You know, you can't spend *every* second slandering the University of Michigan; even Freep staffers are seeking balance in their day to day occupational performance.

I knew they were evil and this only confirms it. Pretty sure you can add kicking puppies, parking in handicap spaces, and farting in babies faces to this list as well. When will somebody stop these bastards?

Minor transgressions seem to get blown out of proportion by the Free Press all the time.  Whether it's writing your name on a park bench or busting a coach for keeping his players 20 minutes too long in practice a couple of times.  How come this scandal didn't get a full page Sunday expose with headlines in 86 font?

I have to admit when I first read the topic I thought it was a forum asking for what we would like to see the Freepers do in their off time. I answered that to myself with a qick and resounding f__k themselves. I must say though that this was even better. Stupid Freep.

I'm going to go write on that bridge right now, and also draw a picture of me negging you for linking to that epically stupid blog on here.

Note how the article's headline characterizes the alleged "vandal" as an "Editor."

Ahem, copyeditor.

As an employer of editors and copyeditors, let me tell you: there is a huge difference. Like the difference between a Head Coach, who is responsible to be the face of the institution, and the lowest S&C coach.

There's also a huge difference between writing on the Ambassador Bridge and, like, breaking store windows. Hey, I've written on the Eiffel Tower -- guess we oughtta discount every pub I've ever written for.

Let me remind you again why we were so upset about Rosenberg and Snyder's  "investigatory" piece on those extra 20 minutes of practice: it was for surreptitiously employing the same kind of bad journalism that your link flaunts in its first line.

Consider yourself lucky that this isn't my blog, because I would ban your ass for posting insipid crap like this.

Dead on Misopogon.  I think there's a bit of a mob mentality about certain things in the MGoBlog community, and lambasting the Freep is one of them.  Brian has even alluded to this, jokingly posting something like "insert tired Freep joke here" in a non-freep post.

This blog usually encourages sound reason and logic and "good" writing ---- except when we are bashing the Freep or bashing criticism of Rodriguez.  Those things we don't have to be logical about or be open to argument/debate about.

I appreciate a witty/sarcastic one-liner as much as anyone, but this stuff just gets tired.  Why do we care that a low-level copy-editor of the Freep got caught tagging a bridge?  It has absolutely no relation to the Freep's Michigan football stories let alone Michigan football itself.

Of course it was gotcha by Detnews.  So what?  The story here is not that it was a Freep copy editor (a position I have learned in this blog is the journalistic equivalent of Obama's valet) but that a public scold has been shown to be a crass hypocrite.  To me that is a story albeit not a big one.  And it will be forgotten tomorrow.

Along these lines I ask this.  Making no commentary whatsoever on the issue of global warming, has anybody seen Al Gore fly commercial?

That blog post is so terribly written I found myself looking for reasons to excuse the offender.  Really, terrible, and it only encourages perpetuation of racism and bigotry about Detroit and somehow commentors turned this into Obama's fault.

Come on.

But I’m not just another girl on the avenue. I’m a Detroiter, a blogger-columnist-newspaper chick and, as Free Press Editor Paul Anger pointed out, a role model. I interact with people on the O Street blog and talk to students and people in the community. I speak my truth and I seek the truth.

And now I hope to be a better role model for the truth.

... is good for the gander.

But I’m not just another FOOTBALL PLAYER. I’m a MICHICHAN MAN and, as COACH RODRIGUEZ  pointed out, a role model. I interact with people on the MGOblog and talk to students and people in the community. I speak my truth and I seek the truth.

And now I hope to be a better role model for the truth.
