The Madness that made Chase Winovich
Chase's intensity has made him one of my favorite players all season. This profile has a lot of detail (including him the doing the worm after a big play in practice and taking ballet to improve his balance and muscle rotation) that suggests that he's basically the same off the field as he appears to be in games.

Appreciate you sharing this OP. A comical and competitive personality.
I hope against hope he'll stay for another year.... probably not the most reasonable expectation.

Too short and too tall for NFL. Hair game needs work.

Really hope he returns!

I wonder what his draft status is. He had a great year for us, but I don't get the impression he is projected in the first two rounds, which usually means you should come back for another year to improve your stock. Having him back will be important to have some depth.

That's the million dollar question. If no well regarded, I'd love for him to come back Like Hurst did. Next year could be special (not saying national title or conference title, but I fully expect to be in the mix).
If he is well-regarded, then I hope he gets what is coming to him: a job in the NFL but not with Detroit or Cleveland!!

I would guess he would be a 3rd or 4th rounder if he came out. I hope he stays for selfish reasons, I think he gone though if I had to guess.

If he stays and has a great year in 2018, he can move up to late 1st / 2nd round. He could also get hurt (Butt) or stagnate (Chesson) in his last year - and move down in the draft.
So it is really tough to say what makes the most sense for him. Hope he stays but will support him like he!! regardless.

Yea all the way. I just have a hunch he leaves.

The way he handled the jug after the Minnesota game... just who he is lol.

I think you have to have just that little bit of "crazy" to play big time football at a high level. I remember when he kept switching positions. I think he was thrown a ball in the spring game a couple years ago and just looked silly trying to catch it. I thought there is no way he is going to see the field as a TE. Great story and man has he found his home on defense.

His intensity coming off the field after the second defensive stop vs OSU was, uh, intense.

"The Madness that made Winovich Chase"

Love how Chase plays. His long hair persona wasn't always a thing. When I was a Sr in undergrad I'd see Chase (who must have been a fr) quite a bit in the Union at panda express and he had a crew-cut. I distinctly remember this because I believe some NFL ref has a similar last name to Winovich and I wondered if that was his dad.
Weird post, weird thoughts but oh well.

“The people that are crazy enough to believe they can change the world are the ones that usually do it,” Winovich says.
Well, it is comforting to know that Chase and I live by similar quotes.
Great read actually. Thanks for sharing it.
Also, I wouldn't mind if Winovich hung around for another year....

and a baller. Sure hope he comes back.

it took years in the wilderness before he found his home on the DL. He was a hell of a player this year, and would have been even better if he had started at DE as a freshman.
