I heard Willis has a cold
Was set to pitch but he apparently has the flu.
Willis has "flu-like symptoms", so Thomas gets the start. Just saw it on tigers.mlb.com.
boesh with a two run single in the first and jackson with an rbi groundout in the second. and just now texiera hits a two run homer to make it 3-2
It will be great when we get guillen back, but boesh has really impressed recently. He's racked up 13 RBIs in the last few weeks
Willis has now missed 2 starts due to illness. Figaro and Galaragga are pitching well in Toledo, I would not be surprised to see one of those two called up
I, for one, welcome our new Yankee overlords.
OT, (about baseball though) i just heard Ken Griffey Jr. couldn't pinch hit because he was getting a nap during a game last week.

In his younger days Griffey could hit in his sleep; I guess those days are over
Why did they just pull Thomas? I'm watching the game cast so I can't hear the reason.
70+ pitches, he's a long reliever, someone said during the broadcast that he was going to pitch around 75 pitches tonight, too bad he had to throw so many so quick
Since he wasn't prepared to start, I'm assuming that 70 pitches was about enough for him to go being a long reliever.
Announcers said Thomas was on a 70? pitch count, plus he wasn't looking too sharp, I think Leyland had seen enough.
I have a bad feeling about holding onto this lead with steady Eddie looking at some long relief innings here.
That said, I really hope I'm wrong. And as I type this, he lays some filth on Jeter to strike him out. Eddie!
I hope we see Phil Coke
you don't want to see the Coke Dealer! You'll be sorry that you visit him
That homer had to be sweet for Damon
Nice Jhonny!
You'll probably take tonight and light up Javier "BP" Vasquez tomorrow. Then Hughes and CC will even it up and we'll part ways with a split.
Granted that Verlander has been kind of a rollercoaster until now this season, i can actually see him beating CC thursday, when JV is on he can beat anyone and a game in May gives you more than enough time to tune up your pitches... this is like AA the only game you have to care about is tonight's game, tomorrow i'll worry about tomorrow's
Damon has been a force so far this year. Where is all the Johnny Damon haters now?
Apparently Willis had a temp of 101 today.
I would have LOVED to hear Paul Carey call PBP for just one hitter.
Which brings a musing question to my mind:
With the first throw coming from the batter's box, and with each ensuing throw coming from the spot at which the previous one came to rest, how many throws would it take Damon to get a baseball over the fence.
(This of course assumes that no other players make diving cut-offs of any of his throws.)
This is not a very imposing Yankee lineup, I see no reason we don't sweep, get out the brooms boys
This post is to an OT Tigers thread as premature ejaculation is to sex.
Is it just me or do they kind of look alike?
Minor or Miner?? to me Zack Miner and Eddie Bonnine kinda look alike, Minor and Bonnine not so much, to much white in Bonnine's skin i guess
If you are going to nitpick about spelling names, I suppose you should also use the correct form of "too."
Nope at all, but with this being a M forum my first tought was Brandon Minor that was all
You realize you botched the spelling of Eddie Bonine's last name right? Good call.
FWIW It's Zach, not Zack and Bonine, not Bonnine. ;-)
I agree.
Zoom Zoom Zoom, I will always stick around to see Zumaya pitch
Time to bring the heat. I know its early in the season, but don't you think that Joel has to be in the talks for comeback player of the year?
Yanks leave em loaded.
Boesch scares the shit out of me in Left
Howeva I love watch in him hit, that kid I think is going to be a stud.
I agree he scares me in left, but if he keeps hitting like this, he can do whatever the hell he wants out there.
Wow. Boesch absolutely jackhammered that ball into the alley. Good grief.
Do not send Brendan Boesch back to the minor leagues. k thanx
Hey Zeus Cristo that was a rocket by Boesch
Boesch has been an absolute beast. Keep hitting like that and I'll be fine if we don't see Guillen again.
Don't think I agree with Leyland use of Zumaya tonight. I know they didn't really hit Zumaya hard but I think that was a bit much to ask of Joel
I agree, Gordie. I was in the other room and assumed that another pitcher was in for the 8th.
...with a web gem to end the threat.
Is it okay to open our eyes now?
Makes me laugh. I love this guy. Dancing around all over the place. 1 more batter! lets go Jose!
These Valverde antics are ridiculous. Save it for the end of the game.
...gets Swisher swinging and Teixeira looking. Two out, A-Rod up to bat to try to keep NYY alive.
