Beneficiary of UCLA coaching turnover?
November 21st, 2017 at 11:36 PM ^
Only watched the first 90 seconds, but didn't really see him run any actual routes. He didn't seem to be particularly fast, but was just a little faster than the guys he beat. Maybe he's more impressive later in the film, but most of those clips looked the same. At best he would be a major project. Small though at only 5'11" 180

The weirdness of the 2018 class continues.
November 22nd, 2017 at 9:29 AM ^
Don't get me wrong, I trust the coaches evaluations a lot more than mine. Maybe everyone in these clips has good speed. Hands seemed to be good (not that he would post anything but nice catches.) He was missed by a lot of tackles, but they looked more like poor tackles than him beating guys. If he ends up Blue I will root for him to develop & hope to see a repeat of that screen. I'd also be very glad that Martin is only a year ahead of him

The production UM has gotten from their non-freshmen receivers has been underwhelming this year. I realize the passing game has been extremely underwhelming this year too but while we thought UM was stacked at wr before the season began, I'm beginning to wonder just how stacked UM is at this position group. While I think the starters next year (DPJ and Black) should be solid I'm not sure how much depth (in terms of quality backups, not just bodies) we really have at this position group any more.

it's worth noting that he wanted Phillips. I'd guess Jedd saw quite a bit more than his highlights.
November 21st, 2017 at 11:10 PM ^
Jedd was a plant.
It was an inside job.
All your recruits belong to US.
Asiasi, you can scrub the secret agent makeup off, revealing your M-Block tattoo, and collect your undercover agent badge at Schembechler hall at 0700 hours.
Welcome home boys!
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:16 AM ^
He could be the beneficiary of the coaching change if he gets the head job at UCLA. He is the new interim head coach and if they don't get their top choice, Jedd is the fallback position. Oregon State has reached out to him about taking the head coach job there, so it's not that far fetched. Offense was not UCLA's problem.
November 22nd, 2017 at 8:48 AM ^
I agree that Jedd is the big beneficiary. I don't see him being retained as HC though. UCLA is a pretty big name and will attract enough attention that they will be able to scrub the entire staff. However, I think this is Jedd's year as a coach/coordinator. He will likely get a HC job somewhere. He is a proven offensive mind with both NFL and major college experience.
November 22nd, 2017 at 9:47 AM ^
I don't think UCLA is looking to hire an 'interim' HC. They are going to want a bigger 'name' to announce as their HC.
November 22nd, 2017 at 10:29 AM ^
I agree with both of you, but I am continually surprised by how poorly UCLA supports their football team. I have been to a few of their games at the Rose Bowl and the best comparison I can make is Purdue or Indiana. The stands are not full and there is usually a large contingent from the opposition. It is a basketball school. I live in LA and never have a problem finding the Michigan game on the TV. A fair number of UCLA games aren't even televised. You can blame the PAC-12 for that, but if UCLA fans cared more and the ratings were better, they would get more quality airtime.
November 22nd, 2017 at 11:30 AM ^
The Rose Bowl is also an hour away from campus and it's a problem with getting continued support. There is some talk about trying to make an on campus stadium happen but it's all theoretical as the campus is basically on a postage stamp.

Laughing at Asiasi right now.
But that team has some major talent to approach much like Ole Miss and A&M
November 21st, 2017 at 11:12 PM ^
He didn’t leave cause he thought UCLA was better. He left cause of his family. Dunno why he deserves to be laughed at
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:41 AM ^
Cal or Stanford if he wanted to be closer to home? He would have been a perfect fit at Stanford
November 22nd, 2017 at 2:23 AM ^
He preferred the one he chose?
November 22nd, 2017 at 10:04 AM ^
Get those fools!
November 22nd, 2017 at 7:47 AM ^
Transferring there is not an option for many.
November 21st, 2017 at 11:12 PM ^
I am not sure I would laugh to hard as the storyline was that he went back west for family reasons.
November 22nd, 2017 at 8:35 AM ^
What was the family reason? I know his family never wanted him to leave California but was there an actual issue? I guess I thought he left because of the weather.
I remember he was interviewed on the locker room early in the season about never having seen snow. He said he had a coat but he was scared.
Follow that up with the Iowa and Indiana games and you have the worst case scenario. December was abnormally cold followed by one of the warmest January and Februarys. By the time the weather got better, he was gone.
November 22nd, 2017 at 9:03 AM ^
There was a family medical problem of some sort (I think it was his mother) and he wanted (needed?) to be closer to them. I have no ill will towards him since family must come first, but I think it's a shame; he would probably have done better had he stayed here and we definitely would have been better with him.
Life happpens.

You’re an asshole.
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:17 AM ^
Wtf are you talking about? I'd advise educating yourself on these situations before making an asinine comment like that, just for friendly future reference.
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:24 AM ^
You’re a real shithead, huh?
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:51 AM ^
Asiasi left for a good reason. Everyone should wish him well.
November 22nd, 2017 at 1:01 AM ^
That make me go through a user’s recent posts and neg everything.
November 22nd, 2017 at 8:23 AM ^
I'm not saying dudes not a piece of shit, but you need a hobby bro.
November 22nd, 2017 at 9:34 AM ^
He has a hobby. It's going through the post history of complete assclowns like this guy and negging them. Don't judge!
November 22nd, 2017 at 7:01 AM ^
Well it’s official. You’re a piece of shit.

Come to a stable program, fellas--Coach-for-Life, Jim Harbaugh!
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:15 AM ^
They should also give lifetime contracts to the guys Jim has hired too! Lock brown, drevno, Jaybaugh, Hamilton, etc in for life baby!
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:46 AM ^
Well...maybe Jim and Don Brown. They could go year to year with Drevno, Jaybaugh, and Hamilton.
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:16 AM ^
Harbaugh for life! Lol let's go Recruit's
November 21st, 2017 at 11:11 PM ^
San Marcos is a suburb of San Diego and I haven't heard anything bout this kid, seems like a lesser version of Oliver Martin but he might be a gamer so who knows.
November 21st, 2017 at 11:26 PM ^
And with all the high schools to try to keep track of. But half the PAC12 thought enough of him to offer.
November 21st, 2017 at 11:19 PM ^
Make the 2018 class great again!!
November 21st, 2017 at 11:30 PM ^
If you're going to have a 3 star, I'll take one like this with major schools offering. Seems like the only 2/3 star guys to work out thus far for us is Higdon and Hudson. McKeon drops too many passes. Metellus gets lost in coverage a ton and misses tackles.
November 21st, 2017 at 11:35 PM ^
Mettellus? Metellus is going to be feared next year. Once he finds more of his center of gravity and the game slows down, holy cow. If him and Kinnel improve their speed, they will be a great duo next year.
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:05 AM ^
This is sarcasm right? McKeon leads the team in receptions and Metellus is the starting safety as true sophomores.
November 22nd, 2017 at 7:54 AM ^
who has beaten out older and higher ranked players. Not an All-american yet, so he hasn't worked out, I guess.
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:51 AM ^
McKeon has made plays in the passing game, and is a decent blocker. I think he's worked out so far, and he's still a soph. Meanwhile, we have some 4 stars who haven't contributed as much (and 5 stars in the past).
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:52 AM ^
I wouldn't be surprised if McKeon ends up playing in the NFL.
November 22nd, 2017 at 8:15 AM ^
K. Hill
G. Perry
Nordin
Robbins
Mason
plus many others like Dwumfour, Paye, Eubanks, McDoom, Uche, Speigfht, Watson, etc.
November 22nd, 2017 at 8:24 AM ^
thought Hudson was solid 4 star?
November 21st, 2017 at 11:34 PM ^
Hopefully he's Drew Dileo in disguise but better. Slot receiver with good hands and quickness, runs good routes and picks up timely first downs. Yes, please.
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:21 AM ^
He was Wes Welkeresque! Very Dependable

November 22nd, 2017 at 8:57 AM ^
I don’t know anything about the guy, but he must be white?
November 21st, 2017 at 11:43 PM ^
We are going to get better looks from a couple of recruits off of this firing. Bryan Addison is also a top target that’s deciding on UCLA or UM, Olijah Griffith Warren G’s son is also a guy we could look to get too.
