OT: Bacari Alexander suspended
November 20th, 2017 at 5:55 PM ^
UDMercy calls it a "personnel matter".
That, plus the timing, points to some significant misstep on Coach Alexander's part. I hope it's relatively benign - for all concerned. Like the OP, I liked his work for our team.
November 20th, 2017 at 6:02 PM ^
usually non-serious things will get called "a leave of absence" or something like that. It's rare that being suspended ends well
November 20th, 2017 at 6:23 PM ^
Shit must have hit someone’s fan - somewhere.
Unfortunate.
November 20th, 2017 at 6:08 PM ^
I can't see how it could be benign, but we'll soon find out I guess.
November 21st, 2017 at 12:12 AM ^
My guess is this is more of a Petrino situation than a Patino situation.

"More Fake News"
November 20th, 2017 at 6:08 PM ^
Edit: looks like it has been confirmed by other sources.
November 20th, 2017 at 6:57 PM ^
Uh oh...
November 20th, 2017 at 7:00 PM ^
I know this won't go over well AND this is obvious gossip and just something I was discussing with a friend at work.
Also preface I never in a million years would think Beilein is "dirty."
HOWEVER my recruiting "red flags" go up on a program that gets a crazy good recruiting class seemingly out of nowhere.
My buddy mentioned that the Michigan class of 2012 was very much out of nowhere (ranked 8th) and we were an ADIDAS school at the time...
Just something to think about. If I weren't a Michigan maize goggle wearing fan it would look odd.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:04 PM ^
There was nothing remotely suspicious about that 2012 class.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:07 PM ^
I agree, there is no way 2012 is suspicious. Look at the offers each of the kids had. With the exception of Mitch, UM was the best offer each had. how is that suspicious? GRIII had an "offer" from kansas, but who knows how committable that offer was?
November 20th, 2017 at 7:09 PM ^
Just as context
2008 - 283 ranked class
2009 - 34 ranked class
2010 - 82 ranked class
2011 - 42 ranked class
2012 - 8 ranked class
2013 - 14 ranked class
2014 - 30 ranked class
2015 - 107 ranked class
Again I'm saying as an outsider that looks very odd.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:16 PM ^
yeah, but that context is incredibly superficial. Dig even a little and it becomes very reasonable. Plus, if it was something underhanded, why would they have only done it that 1 year? Makes no sense
November 20th, 2017 at 7:16 PM ^
They recruited all of those kids for years and most of them had legitimate connections to the program and/or other kids in the class. None of them were remotely like Bowen showing up at Louisville out of the blue.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:23 PM ^
That class ranking was mostly because we identified guys who blew up as seniors. McGary was the only one who was highly regarded before he committed.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:27 PM ^
It has much more effect than in football. 2012 - 5 players, 2015 - 1 player. 2011 and 2013 each had 3. That matters.
November 20th, 2017 at 10:28 PM ^
No offense, but why is anyone replying to this asshat. Not the OP...
November 20th, 2017 at 8:19 PM ^
GRIII committed early as a three star before he blew up. Purdue wasn't even after him then. McGary was the only real high level contest. Levert was snake oiled from OHIO. Spike was an 11th hour signing to cover for a potential Burke jump to NBA; Apr 2012. Beilein was also in on Stauskus very early before he blew up. He was the first commit; in March 2011.
You are wayyyyyyy off base here.
November 20th, 2017 at 9:46 PM ^
Wait, this may be dumber.
November 21st, 2017 at 3:16 PM ^
You are better than this.
November 22nd, 2017 at 12:16 PM ^
He really isn't.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:07 PM ^
We were coming off a B1G regular season title, miss me with that out of nowhere bullshit!
November 20th, 2017 at 7:26 PM ^
They committed before that. But the program was clearly on the upswing. 2010-11 was the Darius Morris "GTFO My Court" year.
Even so, LeVert/Stauskas/GRIII all saw their stock go up a bunch their senior years - at the time of their commitments they were sleepers. McGary was the one blue-chipper we won a real battle for, and we had an in with him because of Zach Novak.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:28 PM ^
Look again at that 2012 class. GRIII was the highest ranked member. He was a 3* when he committed early whose only other offer was Valparaiso. Stauskas was a fairly lightly recruited player for a 4*. We were his best offer. Albrecht was a 0* whose only other offer was App. State. Levert was a low 3* who decommitted from Ohio U when their coach moved to Illinois. He would have followed him to Illinois but Groce didn't want him. That leaves Mitch McGary, the one high profile recruit in the class.
If Bacari was able to outbid Duke, Kentucky and others for Mitch, why couldn't he do it again? Michigan was suddenly a more prominent program after their trip to the finals, but our recruiting never took off.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:39 PM ^
and Mitch idolized Novak which is why he ended up here.
November 20th, 2017 at 8:40 PM ^
His Dudeness calls anyone who criticizes the football program a troll, but now he comes out with possibly the dumbest post of the year.
Gtfo with this garbage. Troll.
November 20th, 2017 at 9:47 PM ^
Nope, this is the dumbest.
November 20th, 2017 at 9:08 PM ^
No way we steal Trey Burke from Penn State unless it was dirty.
November 20th, 2017 at 10:34 PM ^
C'mon how could we beat Ohio out for Lavert without cheating and getting Ibi Watson and Eli Brooks clearly had bagman written all over it. Don't forget about 2* MAAR. Clearly cheating at the highest level.
November 20th, 2017 at 9:06 PM ^
GRIII was a 3* no one when he committed. Burke was a 3* from Ohio that OSU passed on. As noted above, LeVert was snatched from Ohio U's grasp at the buzzer. McGary was the only top 10 recruit we got. This is the dumbest of takes
November 20th, 2017 at 9:09 PM ^
But let’s not get carried away now. There are no elite 5* recruits worthy of dirty money coming to Michigan.
November 20th, 2017 at 9:45 PM ^
This is one of the dumbest things I have ever read.
November 20th, 2017 at 10:39 PM ^
That didn't go over well.
November 20th, 2017 at 10:56 PM ^
I wasted 3 secods reading it
November 20th, 2017 at 11:45 PM ^
This is a bad comment and you should feel bad for posting it.
November 21st, 2017 at 8:23 AM ^
That is one of the single dumbest things I have ever read in this space. And that is an incredibly high standard of stupidity.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:02 PM ^
Anyone have any totally unsourced gossip as to what happened? I'd be willing to listen...
November 20th, 2017 at 7:27 PM ^
...a heartbroken goat. That's all I can say.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:55 PM ^
Single now?
November 20th, 2017 at 8:57 PM ^
Underrated
November 20th, 2017 at 7:40 PM ^
Given whats going on everywhere else in the world, my guess would be a sexual assault/harassment thing.
November 20th, 2017 at 7:56 PM ^
That may or may not end up being true but I don’t think it’s fair to Bacari to speculate like that
November 21st, 2017 at 7:24 PM ^
It's a message board speculate is what we do here, i'm not juding him prematurely just saying thats the first thing that popped into my head.
November 21st, 2017 at 2:28 AM ^
pure speculation...
guilty until proven innocent ?!?!
November 20th, 2017 at 8:13 PM ^
I will take any and all unsubstantiated rumors. I just hope it’s a basketball-type thing and not a sexual assault type thing, but we shall see.
November 20th, 2017 at 9:39 PM ^
Hooray stupid speculation based on nothing...
November 21st, 2017 at 8:26 AM ^
Thanks Captain Obvi? I mean the post said my guess... The reason you have 3 upvotes is why this blog is jumping the shark.
