Heads Up: UofM-Wisconsin not on FOX in Central NC

Submitted by uofmfootball97 on

Saw this on The Victors board on Wolverine 24/7 and wanted to share over here. Apparently, due to old Raycom/ACC Network contracts the local FOX station here in Central NC will be broadcasting The Citadel-Clemson at noon instead of the Michigan-Wisconsin game. As best I can tell, the game will only be broadcast on the Fox Sports Go app, as this is an affiliate issue and not a FOX issue.

Wanted to inform my fellow Central NC residents and tell y'all to download the Fox Sports Go app because that's the only way you'll be able to watch it down here.

Also, instead of The Game, my guide is showing the ACC Game of the Week. Really hoping this isn't the case and it changes, but I'm preparing for the worst at this point. I'm beyond pissed right now. It is reprehensible not to have The Game on every FOX station in America.

Glad you brought this up. I was tempted to create another thread but there's been too many already. Maybe someone can help me...

This past weekend I signed up for PS Vue. I've used it in the past with good results but I recently relocated to rural CA and I think that's going to bite me in the ass. I don't get Fox, ABC, NBC or CBS (aside from OnDemand). And last night I tried to watch the Patriots game online via NBC with my log in but got an error along the lines "This provider doesn't allow rebroadcast to your area".

Am I pretty much hosed? I looked into YouTube TV and it is not available here.  Are my only legal options conventional cable/dish?

If anyone is willing to really dig in and help me, I'm in Tehachapi, CA (near Bakersfield).

Did you follow the link? There are broadcast towers less than 30 miles away from Tehachapi for ABC, NBC, and CBS. I didn't look at the detailed topography and so would be amenable to the argument that there are mountains in the way, but I don't think that's what you're saying.

FWIW, this (LINK) says there is at least weak signal for each of those broadcasters in Tehachapi. I don't know what weak signal means as far as what equipment you need, but I wouldn't give up so easily. You can get amplified indoor antennae for less than $30 and outdoor antennae for less than $50.

The topography is pretty significant. Tehachapi is, if I recall correctly, on the east side (though near the top of the pass) of the Tehachapi mountains, and certainly on the wrong side of the southern Sierra Nevada from the towers that serve Bakersfield. My recollection is that no indoor antennas had any hope of getting over-the-air TV in Lancaster despite the towers being only 30 miles away, because the towers were on the other side of the San Gabriel mountains. Kinda stunk for people in my situation, when I could barely afford food and groceries much less cable.

if you're trying to maintain cost, you have to cut internet speed if you were bundled before. I was paying $35/mo for PSVue (going up to $45/mo) and $50/mo for 20MB internet thru Spectrum, I bundled it back up with Spectrum and pay $105 for live TV plus 60MB internet. I got tired of choppy PSVue and just paid the extra $10/mo to fix it

FWIW, cutting the cord doesn't completely fix this problem in central NC.  It really makes no difference.  I have an antenna in Winston-Salem and pick up the local FOX affiliate.  It had an ACC game on this past weekend instead of MSU/OSU.  Likely to have the same problem this weekend.  Either way-- cord, or not, those of us in central NC will need to us the FOX Sports Go app to view the game this weekend (and quite possibly next weekend).  Which is goddamn ridiculous.

Also there will be no coverage at BGSU during a swim meet I am attending for my daughter.  Am DVRing it.  I am requesting a media black out so I can enjoy our win when I get home to watch it.  Easy to turn my phone off, but not every other person in attendance. (BTW no way I will be successful in this )

is being pretty weird about scheduling.  I know there are some noon game fans around here but this weekend is a pretty big game and it is an 11 AM local start in Madison.  This 4 PM game is Michigan State v. Maryland.  Why exactly would they not want Michigan v. Wisconsin as the 4 PM game?

I can't figure it out either other than just another reason I can't stand Fox doing B1G games.  I have not been impressed with anything they have done this CFB season.

I knew Fox picking up the Big was gonna cause issues like this. It used to be the early Big 12 games that the shitty ACC game of the week overlapped now it’s cutting into me watching my Wolverines!

Cutting the cord isn't always an option for people. People like me who have poor internet speeds with a bad infrastructure around me makes cutting the cord impossible. Btw, fox has been a nightmare in their coverage of college football.

Does Charlotte fall into this category? My TV currently doesn't tell me which game they are showing at this time. Also, would anyone know if the Alumni bar (Tavern on the tracks) is having this same issue? Thank You

Here’s where it all unravels for us! Wisconsin will have the long drive for a TD going into halftime. Then Wisky gets the ball coming out.
