The good thing is, he can learn and recover from this incident. I always hate seeing kids with great opportunities ahead of them do stuff like this. Hopefully there are some role-model teammates who are helping him out / mentoring him right now. It looks like he hasn’t been hanging around with people who are good influences on him.

Actually, while I hate to defend a former Spartan, Malik was correct on one thing...

Article 9, Section 7, Line 4, of the U.S. Tax Code (Revised 2011) does in fact state that, "If an individual pays more than $1,000,000 in taxes during any given fiscal year, individual shall obtain an exclusive, non-transferable right to call all female police officers (regardless of jurisdiction) a "bitch," during that and the subsequent fiscal year. The individual cannot be arrested for said offense."

If an African-American man calls another African-American man "n*gga" as MM did in the video, are those "fighting words" as the police officer said?  Undoubtedly, if a caucasian had uttered those words, that's a much clearer case.  This is a serious question, and I suppose the answer might be dictated by the context in which the word is uttered.

I have friends and work with many people of differing backgrounds but only came across this exact subject once.  Hopefully this subject is not too taboo to have appropriate discussion about.

Waiting tables while in college, a server I worked with used the word in a derogatory way when she got a bad tip from a family she was waiting on.  She said it with  a hard "r" on the end.  I was surprised to hear it and asked her about it. She responded, "There are black people and there are n******. Those people were n******."  I was living in TN at the time, so it could be regional.

Disclaimer: I am a white male.

In Seattle?!? Let's run down the DL he's in a room with every day: Frank Clark (nope), Michael Bennett (not going there), Sheldon Richardson (arrested for going 140 mph with a child, a loaded handgun and weed in is car) and Quinton Jefferson (tried to get in the stands and fight fans). He's more likely to have good mentors if he gets sentenced to jail time. Fuck the Seahawks.

While I agree with your assessment with the other players, I don’t know that Bennett deserves to be grouped in with the others. I imagine u have an issue with his outspokenness about his situation with police not long ago, where in a nutshell he claims he was unlawfully detained. Whether true or not, to my knowledge has never been in legit legal trouble. Could be wrong, I just can’t think of any other incidents involving him, other than the one I stated above. Yes he’s outspoken and brash, and I’m by no means a fan, but that shouldn’t group him in with the other players u stated who have had major legal issues.

against Bennett (and Jefferson) after watching him start all of the nonsense that happened at the end of the Jags-Seahawks game last week, I'll admit that.  Didnt care for him trying to take out the Jags C at his knees.  He doesnt belong lumped in with Richardson and Clark, and neither does Jefferson.

There is a video. Pretty sure it was not true and at least not for the 'reasons' he had claimed. I think the stunt he tried to pull is worse than someone getting pulled over with some weed. But that's just my opinion.

Well last I had heard about the situation was the old “body cam wasn’t turned on” excuse, and there wasn’t really any legit footage to prove anything one way or the other. If that’s changed and footage has come out in the meantime clearly showing what happened, then that’s on me because i was unaware of that. I thought I explained it pretty neutrally, not saying one side or the other was right, just explaining the situation. And even if you’re right, which u very well may be, I’m pretty sure that’s not as bad as speeding around with weed, a gun, and your kid in the car, but that’s just me.

I don't know. MSU improved noticeably once he was off of the roster. It wasn't all him, but... it was probably partly him.

At this point I don't see any reason to believe that he would have somehow developed quality character under Harbaugh any more than under Dantonio.

As I recall she took a strong dislike to him and was upset that Dantonio was recruiting Malik behind her back. She took offense to something he said in a recruiting visit which it seems was reinforced by the players he met on campus. He could party without worrying about classwork.

Usually when you hear a parent wanting to get their child away from bad influences, they are talking about people in their own neighborhood. Not college students.
