Guess he knew he had no chance next year?

Greg schiano to Tennessee
November 26th, 2017 at 6:17 PM ^
Maybe, but right now Tennessee fans are doing everything in their power to make sure that this is not the case. For all the shit they went through this season down there, they seem to have found one thing that can unite them in a coaching search and it is "anyone but Schiano".
November 26th, 2017 at 8:01 PM ^
will surprise many. Has nothing to do with his past performance as a coach. The reason is there is some indication that while an assistant at PSU he allegedly told another coach of the Sandusky problems and failed to report him. Shiano denies knowing anything about it.

If this is true, I have a new found respect for UT and their fanbase.
Fuckin enablers

What's the thread title? I don't see any other posts about this subject.

Oh, I gotcha. You meant the blog front page. Sorry. I'm not a regular here and didn't realize there were other threads, like blog comments, other than the forums. My bookmark is the forum front page.
Cut me some slack, Jack! Chump don' want no help, chump don't GET da help!

That means either McCaffrey, Peters, or Milton will hopefully be the QB for the next few years. Whoever wins the job in the spring.
November 26th, 2017 at 7:35 PM ^
based on the effusive praise from Coach Brown, it should be a tough battle between Peters and McCaffrey. Joe is really talented but raw, so it'll take time. He's really big though, not sure if people saw him standing next to Devin Gardner, but he looks really tall.

At Michigan. Peters is good and I’ve seen McCaffery. We just saw a Raw QB play for another QB at our hated rivals during the third and fourth quarters in, “The Game!” Trust me I️ know what Raw looks like at Michigan and that means he’ll be one hellava tight end or receiver! Until we get a Raw QB at Michigan coached up we will be in the same predicament we were in this year a QB with a lower football I️.Q. than a high school QB. Throwing into triple coverage for no )&)?!&&& reason! Get over yourself and find a new word!

You're not a smart person, are you? If you need to be so bitter, find another team...
November 26th, 2017 at 8:51 PM ^
Smart person? Do you gauge smart? You can find another team you idiot I️ was raised in AA and went to school there and have been a fan since birth. Lastly I️ am a donor and a season ticket owner. Plus I️ have nothing to prove to you or anyone else as a fan or a human being! Trust me I️ know what I’m talking about.
November 26th, 2017 at 8:55 PM ^
Tell me why Milton is considered to be so Raw? Lastly, there have already been posters on here that have already, delegated him to receiver. And trust me you don’t want to attempt to have this conversation without your toolbox. So JACK, get your tool belt and bring it on!
November 27th, 2017 at 8:33 AM ^
"Tell me why Milton is considered to be so Raw?"
His passing numbers in HS are almost identical to those of Denard Robinson in HS.
Difference is - he doesn't have the rushing yards of Denard Robinson, or the 4.3 speed (he was a 4.8 at the Nike Combine).
So... he's a big, slow, pro style QB... who isn't very accurate.
Real strong arm, but inaccurate. Basically like Shane Morris coming out of HS, but less accurate and with a slower 40 time.
November 26th, 2017 at 10:38 PM ^
Garnder is an NFL combine official 6'4". Angles are everything, just ask any photographer, but from this photo (barring some crazy shoe soles on Milton or flats on Gardner) Milton looks to be at LEAST 6'6", and also looks to have some LONG arms.
Perfect for passing from the pocket!
November 27th, 2017 at 3:45 AM ^
Gardner was a pretty legit 6'3
November 26th, 2017 at 8:25 PM ^
Speight leaving has to be a good sign. He was clearly the best QB we had, and yet the coaching staff said "thank you, but we won't be giving you another year". They must be big believers in McCaffrey and Peters. Speight would have been a perfect backup. QB situation must be looking bright next year.
November 26th, 2017 at 8:47 PM ^
I'm not sure that's what happened. Maybe it is, but it's irresponsible and premature to speculate on that. That's how rumors become "e-facts".
November 26th, 2017 at 9:22 PM ^
"Irresponsible"!? Are you my "MgoDad"? LOL. Dude, go sit in your arm chair and watch the Steelers / Green Bay game. Nothing I said was reaching or unreasonable.
November 26th, 2017 at 9:24 PM ^
I'm sure what happened was Coach Harbaugh told Wilton he would be the starter next year and Wilton declined and is choosing to go elsewhere. /S
November 27th, 2017 at 11:19 AM ^
Are you sure?
November 26th, 2017 at 5:58 PM ^
This is odd timing. Wasn't he close to being ready to play?
November 26th, 2017 at 6:01 PM ^
He was cleared for exercise with no contact. It'd have been a miracle for a change worthy of reinjury on his behalf, much less the staff, for him to return
November 26th, 2017 at 11:18 PM ^
My guess is that they weren't comfortable with his health or the possibility of re-injury.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:20 PM ^
There's only one game left in the season and it's a month away. In the meantime, he's presumably looking for a place to transfer to next January, so it makes sense that he'd start looking around now.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:55 PM ^
Chips gonna need a new signal caller.
November 26th, 2017 at 5:59 PM ^
It's Peters and O'Korn for the bowl game.
November 26th, 2017 at 5:59 PM ^
What could have been
November 26th, 2017 at 6:01 PM ^
He should have looked at jok, jok had a chance to display his skills in front of a large audience even as a backup. Speight won't find a bigger stage.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:02 PM ^
Good luck to you Wilton
November 26th, 2017 at 6:11 PM ^
would have been good to see him battle Peters for the starting QB slot.
great to have a couple experienced good performing QBs at the ready.
Now we're down to one with hardly any experience and one who has none.
bring in a grad transfer ?!
November 26th, 2017 at 6:19 PM ^
I trust JH to have his QBs ready next year. I'm still being comforted knowing that Peters and Dylan are both Harbaugh recruits and they will both have a couple years of NFL-level QB coaching.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:39 PM ^
O'Korn was a Harbaugh transfer and had 3 years of NFL level coaching and look where that got him.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:45 PM ^
Harbaugh's track record with QBs is good enough for me to confidently conclude that JOK's shortcomings as a QB fall squarely on him and are not indicative of the coaching he received.
Wilton Speight was a middling 3 star QB who many UM fans used to discredit the recruiting abilities of Hoke and Borges; this situation was supposed to prove that UM would never win with those guys because they could never lure the top talent at the most important position on the field.
Look what Harbaugh did for him. Jake Rudock went from backup in Iowa to an NFL roster (though to be fair, CJ Beathard is in the league too). And look what Speight became in his first year as a starter. Granted, his two interceptions were a bigger part of the loss than the officiating, but if this helps, Wilton Speight in his first year as a starter came one horrifically officiated game away from an appearance in the B1G Championship game and possibly the college football playoff.
It's O'Korn, not Harbaugh.
November 26th, 2017 at 7:20 PM ^
So basically Harbaugh is the qb genius he is made out to be then?
Not surprising. Rudock was already a good qb with a good record at iowa. We'll see how he does with his hand picked qbs but in the small sample size ive seen from peters I remain unimpressed.
November 26th, 2017 at 8:12 PM ^
The people who claim Rudock was already a good QB before he came to Michigan all have the same angle they are playing. Harbaugh didn't help him improve and Harbaugh is overrated.
And the whole thing is just hyperbole because they can't accept that 1. Peters was still not ready in late September. 2. Jim had no interest in seeing him debut in a night game in State College if the two were basically on equal footing. 3. O'Korn gets into games, nerves over take him and for whatever reason, he can't execute simple throws to open guys. Or see them in the first place. No matter how well he is coached. 4. There aren't all these great plan B options floating around and available as transfers who would have been any better than O'Korn as a back-up.
November 26th, 2017 at 8:46 PM ^
...wear green and white. They also say that anybody could've coached Andrew Luck in college and it was the 49ers defense that got them to the Super Bowl.
The fact is that "Iowa" Rudock was solid, not spectacular and never pushed the ball downfield. He came here and, after some hiccups against Utah, became a threat in the downfield passing game.
Rudock was an NFL draft pick because of Jim Harbaugh. If Wilton Speight can be 100% healthy and play himself onto an NFL roster, it will again be becaue of Jim Harbaugh.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:48 PM ^
OKorn was brought in as a stop gap because our QB roster was atrocious. he was not hand picked by Harbaugh by any means. Kudos to JOK for all the hard work and dedication, but Peters and DCaff are the first true Harbaugh QBs
November 26th, 2017 at 7:18 PM ^
Hoke left some great guys for Harbaugh, but man did he whiff on QB. If I recall correctly:
2011 transition: air
2012: Bellomy
2013: Morris
2014: Speight, Malzone
Wilt's a great guy who gave his heart and soul for the team, but if he's the shining star of Hoke's QB recruiting, it's telling.
November 26th, 2017 at 7:54 PM ^
Russ Bellamy was flipped from Purdue by Hoke in *2011*.
Morris committed really early and Hoke for some reason decided not to take a QB in 2012. D'oh.
November 26th, 2017 at 8:51 PM ^
I thought it was either him or Grant Perry. Either way, Hoke butchered the entire QB position. He was gifted Denard and Gardner and allowed Borges/Nussmeier to screw that up.
This is a serious #hottake, but if Hoke would've embraced the spread version of MANBALL (ie. the OSU offense), Denard and Gardner could've earned Hoke a contract extension.
November 26th, 2017 at 11:01 PM ^
Agree 100%. Dare I say we might even have won a B1G title or two. As is Hoke's teams came pretty damn close to beating Urbz and OSU on more than one occasion.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:48 PM ^
The O Line is key, our QB is irrelevant if they continue allowing QBs to get killed.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:52 PM ^
I recall when we were left with one, and half the fan base wanted him gone from the moment he took over. He seemed to be here for about 10 years but there were good times and bad times with Big John and if only once, he was the only Carr qb to beat OSU. And he did go to the league so if you think its bad, remember its probably not as bad as you think. Much like life really.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:02 PM ^
Not sure this is good news. It really depends on the progress of the guys playing behind Peters, who we haven't really seen.
November 26th, 2017 at 6:36 PM ^
All you people saying Speight was the clear #1 were blind to Pep Hamilton's incompetence. You assumed Speight was #1 and Peters was #3 for performance reasons but it was in fact a sham perpetrated by Hamilton's lunacy. Harbaugh had to take over playcalling and QB coaching in recent weeks to try to salvage the season but it was too late. We will be more than fine without Speight next year. Speight would not and should not see the field again at Michigan except for a farewell senior moment.
November 26th, 2017 at 7:20 PM ^
Are you suggesting Hamilton is as good as gone?
November 26th, 2017 at 7:46 PM ^
I'll reserve judgements on Pep like incompetent and lunacy. WR's were complicated this season, and we burned thru 3 starting QB's. I'd be game to see what he can do with some returning starters at both positions as well as an improved OL. Speight had his issues, but he was there in 2016 when we needed him and had a pretty good season for his first year starting, exceptions being Iowa and OSU.
