You do realize that Toledo has been a MAC powerhouse for decades now and that nearly every head coach that has been there in that time (outside current coach) has moved on to bigger positions, right? Granted, they didn't always succeed (e.g. Beckman), but many did (Campell, Pinkell, Saban) - and the only one who didn't move on retired after beating UM in 2008 (Amstutz). There are much worse places to coach than Toledo.

Living there isn't too bad either. It's not Chicago or NY in terms of size and diversity of activities, nor is it Ann Arbor in terms of campus life or social scene, no mistake. I would say it is close to Lansing or Grand Rapids in terms of development and activities.

No one at UF will ever admit it, but the shark thing was probably the beginning of the end for him.  You just can't have your coach associated* with something only Troy McClure would find normal.

We live in an age where success is demanded immediately. UF has fired so many damn coaches and simply won't let them be without so much added pressure. Everyone is a critique. Who will they try to get next? Jay Harbaugh maybe? Fans and schools need to be more patient.

His teams have had horrible offenses. He did play in 2 sec championship games but they were both crappy teams. The division was just really bad. The suspensions made him look bad when half ur team is in trouble. Recruiting has been average so not much hope for the future. I agree he should have been given one more year but many factors contributed to his firing

Especially given that Florida has the resources to be able to compete with Alabama and Georgia on a yearly basis. Not surprising that they made the move given that they’re falling behind. Issue is that I don’t really see any top candidates available for them. Dan Mullen may be their best option. He’s a very solid coach but I don’t think he has the sort of potential they’d need to compete with Alabama or Georgia.

I got a feeling the off the field stuff plus the reported death threats thing without any evidence is what really brought the heat on, and yesterday just put the icing on the cake. Plus I mean if Kirby Smart and Georgia can find an offense in two years I can see where Florida's coming from. He was an OC and his offenses have been as bad or worse than ours this year .

and maybe get one more. Florida had to act quickly if they wanted to challenge his buyout. Now they can argue he was fired for making outrageous and untrue statements. Of course no one would argue he'd be fired for them if he was winning, but if he was wnning he wouldn't have talked about death threats.
