Pickin' & Grinnin' - Today's College Games

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

You know the routine, pick the games with the points.    Home team is designated with the '@' (at) sign  and the team favored to win is always listed first.  Some of the college games of note include:

@ ohio (YTO)         15 1/2        MSU

Neb                           2 1/2        @ Minny

Oklahoma St             7              @ Iowa St.  (Enigma team, wrapped in a mystery)

Michigan                   15             @ Maryland

@ Wisconsin             11 1/2       Iowa (no love for beating ohio last week?)

N. D.                           3 1/2        Miami (YTM, and yes, Catholics v. convicts)

Some potentially very entertaining football, not the least of which will be ohio v. MSU.  ND v. Miami could be fun too.

Have a great fall, football Saturday.  Amazing as it may seem, only 2 more regular season weeks after this one.

(Types up fine, when posted the format gets funky.  Sorry.)

Sparty has a fat spread. May only be 10 points scored. Spartinez in that one.

Iowa regresses to the mean. Bucky Badger rolls.

Michigan covers by 7+

Like ND to cover plus. Underrated squad by all but the Comm'tee

Bama wins a tight one. Missy State in that one.

Thanks for starting the thread this week - I was busy later than usual tonight :).  Alright, I went 5-1 last week ATS from the picks I posted here, so hoping to keep up the momentum:

Here's my "best 6" I got money on:

Baylor +9 (home) vs Texas tech

Syacruse pick'em  (home) vs Wake forest

Arkansas St -11 (away) vs South Alabama

Utah +1. (home) vs Washington St

Oklahoma St -7 (+105) (away) vs Iowa St

Wisconsin -11.5 (home) vs Iowa

notable spreads (dont have $ on them) - Michigan is 17 point favorites and OSU is 15.5 favorites over Sparty currently on Bovada

I'll admit that Sparty with the points seems like the way one should chose ... but maybe too obvious? ;)

since it's a 15 1/2 point spread, then you are actually saying that ohio won't take care of business since you only have them winning by 10.

that game is intriguing for many reasons.   first, give dantonio his due, the guy has had his team show up big in some big games.  second, despite ohio being crushed in iowa, lo and behold, they aren't just favored, they are favored by 15+ points.  i don't think there is any sport more volatile in terms of the transitive principal as is college football.   lastly, our rooting interest is somewhere between ohio and of course meteor.

Ohio because somebody has to finally hit some of those screamingly open receivers and JT won't be terrible two weeks in a row

Nebraska based on PJ's gameplan last week and chart drawing

Iowa State, Official Season Ruiners of 2017

Iowa covers but loses

Miami wins: Richt is a heck of a coach and they just keep winning

M covers against Maryland because you can't smuggle a Wolverine through an airport by dressing it as a burger (also the defense and running game)

Someone was saying yesterday that most the money on OSU was tied up in a handful of large bets, hence some of the lack of movement on the line. Actually, money aside, I can't believe that OSU will be that terrible two weeks in a go but I do believe this game could get competitive like it normally does.

As for the Iowa game, one wonders if they blew their wad last week and are possibly on the verge of a letdown at Wisconsin.

OSU is going to destroy MSU. It will be ugly. Since I’m not betting actual money I’m going to go against the grain and take OSU.

I wouldn’t touch the Nebraska game as both teams are terrible

Other games...Iowa I guess. I really don’t think Wisconsin is that good.

Take our boys to cover.

Unfortunately I think ND might be legit a murder Miami. Take the points.

Everyone loves ND it seems , not just here but from other bettors I️ see . They seem like the smart pick I’ll admit. Just think that the public has not trusted Miami the last month and they keep proving people wrong . Anyway, I️ am staying far away from that game. If there’s a late night game I️ like , give me the over on the Boise St - CSU game at 58... not going to make it an official bet yet per my picks earlier in this thread . We will see how the day goes.

Does anyone have money on the Oklahoma- TCU ? I️ would lean on Oklahoma at -6.5 if betting on that .

OSU wins but it’s a close game. Dantonio always plays Meyer close, and MSU will have a chance to win in the fourth.

Ok State

Michigan wins and covers. Running game looks great again and Peters makes a few good throws. But I think Harbaugh plays it close to the vest this week with Peters so he can throw out a few new wrinkles next week against Wisconsin.

Wisconsin in a typical Big Ten game that ends something like 17-14. Iowa playing at Kinnick is a much different team than Iowa playing at Not Kinnick.

I hope to see Miami win, but I think ND pulls out a close in in the end. Miami is a good team, but they’re not a playoff caliber team.

OSU stumbles again. Urns looks like a guy with anxiety issues. Note at the end of the UM game last year, he didn't look cocky or stoic, he exhaled and dropped to his knees. It's a matter of time until he breaks.

The is no way Osu loses today, they will most likely blow Msu out. If Osu doesn't win I will delete my account.... wait can I even do that? Leaders of this blog feel free please delete my account if MSU wins. They won't trust me.

OSU (I expect an angry OSU to punish Lewerke b/c they cannot run)
Neb
ISU
UM
Iowa
ND

Also expect Auburn to upset UGA and Miss St to cover 13.5 vs Bama. Should be a great day of football.

Wouldn't shock me to see them win straight up. I don't know how Dantonio fields these ok-looking teams that somehow bog down these games against big opponents and just basically choke them out. MSU doesn't appear to do anything overly well yet is still in a great position to actually win the Big Ten. I just don't know how Dantonio does it

Ohio State - I think the Buckeyes roll because of last week, Geiger windmill, etc ... OSU to cover.
Minnesota - I think we get more credit for our run offense than the gophers bad defense.
Iowa State - Playing good defense in a conference without it. This gets them past OSU.
Michigan - I think the running game keeps rolling. We cover.
Iowa - I wouldn’t sleep on Ferentz keeping this close. No win. But a tight ball game.
ND - Something about this team. And I like the 3.5 line. Leaves the door cracked for a FG game at end.
