OT: Patriots Trade Jimmy Garappolo to 49ers for 2nd Round Pick
The quarterback of the future for the New England Patriots is Tom Brady.
To repeat: 49ers are trading a 2018 2nd-round draft pick for Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo, sources tell ESPN.

Time to make a move on Rudddock?
October 30th, 2017 at 9:09 PM ^
Definitely thought they might draft him and they didnt... hmm
October 30th, 2017 at 9:24 PM ^
That is a no on Rudock.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:29 PM ^
Not really serious, but I do remember that Rudock was generating himself some a little buzz in August. If that was all legit, wouldn't hurt to take a flier and let him learn from Brady for another year. I'm sure they have other plans though.
October 31st, 2017 at 12:31 AM ^
I think he meant that the Lions would be unlikely to be willing to trade Rudock, since without him they're in the same boat as NE.
October 30th, 2017 at 8:40 PM ^
This means the Patriots are signing Kaepernick, right? They don't have another QB on IR or the practice squad. They have literally zero QBs on contract besides Brady.
October 30th, 2017 at 8:41 PM ^
Kraft loves Kaep.
October 30th, 2017 at 8:54 PM ^
Kraft also loves Trump. Will his love for Kaepernick trump his love for Trump?
October 30th, 2017 at 9:18 PM ^
Good try to get ur agenda known and bring politics in. There are 31 other owners who haven't signed kaepernick. Pretty sure all 31 of them don't love trump. Kaepernick sucks and he's a distraction, ala Tim tebow.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:23 PM ^
That is not disputable.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:27 PM ^
That. That's not the point. Others are not friendly to trump, have needed a qb and still, have not signed him.
October 30th, 2017 at 10:23 PM ^
just stop, ijohnb
October 31st, 2017 at 12:39 PM ^
1) Clearly this "Inman" who joined just over a week ago is a banned poster under a new name, but - the join date is the day before the psu game, and isn't that when many were relegated?
2) How far into the red has a new poster gotten in just over a week? What kind of negative number is "Inman" shooting for?
October 31st, 2017 at 9:43 AM ^
Can we send you to Bolivia and bring back Yost? Seems like a nice 1-for-1 swap.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:30 PM ^
I didn’t invite politics into the discussion anymore than the comment I responded to did. Would Kraft’s name be brought up in a discussion regarding any other player?
I do agree however that politics should be avoided here and I apologize for my Knee-jerk comment.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:33 PM ^
Did. No probably not, but once again I don't think that's the point. No need for apology. All good man. Go Blue!
October 30th, 2017 at 9:53 PM ^
kaepernick is crap... thats why nobody has signed him
October 31st, 2017 at 12:43 AM ^
but you don't honestly believe that Mike Bercovici, Scott Tolzein, Tyler Bray, Jeff Driskel, Austin Davis, Kyle Sloter, Joe Webb, and Alex Tanney are better, do you?
October 31st, 2017 at 2:48 AM ^
These qb's know what back up money is. Wasn't Kaep only willing to sign for $10M per? I thought he said he wasn't signing for a discount.
October 31st, 2017 at 11:17 AM ^
That's been disproven as false time and time again.
On May 13th Kaepernick told Shannon Sharpe that the reports he was asking for $10M per were false. Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk also found these reports to be "Completely False".
On May 16th, Our good friend Tim Kawakami said that all the talk that Kaepernick has been asking for minimum $5M per year was false, and leaking straight from the San Francisco 49ers.
In June, Colin Kaepernick retweeted a tweet saying that reports that salary was the reason he was unsigned was a flatout lie.
October 31st, 2017 at 12:41 PM ^
Yeah but - #Fake News
October 31st, 2017 at 5:47 AM ^
I can already hear a tweet being drafted. Something like "How could the PATRIOTS sign the most un-american NFL player. SAD"
October 30th, 2017 at 8:46 PM ^
Please sign kaepernick please sign kaepernick please sign kaepernick please sign kaepernick please sign kaepernick
October 30th, 2017 at 8:51 PM ^
He's not getting signed.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:08 PM ^
Probably means they'll get Hoyer.
October 30th, 2017 at 10:21 PM ^
as McNair's penance
October 30th, 2017 at 10:23 PM ^
That would be hilarious.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:09 PM ^
Kaep is a mediocre passer who does not fit what the Pats do at all.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:57 PM ^
Besides him being bad, it’s week 8. There’s no chance a guy can learn a playbook in that short of a time period and contribute with that much rust.
October 30th, 2017 at 10:05 PM ^
16 TDs/4 INTs/90.7 QB Rating, 468 rush yards in 2016. Say what you will about the non-football stuff, but he's not a bad quarterback.
October 30th, 2017 at 11:00 PM ^
Nobody is going to sign him. The guy is an awful distraction, and as a QB he needs to play in a college type spread option system to have any success at all. There have been 15 QB's signed this past offseason for backup roles that are worse than kaepernick, that should tell you all you need to know. Organizations don't want to deal with the media shit storm that will rain down upon them for signing the guy. You or I have a better shot to get signed than Kaepernick.
October 31st, 2017 at 8:46 AM ^
Im guessing this isnt serious but if so the Pats are signing Hoyer who was released after the trade.
October 30th, 2017 at 8:41 PM ^
So NE doesn't think either of those guys they traded could be decent long-term starters, right?
October 30th, 2017 at 9:06 PM ^
They just have high expectation out of a QB. They are spoiled. /s
October 31st, 2017 at 8:19 AM ^
It’s a business. Perfect NEED synergy in trade of Brissett to Indy and Garap was departing as free agent. Pats WIN again here by basically adding another 1st Rd pick (#1 in 2nd).
Hoyer will be the B/U QB by COB today!
October 30th, 2017 at 8:41 PM ^
The Browns continue to be the Browns.
October 30th, 2017 at 9:47 PM ^
Is that JG is an unrestricted FA at endbof year. Niners are just renting him-Browns or anybody else can sign him for next year if they want.
Pretty sure we've got Cousins targeted for next year. We got tons of cap space and can offer him a LOT more than anybody else.
October 30th, 2017 at 10:19 PM ^
please, God, let this happen!!
October 30th, 2017 at 10:56 PM ^
Isn't ticketed for SF anymore. Cousins going to Cleveland is like going off to sea and never being heard from again.
October 31st, 2017 at 2:18 PM ^
If reports that NE wanted multiple first round picks for Garoppolo were correct, for once the Browns were not dumb enough to make the deal. Turns out no one was, and NE had to settle for something reasonable for a guy about to be a FA.
October 30th, 2017 at 8:43 PM ^
Is like getting another first round pick.
October 30th, 2017 at 8:43 PM ^
You don't make a move like that otherwise.
October 31st, 2017 at 11:28 AM ^
involves the Pats' desire to win now and in the near future. They see Brady has a couple of good years left in him, and plan to send him out with a bang. They're going to beef up with what they got for Garappolo and develop someone more promising at QB. (Clearly, it's a judgement about him as their QB beoynd Brady.) Kind of an interesting roll of the dice, if I am right, banking on Brady but also improving the team around him.
October 31st, 2017 at 11:45 AM ^
it's slow, and you wonder if you hit send. . .
October 30th, 2017 at 8:45 PM ^
This is a Good trade for niners. If you don't have an elite qb it is tough to win in NFL. Not saying JG is elite, but maybe he can be and it's definitely better than what they have now.
October 30th, 2017 at 8:51 PM ^
Hell of a trade by the Pats once again. He's a free agent in half a season and they just got a pick between 33-35.
October 30th, 2017 at 10:17 PM ^
book it
October 31st, 2017 at 8:06 AM ^
No way do they finish with a worse record than Browns.
October 30th, 2017 at 8:46 PM ^
They only got a second-round pick for him? Seems dirt cheap for a competent quarterback, especially with the current dearth of those in the league. But knowing the Patriots, that pick will turn into the next Brady so it won't matter
October 30th, 2017 at 9:09 PM ^
Have you seen how NE draft? Remember that guy who played the whole season when Brady was hurt? He won 10 games. Then he just fizzled away. They have something and we don't know yet. It could be a bartender down the street. He will come in there and light it up.
