Penn Sttate frat hazing death

Just read about the grand jury’s harsh admonition of Penn State , shockingly, PSU’s response is pathetic. Read it for yourself.

I don’t understand this generalized labeling of an entire institution based on the actions of individuals who have been removed from the situation. I’m considering online education for a masters degree and the PSU program is on my list and what happened doesn’t remotely impact my decision. It’s still a very well respected school.

Because while the individual perpetrators have been removed, the student body, administration, and school community in general are still very strongly supporting and in favor of said perpetrators and continue to advocate for them, to the detriment of the victims.  There are obviously individual students, alums, faculty, and administrators who want nothing to do with the child rape scandal and vigorously denounce everyone involve, but a large percentage (if not a majority, but certainly a vocal minority if not) are apologists for what happened and show no remorse or sorrow to the victims.

Nobody is saying you can't get a great education there, or that they're not academically respected.  But the culture of the school is incredibly toxic still, and the systemic problems that resulted in Sandusky raping children for 30 years are still very much present, even if some/all of the individuals aren't.

Well that I agree with. I live in the Baltimore area and there are a lot of PSU fans around. I drove past a car the other day with a “JOEPA” license plate which I found to be extremely distasteful and was shocked that even existed.

I view that more on the individual than the institution but if the institution either fosters that mindset or is primarily made up of individuals with that mindset than I completely agree.
