of it.  thus, based on my detailed knowledge about all things computer related (read:  how do you turn this on?), i'd say the problem is...the user.

seriously, we don't have anything tricky with virus protection and none on my phone but have yet to experience any problems.  could be a specific operating platform or browser is susceptible?

The virus, re-direct, mallware issue is very real.  On my phone (galaxy 8) if I leave the tab open with mGoBlog I get a redirect that informs me that my phone has been dangerously infected by the "4 virus" which i probably got from going to dangerous adult sites BUT can be taken care of if I buy this great phone virus cleaner from Playstore.

If I'm on my desktop at work and leave the tab open it redirects to a page informing me that I've won some gift cards from Wallmart OR I need to buy a virus cleaner from Microsoft.  Every. Damn. Time.

The problem is very real and has basically stopped me from using MGoblog on my phone and signficantly curtailed my visits on my desktop.  I've started a thread and informed Seth (he said they are trying to fix the problem) but as recently as this morning it happened again.

Love this place but this has to get fixed.   And like others said, I have the desire to help fix it financialy if I knew that's where the money was going and how much it cost.

i'm just saying that if a computer loser like me can avoid it, then you and so many others on this site that are way far advanced past me can figure something out.  we haven't taken any significant virus protection measures other than maybe malwarebytes and whatever comes with the browser and i've not seen it once.

incidentally, maybe the next thread up, the 'air your grievances' thread is the place for your (and others) understandable issue with this stuff.

Regardless of what they pull in here via ads or any other avenue, it's pretty damn obvious the free content we receive here is pretty damn good or we wouldn't be here so damn often. I do need my brances shook occasionally though and thank you for doing so.

This I'll take care of in the morrow and because I'll probably be late with this as well, I'll shout out a great holiday season to all my blue brothers prematurely and hell yes, GO BLUE!!!! and prep for 2018 because you're absolutely going to love it.

And what happened, then? Well, in Whoville they say - that the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day. And then - the true meaning of Christmas came through, and the Grinch found the strength of *ten* Grinches, plus two!
