Georgia headed to college football playoff with
a pro style offense, good defense and young QB. I bring this up because next year Michigan will be headed to the CFP with a pro style offense, GREAT D and young QB.
Seriously, watching Georgia control ball is a good reminder that the Pro Style offense is not as passe that many believe.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:23 PM ^
Amen. Pounding ground game, QB who can run just enough, and suffocating defense still winds cahmpionships.

Question...Danielson was just debating between OSU and Bama if OSU wins tonight but if Clemson loses the ACC Championship game tonight, Mimai obviously is in, why would they not be a part of the conversation? If OSU is debated with Bama why not Clemson...
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:38 PM ^
Clemson would have two losses and no conference championship. OSU two loses plus Championship. Alabama only one loss.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:43 PM ^
and got trucked by OK at home. Short of beating WI by 55, OSU needs to take their ticket to the Astro Bluebonnet bowl like the rest of us. And to the two of you who knows what that means and got a laugh, your welcome.
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:08 PM ^
But who is ‘Bama’s best win? OSU’s wins over PSU and (in this scenario) Wisky are better than any win by Bama, and one of OSU’s losses is to a probable playoff team in Oklahoma. Either winner of the B1G should be ranked ahead of Alabama.
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:10 PM ^
This is Bama's dirty little secret this year. Who is their best win? An average LSU team that lost to Troy at home? 8-4 Mississippi State?
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:25 PM ^
actually played quite well the last month and a half. They finished a quiet 9-3. The real problem Bama has and it will be interesting if the committee looks at it differently is that the win over FSU, with their actual starting QB--the only team to do that, just didn't have any staying power.
The question I have is if Penn State was considered a possible a viable playoff contender last year prior to their win in the Big 10 Title game. I may recall differently but I recall thinking they had no chance because Michigan torched them by 39 early in the year (and they had 2 losses). Why does Ohio State get treated differently. That Iowa loss was awful.

There’s not that many Texas teams.
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:16 PM ^
for the Astro Bluebonnet Bowl reference. How a bowl game in Houston didn't gain more traction, I'll never know.
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:04 PM ^
But Clemson with wins over Auburn, Va Tech, Georgia Tech....better wins than both OSU and Bama. I get the arguing points for Bama and a conference champion OSU...unsure why Clemson isn't included in the talk? Again their wins are much better (Bama beat weak LSU and Miss St....OSU beat Penn St. and...us?!)
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:18 PM ^
Georgia Tech won 5 games, 1 over an FCS team.
December 2nd, 2017 at 9:16 PM ^
Any one else think that Emert rubs it out thinking about OSU-Bama championship?
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:40 PM ^
On College Game Day they had this debate. They all agreed that Clemson has a better resume than either. But nobody thought that Miami would win.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:28 PM ^
Bad title is bad
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:28 PM ^
The offensive stuff is overrated. Virtually any offense can work as long as it's executed/coached well.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:35 PM ^
Agree with you 100%, it's just than there are more and more posters asking Harbaugh to change offense or "modernize". Georgia looked a lot like Michigan tonight. I think Michigan may be crazy good at WR and on D next year. Again, all hinges on QB play.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:54 PM ^
Crazy good at WR? No sir. We certainly will not be as poor as we were this year, and it may go from being a glaring weakness to moderate strength, but crazy good seems a jump too far.
Our leading returning WRs (Perry and DPJ) had about 40 catches and 500 yards... COMBINED. Those numbers don't even equal a top 15 BIG WR. Also, unless Jake Long and Taylor Lewan have some eligiblity left over, I don't see how our pass protection is going to look that much better than it did this year.
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:18 PM ^
Re pass blocking...possibly because guys get better over the course of their career?! I mean, hopefully. It cant get WORSE than it was this year..
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:24 PM ^
In theory I agree with you... but I feel like I had the same feeling going into the 20th year of Kalis / Braden / et al. and we know how that turned out.
Also, while everybody looks at our team as very young -- 2 of the 3 (or 4 depending on how you wanna look at it) consistent starters that we are losing were a 5th year senior and a 4 year starting senior. Mason Cole may have had some limitations at LT, but I would be surprised (pleasantly so) if someobdy is going to step in and be an even or better replacement.
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:34 PM ^
and zero mention of Tarik Black returning...
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:46 PM ^
Doesn't change the narrative... Michigan has a lot of young talent at WR that should continue to develp nicely but the lack of productivity and other offensive deficiencies (OL / QB play) do not justify the hype that they will be "crazy good"
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:31 PM ^
I wanna see them play Oklahoma.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:39 PM ^
will steamroll OK Dline. The big question, can GA slow down OK offense. If they end up playing, it will be must watch T.V.
I would have to go with OK because of Mayfield. If Fromm had another year or two under belt I would lean toward GA as they are a much more physical team. Mayfield's moxy is too much.
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:04 PM ^
Great analysis my man, I agree 100%
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:30 PM ^
Mayfield difference. Uga might be able to keep hom off the field. Cant see ou stopping chubb, michel, swift, holyfield, herrien embarrassment of riches
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:28 PM ^
is going to be a wakeup call for Oklahoma. They haven't faced anything like that . . . since Clemson in the 2015 playoff.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:45 PM ^
I am sure their O-line can actually block. The end.
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:14 PM ^
Their oline was pathetic last year. Saw them manhandled by nichols state. One year turnaround. Why not us? Drevno?
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:45 PM ^
I would certainly like to see a non-Alabama "pro-style" team win it all. Just to prove it can be done.
So far the last few years, it has been either Alabama or a Newton / Winston / Watson superstar QB type to win it.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:45 PM ^
Kirby Smart in playoffs in year 2. Impressive.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:57 PM ^
He gets in his coaches faces on tv too
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:19 PM ^
Harbaugh was 1 inch from doing it in year, and he took over a 5 win team. Not to mention Georgia never had the recruiting chasm we had in '14 and '15.
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:47 PM ^
I hope Wisconsin and Clemson win. #1 Clemson vs #4 Wisconsin #2 Oklahoma vs #3 Georgia
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:49 PM ^
Michigan might be going to the playoff this year as well if they swapped schedules with Georgia.
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:13 PM ^
If not for the absolute home cooking OSU got from the "refs."
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:25 PM ^
And about 3-4 plays from Wilton Speight
/ducks

December 3rd, 2017 at 12:25 AM ^
Delusional thinking
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:50 PM ^
The problem isn't Michigan being pro style. It's the myriad of personnel issues that occured this year.
December 2nd, 2017 at 10:45 PM ^
Michigan wasn't a contender either way this year, but the argument isn't pro style doesn't work, but rather you need more to go right, including personnel issues, for it to work. With spread, a few playmakers at key positions can paper over more issues elsewhere.
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:26 PM ^
Uga has two quarterbacks and FIVE running backs better than us
December 2nd, 2017 at 11:31 PM ^
UGA's RBs play in a physical league and look great in it. Michigan has nobody close to any of those 3 guys.
Both QBs are better than Speight as well.

Have heard no rumors about kirby. It might have to do with the ridiculous amount of football talent in ga
December 2nd, 2017 at 7:56 PM ^
Michigan’s 900 formations to run for 3 yards sucks . Wr and o line coaches needed before we get to that level
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:15 PM ^
Did you watch the second half of the season? When were we running for only 3 yards? (not counting JOK panic sacks)
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:38 PM ^
Wisconsin , msu , osu , and psu ( teams with a heart beat shit it down
December 2nd, 2017 at 8:29 PM ^
OK then. You're dismissed.
