META: Subhead change? Board search?

Submitted by atticusb on

When did the subhead change?  Wayback Machine has it as "Do not be decieved" at least through 11/1, but by 12/1 "it's Michigan, and it's beautiful here, and everything sucks".  OSU game?  Maybe in my grief/anger/apathy/whatever, I missed discussion of this?  The new quote is apparently form BoJack Horseman: The Old Sugarman Place [S04E02] (and, yes, I'm old, I had to goolge BoJack Horseman to find out what the hell it was--a web comedy series, for others as old and out of touch as me).

Also, is it just me or does the Google Site Search not work...? I was trying to google the Board about the subhead...  Is there any way other than just browsing to search for old threads?

So you want to complain about it but not take the incredibly easy fix to solve the problem? Getting your bank account hacked is a terrible thing but you aren't willing to simply download an app to prevent it?

If you download an app and forget about it that’s good for you. But what about new users? What about people who aren’t as familiar with technology? This will drive those people off the board. If I visited MGoBlog for the first time and got a virus pop-up ad, I would assume it was a bad website and wouldn’t visit it again.

You're really going to blame a website for you being too foolish to protect your own data?  For you being foolish enough to follow some goofy link and give it your data?

Stop being an asshat.

Asshat? Multiple users have brought this issue up and there hasn’t been a response. I have safari which has the error about 80% of the time I click on a thread. I also have chrome which just recently started having the issue. Should I download a third browser for the site?

Seth or someone should look into this, it’s an issue.

I started a thread on this last week cause I didnt know if it was just me or not and clearly there is a problem here.  I've told both Brian & Seth about it but not sure where things stand in regards to a fix.

Candidly I cant visit the site anymore on my phone.  When I do I get the damn "your phone is dangerously infected with the 4 virus which you probably got from visiting adult websites.  If you want your phone to still work you need to download our ap and clean your phone."

Two major problems with that.  One, I dont visit adult websites and two, not sure the wifey would believe that if she was looking at my phone when that damn pop-up appears.  So I dont visit MgoBlog on my pnone anymore - just on my desktop and just here at work.

website change-over can't come soon enough.  Just looking at this site now, it has gone from current to dated to kind-of-cool-retro, to just bad, and now it is pushing creepy.  It is far superior in content to really any other sports blog I have ever read, but it looks like Atari when other sites with far fewer readers and visitors look like PS4.  Not complaining, I still love the site, but if I were new to it right now and looked at it for a few minutes I would probably not return either because the format of the site is simply not intuitive per current standards or out of fear of harm to my device.

Isn't Seth's job as the business manager of this site to take care of items like this?

Brian is my favorite read on anything sports related, but the management of this site is terrible.  It's frustrating as I, as well as many others on here want bigger and better things for the talented writer Brian and his staff.

The lack of response on issues brought up is mind boggling.

Are you talking about the ads that come on the sidebars?  Or are they popping up front and center on your page?  Becuase if tis the sidebar, I don't even know how you're seeing them!  I pay no attention to those and have no clue what they're saying most of the time.  There is the occasional picture of an attractive young lady in a short dress that catches my attention, but who cares?

I use the app on my cell phone, and have never seen a popup ad on it.  I haven't looked at the actual web page on the phone, though, only from a desktop/laptop.  I use Safari or Chrome, sometimes IE, but still have never seen a popup on those.  Now that I've mentioned it, though, Murphy's Law will surely kick in...

If there are popups, yeah, I'll agree that those would be a serious PITA and should be removed.

Without a doubt. Arizona is still largely undiscovered.

it's Michigan, and it's beautiful here, and everything sucks

I cannot appreciate the beauty of snow any more for more than a fleeting instant, and I certainly understand the feeling of the new subhead.
