OT: Past Michigan QB prospect Sitkowski flips from Miami to Rutgers

Submitted by Kewaga. on

It's home,” Sitkowski said. “Rutgers is home. I have great respect for Miami as well, but Rutgers is a great school, a great community. We have an opportunity to build a legacy and build a program here. We can ultimately change this thing around.”

Sitkowski visited Rutgers last month for an up-close and personal view of the new offensive direction. Coordinator Jerry Kill helped sway the talented gunslinger, and made Sitkowski feel like a priority since day one.

It's important for me to start getting recruits and getting receivers and every position possible at home in New Jersey,” he said. “I want to get these guys to buy in and commit to Rutgers like I did.

Sounds like it. From 247:

Artur Sitkowski gave Miami an inch and the Hurricanes took it.

The former Hurricanes quarterback commit and New Jersey native showed an interest in returning home to play quarterback at Rutgers and 247Sports is told the Miami staff encouraged it.

Meanwhile Mark Richt and company have had several irons in the fire for quite some time in anticipation of Sitkowski no longer being part of their 2018 recruiting class.

Sitkowski, the No. 130 ranked prospect in the 2018 class, and if he signs with Rutgers, he will be the highest ranked commitment for Rutgers since Darius Hamilton in the 2012 class.

Take your misery somewhere else - we didn't choose for you to work in retail!  Only happy thoughts are allowed in here.

Unless UM loses, then only miserable snowflakes seem to come in...

Turning it around at Rutgers is not going to be an easy task by any means, but it is hard to argue with kids that want to hang around in their own backyard and try to be of service to whichever program serves as the "hometown" program.

I think the same info is burried on this and the commit watch thread and it's also on Reddit, but the Miami guys claim Richt encouraged him to look elsewhere when:

1) Sitkowski was benched at IMG in favor of a guy who is walking on at Minney next year

2) UT accepted a 2nd committment of a QB (I don't know who) and the 1st QB committ was the guy that Richt wanted

3) Miami wants more or a dual-threat kid and not a pure pocket passer.
