META: Subhead change? Board search?
When did the subhead change? Wayback Machine has it as "Do not be decieved" at least through 11/1, but by 12/1 "it's Michigan, and it's beautiful here, and everything sucks". OSU game? Maybe in my grief/anger/apathy/whatever, I missed discussion of this? The new quote is apparently form BoJack Horseman: The Old Sugarman Place [S04E02] (and, yes, I'm old, I had to goolge BoJack Horseman to find out what the hell it was--a web comedy series, for others as old and out of touch as me).
Also, is it just me or does the Google Site Search not work...? I was trying to google the Board about the subhead... Is there any way other than just browsing to search for old threads?

it's called Netflix, dad

the "*Won a free IPOD*" pop up ad needs to be fixed. It is irresponsible not to.
There was a post about it a week ago. I hadnt experienced it myself then but I have now and can no longer visit the site on my phone.
December 18th, 2017 at 12:01 AM ^
Also though you should watch Bojack Horseman.
December 18th, 2017 at 12:06 AM ^
Perhaps it was more recent and had to do with the cold and snowy weather ?

Maybe invite him over to show him how to Netflix and chill?
December 18th, 2017 at 7:35 AM ^
Teach him how to use The Facebook while you're at it.

where it was written as "Netflicks". I'm old, but at least I know where to find Stranger Things.

Meanwhile I can barely read a board post without winning a free iPod x or $1000
December 18th, 2017 at 1:37 AM ^
For me it's "your OS needs to be cleaned" (or some sh*t like that). Happens at least 6 times a day. MGO is the only site this happens with
* It literally happened again as I was trying to create this post. Had to close out the tab and start over

Use a different browser, took care of the problem for me
December 18th, 2017 at 7:47 AM ^
This is a problem that needs to be fixed. The fact that MGoBlog is taking money to advertise people who want to trick you into letting them hack your computer is terrible. Is any amount of ad revenue worth being responsible for letting someone’s bank account get hacked?
December 18th, 2017 at 7:55 AM ^
So you want to complain about it but not take the incredibly easy fix to solve the problem? Getting your bank account hacked is a terrible thing but you aren't willing to simply download an app to prevent it?
December 18th, 2017 at 8:03 AM ^
If you download an app and forget about it that’s good for you. But what about new users? What about people who aren’t as familiar with technology? This will drive those people off the board. If I visited MGoBlog for the first time and got a virus pop-up ad, I would assume it was a bad website and wouldn’t visit it again.
December 18th, 2017 at 8:01 AM ^
You're really going to blame a website for you being too foolish to protect your own data? For you being foolish enough to follow some goofy link and give it your data?
Stop being an asshat.
December 18th, 2017 at 8:05 AM ^
You realize that those ads are targeted towards people who AREN’T familiar with technology?
December 18th, 2017 at 9:25 AM ^
You don't have to be familiar with technology to realize that you shouldn't be giving away the details to your checking account. Seriously, stoopid people are stoopid, and that can't be fixed. Jebus, take some responsibility...
December 18th, 2017 at 11:26 AM ^
Stop being an asshat. There's nothing wrong with objecting to phishing attempts.
Unless you are soe kind of Russian bot that wants to make phishing okay because it only effects "stoopid people."
December 18th, 2017 at 8:14 AM ^
Asshat? Multiple users have brought this issue up and there hasn’t been a response. I have safari which has the error about 80% of the time I click on a thread. I also have chrome which just recently started having the issue. Should I download a third browser for the site?
Seth or someone should look into this, it’s an issue.
December 18th, 2017 at 8:51 AM ^
Switch to google’s browser.
December 18th, 2017 at 8:42 AM ^
Woah now, no need for name calling. All of us here on this pop-up thread-jack has at least 2 things in common we can bond over: a love of Michigan and apparently a similar taste in porn.
December 18th, 2017 at 9:22 AM ^
The problem was solved.
December 18th, 2017 at 9:31 AM ^
what he does. He either begins or ends nearly all of his posts with some kind of personal attack or insult. People just ignore. Carry on.
December 18th, 2017 at 8:39 AM ^
It wasn’t just me.
December 18th, 2017 at 9:22 AM ^
I started a thread on this last week cause I didnt know if it was just me or not and clearly there is a problem here. I've told both Brian & Seth about it but not sure where things stand in regards to a fix.
Candidly I cant visit the site anymore on my phone. When I do I get the damn "your phone is dangerously infected with the 4 virus which you probably got from visiting adult websites. If you want your phone to still work you need to download our ap and clean your phone."
Two major problems with that. One, I dont visit adult websites and two, not sure the wifey would believe that if she was looking at my phone when that damn pop-up appears. So I dont visit MgoBlog on my pnone anymore - just on my desktop and just here at work.
December 18th, 2017 at 9:33 AM ^
This is a much simpler, less costly, and less invasive solution.
December 18th, 2017 at 9:39 AM ^
website change-over can't come soon enough. Just looking at this site now, it has gone from current to dated to kind-of-cool-retro, to just bad, and now it is pushing creepy. It is far superior in content to really any other sports blog I have ever read, but it looks like Atari when other sites with far fewer readers and visitors look like PS4. Not complaining, I still love the site, but if I were new to it right now and looked at it for a few minutes I would probably not return either because the format of the site is simply not intuitive per current standards or out of fear of harm to my device.
December 18th, 2017 at 11:24 AM ^
Isn't Seth's job as the business manager of this site to take care of items like this?
Brian is my favorite read on anything sports related, but the management of this site is terrible. It's frustrating as I, as well as many others on here want bigger and better things for the talented writer Brian and his staff.
The lack of response on issues brought up is mind boggling.
December 18th, 2017 at 4:02 AM ^
Now where were we? Oh yeah. The important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time.

And I just won a free Amazon gift card! Seriously though — how is this happening in 2017?
December 18th, 2017 at 7:30 AM ^
Almost makes me stop coming here.....almost.
December 18th, 2017 at 7:35 AM ^
Agreed. These ads will drive away new users. Something needs to be done.
December 18th, 2017 at 8:05 AM ^
Are you talking about the ads that come on the sidebars? Or are they popping up front and center on your page? Becuase if tis the sidebar, I don't even know how you're seeing them! I pay no attention to those and have no clue what they're saying most of the time. There is the occasional picture of an attractive young lady in a short dress that catches my attention, but who cares?
December 18th, 2017 at 8:21 AM ^
Just in case anyone was wondering.
Also, my dad can beat up your dad.
December 18th, 2017 at 8:24 AM ^
Do you have a cell phone with a default browser? If so, visit this site and click around on threads. You will quickly find out that you’re the winner of a $1,000 gift card when the pop up takes over your screen and browser.
December 18th, 2017 at 9:30 AM ^
I use the app on my cell phone, and have never seen a popup ad on it. I haven't looked at the actual web page on the phone, though, only from a desktop/laptop. I use Safari or Chrome, sometimes IE, but still have never seen a popup on those. Now that I've mentioned it, though, Murphy's Law will surely kick in...
If there are popups, yeah, I'll agree that those would be a serious PITA and should be removed.
December 18th, 2017 at 9:58 AM ^
and I've never gotten a pop-up "you've got virus" ad. It's only happened on my laptop, and hasn't been frequent anyhow.

On the whole, I'll take Arizona.

December 18th, 2017 at 10:09 AM ^
Without a doubt. Arizona is still largely undiscovered.

They're Michigan fans, they understand.
December 18th, 2017 at 9:14 AM ^
Possibly not, but then again, it does put people in the correct mindset when they read discussion on at least a few subjects around here, so if there is anything positive to be read into that, it is that it is blunt honesty of a certain variety.
December 18th, 2017 at 10:03 AM ^
I did wonder if it was an oblique criticism of some of the commentary on the board. If so, I'd have to admit it's not inappropriate....
