SIAP: Early Enrollees?

Submitted by Harbaugh's Lef… on

With the first Early Signing period a few days away, do we know any of the Early Enrollees expected, other than Joe Milton?

Najee Harris is a good counter-example. As for the others, holding off on an announcement to get attention doesn't mean the recruit hasn't decided on his destination earlier. Various "experts" have been known to say they know where a recruit is headed but won't tell us because he deserves to tell people in his own way.

Okay maybe only in the most technical sense where enrolled means you're actually on campus and taking classes and signed just means you're getting ready to do that.

When a kid signs on the dotted line of his LOI, he's in. Game over for other schools, no more last-minute recruiting pitches. That communication ends.

It will be interesting to see if the entire class signs on Wednesday, most notably Otis Reese. He tweeted a picture today of him in Michigan gear, which probably mean nothing, but will be interesting to see what this week brings with him.

Yes Sherrer left for Tennessee. Though that probably improves the chances UT may have. Also, I think UGA doesn’t have room for Reese. So that helps.

And I think the main competition for Friday is Ohio State, as they’ve gotten several crystal ball predictions for him.

I think Michigan can win both of these.

There are 8 CBs to U-M for Friday in the last month including Isaiah Hole, Wiltfong and Ace as well as 4 OSU recruiting analysts. The only outlier is one OSU pick from a guy named Brian Dohn from Scout and another Rutgers pick from way back in January. This recruitment certainly appears to be trending our way. This would be a great pick up at a position of need.

are inversely related to their odds of landing Channing Tindall. They play the same position and UGA reportedly only has room for one of them. UGA has gotten a flood of crystal balls for him lately, replacing former leader S Car. Most of those picks have been made since the ones that had Reese flipping to UGA.

Any word on whether Reese plans to take a visit to U-M? From what I understand, his HS team made a deep run into the playoffs and has played every weekend except for one when U-M was playing on the road. 247 doesn't show an official visit for him yet. Ace said in a recent podcast that if we are able to get Otis on campus again then we should be in pretty good shape with him. I think Tindall trending to UGA could also be a good sign.

So it will be awhile before we can get him up for a visit. I suspect Ace is right. If Reese comes up here, we should be in very good shape.

One little tidbit is that a player we were looking at to potentially take his spot is Jamien Sherwood, an Auburn commit that is looking around. He was scheduled to visit last weekend and went to Louisville the week before. I don't think he made it up here and I haven't heard who cancelled the visit.

What's the insider's word on Reese?  UGA fans seem very confident and we are behing in the all important Crystal Ballz 70% for UGA, 30% for UM. UGA fans say he's already told their coaches he is coming to Georgia.

Have we ever trailed in the Ballz by this much for a kid already committed to us?

Also, he's a late signee, I know he's visiting UGA in January, visiting us too I assume?
