OT: Oklahoma signs with Jordan brand
Wow! I did not see this coming. I usually do not care about brands or uniforms, but I thought it was pretty cool to see the "Jordan" thing starting to catch on. I personally like it on ours, and I think the Maize jumpman really looks the best.

We sure did. we received a ton of flack for having a basketball player on our football uni, but I think the actual logo looks good. It's simple. Now I can see why it is such a big deal. The kids love the brand, and I'm sure plays a huge roll in recruitment. Fuck, some of these shoes are over $100 dollars a pair. They get them for free!

Ray J hit it first.

I love your Jordan gear too, buddy.

Well I am ready to move on from Jordan. I wanted UnderArmour before but liked Jordan brand when it was exclusive to Michigan. Even when North Carolina got Jordan brand it didnt matter much considering Jordan played there. But now it will lose the shine as more and more schools get it.
UnderArmour clothing is far superior to Adidas and Nike/Jordan. I get the Maryland connection but fuck it.

I wouldn't have had a problem if Michigan signed with UA. I like Nike better, and I think most college kids do too. I own some of the new Nike Michigan gear, and I have to say, its pretty well made and has a really good fit. But just the same, a Maize UA logo would have looked cool too. Again though, I like the Jumpman logo on our jersey. It looks nice.

Catching downvotes for the truth. Shame.

Yep, just look at those old white dad shoes they brought out for Steph Curry.

The best programs are signed with Nike (or Jordan). I agree UA athletic apparel is nice, but Nike has consistently come out with Uniforms/gear that looks pretty darn good and I have no complaints over. And it helps looking good in your gear when recruiting high school kids.
November 10th, 2017 at 8:57 AM ^
Thats fair and probably why Jordon Brand was the choice. I am speaking as a customer who is going to be buying all the gear.
November 10th, 2017 at 7:55 AM ^
Fuck that. Under Armor? Really?
November 10th, 2017 at 7:58 AM ^
I am fairly close to the Notre Dame campus, and see a lot of the Under Armour stuff. It is not bad at all actually. I like the Jumpman and Nike stuff way better, because it is Maize and Blue, but the Under Armour stuff is nice as well.
November 10th, 2017 at 8:05 AM ^
Do you own anything from UnderArmour?
There is a reason Nike is losing their share of the market. They still dominate the space but they are giving up ground.
November 10th, 2017 at 8:07 AM ^
I own some Fishing gear from UA, and yes, it is really nice. Like is said, I wouldn't mind either way. But something just seems right with Michigan and Nike. I grew up watching Chuck Woodson, and that Maize swoosh will always, in my mind, be a Michigan thing.
November 10th, 2017 at 8:08 AM ^
Wait isn't Under Armour having a disastrous year?
November 10th, 2017 at 8:14 AM ^
It was more a point of Nike. I just didnt mention it was Adidas that was the company cutting out a bigger slice. I stand by what I said about UnderArmour clothing.
November 10th, 2017 at 8:18 AM ^
Gotcha. I do own both Nike and Under Armour products, and most of the Under Armour products really are great, but they'll never top Nike for me. Whether it's actual product quality or the psychology of Nike and their brand's social perception, there's something about putting on a clean Nike product that's like getting a fresh haircut.
November 10th, 2017 at 8:40 AM ^
Great analogy at the end there Doc haha, The same can be said about Nike shoes, especially the "fly knit" shoes. Comy little fuckers, and really lightweight.
November 10th, 2017 at 1:58 PM ^
Yeeeeep. Flyknit along with a few other innovations keeps Nike ahead, IMO. I own some UnderArmour shoes, but they are not as good quality as Nike. The basketball shoes are especially bad. The apparell for UnderArmour is just as expensive if not more so, but I have not noticed any better quality compared to Nike.
November 10th, 2017 at 9:57 AM ^
Nike has been losing share to Adidas, not Under Armour. UA is in big trouble, in part for shelling out so much cash to compete with Nike in college apparel deals.
November 10th, 2017 at 8:46 AM ^
Under Armour turned Notre Dame's pants brown.

I mean, the idea was never that this was going to be some forever Michigan exclusive. The benefit was in being first, but the truth was always that this was going to spread to all of Nike's most elite partner schools.
Personally, in almost a decade on this blog, I've never seen anyone not bitching about the shoe company de jour
November 10th, 2017 at 9:27 AM ^
but i don't think it is worth it due to fact that signing w/ UA typically comes w a requirement to wear their hideous alternate unis.

...which it may be, I just don't know. Would kind of suck to see Sparty and OSU (and their fans) decked out in Jumpman gear.
November 10th, 2017 at 6:23 PM ^
Good point.
But I doubt OSU ever goes to Jordan. They're too closely associated with LeBron. I think we're more likely to see his logo on their stuff before a Jumpman.
November 10th, 2017 at 4:02 PM ^
Seems high quality enough to me. What is it lacking?

I was hoping to see a throwback Jersey with the swoosh on it this year. Like a 90's style M jersey.
November 10th, 2017 at 8:12 AM ^
Under Armour is becoming passé. Demand and sales are down. It's the Abercrombie & Fitch of atheletic wear.

Great analogy, I feel like it is jsut overpriced. The hoodies look cool, but they are thin and don't keep you warm, not to mention the price. And UA clothes don't even smell good like the A&F stuff does...
November 10th, 2017 at 8:12 AM ^
I wish the players pants had the dark blue block M on them. Don't give a shit about jumping basketball players and swooshes.

I hear ya. The Jumpman drifit compared to the nike drifit seem different to me. I prefer the Nike over the Jumpman. Also, the Jumpman seems to run a bit smaller. I guess that's why I like Nike in general though. Great fitting clothes. Moar cotton tho..

Griffin is signed with Jordan Brand. Let's just hope JB's other players don't try hooking up their schools-- 'Cuse ('Melo) or Wake Forest (Chris Paul). Luckily, UCLA is a UA school, so we don't have to worry about Westbrook trying to get the Bruins in Jordan gear.
