Exit Drake Harris
Like Wilton Speight, Drake Harris announced on Instagram that he plans to transfer elsewhere for his fifth year.
Harris enrolled in January 2014 with a trainload of hype trailing him; he ended up a top-100 prospect on the 247 composite and the seventh-ranked receiver in nation. He initially committed to Michigan State to play both football and basketball, but decommitted after deciding to focus solely on football, and his stock exploded from there.
Hamstring injuries hampered his career from the start and cropped up over and over again. He eventually switched from receiver to corner before this past fall camp. By September, there were rumors that he was leaving the football team to play basketball for John Beilein. In the end, injuries forced him back to receiver, and he caught his first and only pass of the season against Ohio State in what turned out to be his last game in a Michigan uniform.
Per our depth chart by class, this would put Michigan at 87 scholarships (including the 2018 16-man class). With more attrition likely to come, Michigan should be able to add a few more members to their recruiting class before signing day.

Agreed. I live in the Grand Rapids area, and he was an absolute riot in high school. Hope he can stay healthy and catch that old spark whereever he ends up

I was excited when he commited. Probably not a coincidence that he caught his only pass this year last week. Hopefully he winds up at Central with Speight. Pipeline!

I spent some time with Drake around campus. I was busy during his years in Ann Arbor, and I was not that up to date on his happenings on the football team. That said, he was a very polite, fun, and all-around great young man. I think it speaks loads that he was a great regular person. I wish him the best in his future.

Thought he was going to play basketball for Michigan this year. Really too bad his hamstrings hamstrung his career at Michigan. Hopefully he does the Thomas Rawls bounce somewhere.

when he chose UM and have been disappointed by his injuries ever since. I hope he can have a great fifth year somewhere, maybe with WS. That could be a great way for both of them to go out with a bang!
Go Blue! And good luck to Drake and Wilton.

prevented him from realizing his very high potential. Was also very excited about his commitment to Michigan. Not a coach or pretend judge of receiver talent, but I still think he might has some good football ahead of him if he can stay healthy. Nice to hear also from Ziggolfer that Drake carried himself so well around campus, as I imagine most of the players do.

Drake was a 4* (and someone had him as 5* star) coming out and eveyone thought he was going to be a big play machine... never made it to that level

His catch against OSU was ruled an incomplete pass because he didn't complete the process.

Wish him luck. Guy tried, but injuries just couldn't be overcome. Loved his willingness to jump around the field to see playing time. Hopefully his next stop is a little better.

Cornerback seems to be where Hoke receivers go to die.

Thankful for his work and wish him the best as always.
However, as I said, Those Who Stay Will Be CHAMPIONS.

A major disappointment career wise, but perhaps he'll finally get his breakout year next year.

we will always have that opening bomb in E. Lansing last year...
oh wait, it was incomplete.
and the perfect metaphor for Drake's career here at UofM.
I wish him luck in the wars to come.
