Ranking the November NCAAF Meltdowns we most want to see

Submitted by KennyHiggins on

November is always the critical month in college football - rivalry games, jockeying for playoff and bowl positioning, and often the fate of household name coaches is determined.  Michigan is highly unlikely to factor into the CFP this year, but as Michigan and college football fans, there are a handful of key games/teams that bear close watching this year.  Which of the 3 possibilities below are you most eager to see, and what are the chances:

1) OSU loses 3 of 4 in November (Iowa, MSU, and UM)

 - Reason to be excited: Freaks out the entire state of Ohio, casts doubt in the minds of recruits about the coaching genius and staying power of Urban Meyer.

2) The Auburn Tigers pin losses on UGA (Sat) and Bama (Nov 25), as the road to the SEC Championship runs straight through Jordan-Hare Stadium

 - Reason to be excited: All those smug SEC fans currently counting on 2 CFP bids face the prospect of none (or 1 max), as Auburn would have the opportunity under this scenario to beat UGA again in the SEC championship game

3) ND gets all the way to the last weekend as a top 3 team, only to have Stanford go all Bryce Love on them and dash their CFP hopes

 - Reason to be excited: It's been too log since we've seen ol' Purple Face in his natural state, and yeah, F ND

Except I would love to see them lose all four of their remaining games.

It would require a snowstorm and a lot of lucky bounces for Illinois to beat Ohio State, though. Illinois is bad and should thank their lucky stars their non-conference schedule was weak enough to allow them a couple of wins.

The recent story about Bama players receiving money opens up pandora's box a la Ole Miss.  The fallout would be fantastic to watch.

And I want the buckeyes to beat sparty, otherwise I'd pick #1.

ND is due for an upset I can feel it in my bone.

OSU's best chances for a loss are against that other Michigan school or us.  Hopefully both...I think the 11W server would melt down quite literally.

No damn idea about the SEC they are awful as a conference.

1) OSU
2) PSU
3) Notre Dame
4) Alabama
5) Clemson
6) UCF
7) Miami
8) Mississippi State (Would like a 2010 Gator Bowl rematch and to blow them out)
9) Oklahoma
10) Auburn
11) LSU
12) Washington State (Pac-12 is the most overrated conference in the NCAA)

Unlike a lot of people, I root for Sparty when they aren’t playing us. Most of my family that I like went to MSU and I often watch college football with them on the weekends when we are together. We each cheer for each other’s teams. Don't want them to win vs OSU though.

I have no idea how you can do that. I root against sparty in everything and its primarily because I know family & friends who went there. They are unbelievably obnoxious and never root for Michigan. I hope they lose every game they play, even when they play OSU and ND.

isn't a thing and has never been a thing in all of the history. Families might be divided but the schools and fan bases are not.  It's tempting to blame Dantonio but the seeds were sown way before Mork intensified the fake rivalry.

Not sure how you can say the Pac-12 is the most overrated conference in the NCAA when - by your own account - you have them last in the teams you want to have a November meltdown. The Pac-12 isn't overrated because they aren't even rated! By every measure, nobody is considering that conference good this year.

I think you need to look up the definition of overrated.

Option 1 is terrible because it puts Mark Dantonio in Indianapolis due to fluky wins for 2 out of 3 years.

No thanks. I'll be fine with a 2-2 OSU November, or if it has to be 1-3, lose to Illinois.

Yes, those would be nice. It is my belief that the only thing we should be concerned about is M winning the next three games. On a slow board day it doesn't make for much content but an upset of Wisconsin and Ohio State will provide plenty return. Let's just work towards that.

MSU is eliminated with a loss this weekend unless Ohio State loses to Illinois at home (lol).

OSU wins any possible tiebreakers over MSU if they beat them this weekend.

For Michigan's tiny chances, we need MSU AND PSU to both lose one more in the last few weeks.

If OSU wins this weekend, it's likely that they're still going to Indy even if they lose The Game.

Obviously having OSU metldown would be great.

The other likely scenario I want to see is Auburn beat Georgia. Alabama beat Auburn. Alabama beat Georgia. Alabama is not going to lose more than one game so they are in the playoff for sure. That would give every other SEC team at least two losses and would end the ridiculous two SEC teams in the playoffs talk.

To lose the rest. Because I was very comfortable when they were in the toilet last year. We still have to control the state first. Next the BTN. And lastly the country. Let us not get ahead of ourselves. Next year the MSU game is critical. I am sick of Dantonio owning our ass. Obviously a win vs The Ohio State University would do all of us a favor. It is hollow to keep calling them out as our top rival when we rarely compete with them let alone beat them. If I sound down it is because the losing to MSU and OSU has taken its toll.

I think most Michigan fans want max chaos. So:

OSU beats MSU

Auburn beats Georgia and Alabama

Stanford beats Washington

Notre Dame beats Miami

Stanford beats Notre Dame

Michigan wins out

Auburn wins SEC Championship Game

Clemson stumbles against FSU, South Carolina, or ACC Championship game

Oklahoma wins out regular season, then loses Big 12 championship game to _____ (whoever wins the tiebreaker between Okla St, WVU, TCU, ISU)

USC loses to UCLA, but then wins Pac-12 Championship game over Stanford

Conference Champs would be:

ACC: If chaos ensues, either 2 loss Clemson, or 1 (or 2) loss Miami

B1G: I can't sort out the tiebreakers, but OSU beats MSU, then loses to 1 loss Wisconsin in the B1G Championship game. So 1 loss Wisconsin is B1G Champs

Big-12: 2 or 3 loss Okla St, WVU, TCU, or ISU upsets Oklahoma in the Championship game.

Pac-12: 3 loss USC beats Stanford to win the Pac-12, with a resume of only two big wins (both over Stanford)

SEC: 2 loss Auburn wins out, then beats Georgia again to win the SEC Championship game.

Notre Dame finishes with 2 losses, Georgia and Stanford

None of this means Michigan even sniffs the playoffs, but this would be the a huge headache for the CFP committee. Good luck.

Watching Mork go down over systemic PED use in his program, or straight up payola, would be epic.  Not having to deal with his classless sore winner routine (and sadly having him pull off upsets on the regular) would be a major relief.
