MGoBlog turns 13 today

"AT 12:30 AM on December 4th, 2004, MGoBlog was born thusly"

I started reading this blog on a daily basis over 9 years ago.  Back then, Brian had time to respond to emails and even posted them occasionally (see the bottom of this post).

1989 UM GRAD suggested:  "Are we having a Blog Mitzvah? I can get a rabbi there to celebrate this important milestone for the blog."

I'm not sure how I'll celebrate, but I am grateful for the blog.  Go Blue!

He was a writer for Comedy Company, I was a performer.  I also watched him and his close friend at the time, Amol P, start the Michigan Every Three Weekly.  You could tell Brian was a good writer, so it doesn't surprise me that he found his calling with this blog.

I am NOT parenting this thing through its teen years. I'll have two teens myself in just a couple short years now, and I am not going to want to take on the extra agony, I am sure.

That being said, I've lurked here since 2005, when I found the place and hid under a couple names until I took the current one.

It hasn't been as bad as we thought it might have been, given 2026 UM Grad's strong personality.  As the parent in charge of mornings, however, I can tell you that mornings bring out the worst in our daughter.  Thankfully, I'm with her during other parts of the day...when she's much more pleasant.

We also have a 16 year old son, but he's quiet and shy...so we've been pretty lucky with him.

Back when there was a chance this place ended up as a defunct poker blog.

I also never realized until I clicked on the link for the first post that Brian lied about his age when he started this thing.

Over the last 7 years (5 as a lurker, 2 on the board), I can honestly say that I have spent exponentially more time on MGoBlog, than I have on the work that I am supposed to be doing while on said blog. Kudos to Brian and the crew!
