Offense: What do you want to see?
Saturday looks like a cold, wet, midwestern day in Madison. We'll need lights out defense and an offense to score 20 points or more if we're going to have a chance. While the running game has evolved, the passing game still appears shaky at best.
What new plays/schemes do you most want to see in the next two weeks?
I would love to see a package featuring Gentry as the QB, lined-up in a four wide shotgun with DPJ, McKeon, Perry/McDoom, and Peters (to keep the personnel the same as some of our base personnel sets). Higdon/Evans/Isaac at RB. The whole package would be RPOs, with the base run plays being QB power and zone read.
Peters would be lined-up as the boundary flanker, with Perry/McDoom in the slot. DPJ and McKeon on the other side. Gentry reads the box--if five defenders (LBs split to cover slots, two safeties outside the box), run QB power (RB is a lead blocker). If six defenders, run zone read, with DPJ, McKeon, and P/McDoom running verticals and Peters stepping back behind the LOS. Gentry has the option to give, keep, or throw, only throwing if McKeon or Perry/McDoom come free. If defense crashes on QB Power, run the old Denard play where Gentry takes a step towards the LOS and then throws to a wide open slot receiver.
Let's take advantage our four-star QB turned monster TE. Gentry's height makes these reads easy and I'm sure he can still throw to an open receiver in the seam. There are all kinds of variants that would be a nightmare for opposing defenses, and putting this on film would require OSU to prepare for it.
I recognize that this is highly unlikely, but man, it would be amazing.

Hoping this is why the offense's passing was so buttoned up versus Maryland.
People say our O-Line's pass pro is not great, but truthfully, a good QB with options at wide-receiver can bail you out with well-thrown quick short passes. The patriots bread and butter when their pass protection was ranked in the mid-20s.
Peters can make the throws. We're a little lacking at WR production, but we have so many different TEs making catches I can't even keep track of all the names and numbers (all "weird guys" to me)
It will be a real test to see what Harbaugh can do. Offensive playcalling creativity and execution is going to be the real key to victory.

I'd like to see Peters perform under pressure and with an actual playbook. It seems like he passes twice a quarter and we're going to need a lot more of him on Saturday to win. I'm hoping to see him look like a promising RS freshman

pre-snap he tucks it in between his knees and does a 26-step drop (waddle), and makes the throw.
playbook drops when legs come apart while making the throw, but he just hackey sacks it back up, catches it, cracks it open to the right page and furiously studies it as he runs to the new line of scrimmage.

What I'd like to see?
1) A win
2) an inaccurate weather forecast (i.e. no rain/snow mix during game.) Hate putting a poncho on over a winter jacket.

I would like to see a game plan that keeps WI guessing. I feel our wideouts can take the quick pass and gain 5 to 6 all day and I'd love to see some misdirection on both screens and the run game. TEs running at least 7 yd patterns that would move the chains or set us in good position on second and short to allow us to throw the long ball occasionally but not get us out of our offense. A heavy dose of the screen and even mix in some draw plays that worked so well vs. aggressive FL front. if we are able to run a combination of 15-20 safe plays, designed to stay ahead of the chains but, as always, possible to break big, this should allow Peters to stay comfortable and clean yet by keeping them guessing with personnel packagees and throwing to a wide variety of our pass catchers, should make plays relatively safe as well in regard to potential for turnovers. Don't ask for more than he can give, but take advantage now and then of the things he is able to do. He has got to set at the big boys table eventually and I like Don's atitude of disguing problems with aggression. Same can be applied to the offense. We do have some people, i.e. Gentry, Evans out of the backfield, even Poggi that can hurt you and least expected to do so.

Seriously? Last year, Jedd got one "good shit, Jedd". This year, Pep has two - with 3 games to go.
I don't know what creativity you're looking for - statue of liberty, double end-around reverse pass, hook and lateral? You won't see those, not with Harbaugh running the Harbaughffense. We've seen plenty of creativity in the run game - all the counters, the motion, the tendency breaking stuff. That's what passes for creativity in the Harbaugh run game.
There is no passing game. It's hampered by a poor pass blocking OL, freshmen WRs, and the 3rd string QB. Take some basic outs, screens, the occasional seam route, and a bomb or two, because that's what you're going to get.
