Hilarious, but not really....man that was horrible.
November 7th, 2017 at 8:55 AM ^
I laughed at the sheer incompetence of it all; that was on a level few will ever witness again in their lifetimes (unless they watch cable news or Pam Ward broadcasts).
The song Blue Moon, slowed down by about 1/3rd, was what did it for me. It was to the M00N game what Yakkity Sax was to Brady Quinn vs Michigan.
November 6th, 2017 at 9:55 PM ^
A shit show we were under Hoke. Good God.
November 6th, 2017 at 9:58 PM ^
This was to Brady Hoke what the 67-65 game was to RichRod - a perfect encapsulation of his coaching tenure here.
November 6th, 2017 at 10:02 PM ^
No shit. Great comparison
November 6th, 2017 at 10:18 PM ^
The Bielema massacre with 20+ consecutive run plays was the other. I really felt like Brett was enjoying showing us his big fat pimply ass all day. Then the post game interview when he so succinctly pointed out how they aren't trying to be fancy but it's effective so why screw with it. That was the day I jumped off the wagon. RR was done for me.
November 6th, 2017 at 11:34 PM ^
I might be wrong but didn’t he also say something in the post-game about “we took care of him” in regards to a Michigan player getting cheap shot ?
November 7th, 2017 at 6:02 AM ^
Bielema said they "rectified the situation" -- by taking out (and injuring) Mike Martin, who couldn't play the second half. I felt compelled at the time to write to the Regents of UW-Madison, and cc'd two Madison researchers who were studying ankle injuries in football. Unlike my email to Dave Brandon that year, it did not garner a response.
November 7th, 2017 at 7:48 AM ^
Wisconsin game is where I saw Bill Martin walk out of either the Alro Steel suite or the AD suite after Wisconsin scored on that drive white as a ghost and with a look on his face of "am I really responsible for hiring this guy???"
November 7th, 2017 at 8:45 AM ^
lol i was at that game...it was a freezing yet sunny day and we sat by the most obnoxious UW fan. In a weird way it actually sucked worse than watching the 9-3 loss to toledo.
November 7th, 2017 at 9:35 AM ^
Lopata missed the game-tying FG at the end of regulation.
The second half of that Wisconsin game was so disheartening to watch. Ditto the second half of the Iowa game where Courtney Avery's tackle "attempt" on a third down allowed Iowa to convert and eventually kick a FG to put them up by 10, thereby making a comeback basically impossible at that late stage.
November 7th, 2017 at 10:45 AM ^
Or 30 if you count the end-of-game kneeldowns.
What people forget is that Tolzien also had a near-perfect day passing: 15 passes and none of them hit the ground. 14-15 for 201 with one interception.
But it wasn't all bad. We did make them punt on their first drive.
November 6th, 2017 at 10:19 PM ^
So fucking much this.
November 7th, 2017 at 12:17 AM ^
So true. Watching that highlights made me just shake my head. There was quite a bit of NFL talent on both sides of the ball considering the absolute dumpster fire of a performance.
November 7th, 2017 at 9:20 AM ^
Perfect encapsulation other than the fact that we won both of those games
November 7th, 2017 at 12:48 PM ^
Rich Rod is still the same, win against equal or lesser opponents and lose against tough competition. All offense and zero defense.
November 8th, 2017 at 4:41 AM ^
I'd take RR over Brady Hoke any day. Had Hoke been the coach in 2008 Michigan would've been lucky to win a single game.
November 6th, 2017 at 11:22 PM ^
Dave Brandon caused this, don’t forget that Dave Brandon screwed everything up.
November 6th, 2017 at 9:59 PM ^
I forgot how bad that game was. Wow.
November 6th, 2017 at 11:05 PM ^
The play at 2:07 was about the moment when I wondered if this was all simple incompetence or if the teams were trolling the viewing audience.
November 7th, 2017 at 2:31 AM ^
This video should be illegal.
November 7th, 2017 at 8:13 AM ^
That video is one you simply can't unsee. What a shit-show. I don't know if I've ever seen the ball roll around on the ground so much.
November 7th, 2017 at 10:26 AM ^
this video clip
... from an earlier U of M Moon trip.
At least we had a hammer then, something we sorely lacked against f'n Northwestern on the Hoke M00N trip.
(I'm posting from my phone, so if someone could embed for me... THANKS!)
November 7th, 2017 at 11:26 AM ^
Great vid. Also sounded like I was walking around the wasteland in Fallout.
November 7th, 2017 at 5:42 PM ^
that was horrible to watch. Almost thought it was made it up the play was so awful.
November 6th, 2017 at 9:52 PM ^
I'm going to listen to some jazz while watching MNF. Better than listening to Gruden.
November 7th, 2017 at 9:24 AM ^
Did Gruden talk about the 'turkey hole'? Jesus man, color commentating has gotten out of control. Shut up and tell me what's going on in the game and stop trying to start new hashtags.
November 6th, 2017 at 9:53 PM ^
Never forget where we came from
November 6th, 2017 at 9:56 PM ^
We are never to speak of this again.
November 6th, 2017 at 9:58 PM ^
What prompted this post?
November 6th, 2017 at 10:03 PM ^
I try to remember all anniversaries.
November 7th, 2017 at 8:15 AM ^
Now we know who to come to for info about Pearl Harbor, the sinking of the Maine, the Hindenberg, all the World Wars, terrorist attacks, and Dave Brandon's hiring.
November 6th, 2017 at 10:04 PM ^
Is your halftime message? Good God...ugly football. This is a reminder to everyone who gets pissed when we don't win every game
November 6th, 2017 at 10:05 PM ^
It was 0-0 at halftime. Goodness we were terrible
November 6th, 2017 at 10:06 PM ^
Mgoblog needs to get with the daylight savings time program
November 6th, 2017 at 10:10 PM ^
But revisiting Devin Gardners terrible mechanics is not fun. He makes Denard look like a passer. Harbaugh would have made a great WR out of DG though. Probably NFL caliber if he had 4yrs.
November 6th, 2017 at 10:36 PM ^
It was the previous year where Gardner threw what should have been about 7 interceptions, 3 of them pick sixes. All of them right into the hands of Northwestern defenders and they dropped every single one.
This one, I'm drawing more of a blank other than the eye cancer offense and missed field goals.
November 7th, 2017 at 6:07 AM ^
Compare Denard's stats as a passer as a true sophomore (RR's last year) to Henne's sophomore year, or even Harbaugh's senior year.
November 7th, 2017 at 1:17 PM ^
do you remember denard in the nd game in 2012? we lose by 7 and he threw 4 int's.
November 8th, 2017 at 1:15 PM ^
Don't forget Vincent Smith throwing the interception in the end zone on 1st and goal from the 10 when Hoke tried to get cute.
On second thought, forget it.
November 6th, 2017 at 10:15 PM ^
literally sums up that entire game. thank God for Harbaugh. our absolutely worst year and we're 7-2. woof.
November 6th, 2017 at 10:20 PM ^
Over 15 (?) players from that team got drafted...all you need to know about harbugah
November 7th, 2017 at 12:26 PM ^
Mason Cole is still around and might add to that number.
November 6th, 2017 at 10:34 PM ^
This was the final volume in our trilogy, "Bizarre Ways to Rip Northwestern's Heart Out." Three years running we beat them in increasingly weird fashion in the final minute (or OT).
All of which was justice for Fitzgerald for jumping around like an idiot on the sidelines after getting a call late in the '12 game.
