MGoFilm Analysis Ep. 6 || Big Runs vs. Minnesota
Hey guys - I have another episode of my weekly MGoFilm Analysis piece. I had a hard time choosing between Hudson's TFLs / myriad of plays vs. the run plays. Given how idiotic Minnesota was on offense, I thought it'd be more fun to look at Michigan's OL mash people and the running backs make people look silly.

Blocking looked excellent. It's true that MN took some bad angles, reacted poorly to counter action and didn't tackle particularly well, which turned some chunk plays into very long runs, but if that blocking holds up, I think even good Ds will have trouble keeping runs under 5-10 yards per. If we can combine it with even a little bit of pass proficiency, this could be a very difficult O to stop.

RBs have started to break some tackles. That is usually the difference between a nice gain and a big gain. Yes, the OL opened some massive holes and the RBs picked the right cut, but RBs need to break tackles to really generate yards. Both of Evans' long TDs included a broken tackle one on one (LB and CB).

I hate to be that guy...As I watch these long runs, I simply don't understand why we were so quick to abandon the run against MSU. At this point in the season, that game remains the biggest "what if" in my mind.

reminds me a touch of Smith shaking off the defender....just not quite as emphatic and Evans didn't throw him to the ground like a rag doll, but still....good memories

...that said, there's no way that Smith is fast enough to take this to the house the way Evans does. The memories are good, but I think I prefer our current stable of RBs that seem to combine speed, power and vision in a way that I haven't seen in quite a while.
