But some poor tackling and assignments errors today. The Grant TD should not have happened.
October 28th, 2017 at 3:20 PM ^
Big plays happen and Grant is a good player who made them pay for overpursuing. It's going to happen from time to time.
This was a more than good enough performance to.win and a good palate cleanser from last week.

Kinda sad that Rutgers scored touchdowns.
Two year shutout was too much to ask.
188 yards of offense allowed, great game.

Seemed to have a difficult time tackling that beast of a running back. Edwards I think his name was??
October 28th, 2017 at 3:21 PM ^
To be fair I think everyone has had trouble with him this year. Seth called him out on.FFF Film.
October 28th, 2017 at 3:11 PM ^
think the tackling today was all that great. But outside of one bust and two arm punts they were pretty damn solid.

Rutgers has some excellent skill players and they made some plays. Can now understand how they managed to beat Purdue. Great to see Aubrey Solomon play a lot.
October 28th, 2017 at 3:50 PM ^
There are times in practice where he's just unblockable. Just wrecks everything. Then he does that in the game, too.
October 28th, 2017 at 4:57 PM ^
if hurst wants to penetrate, its tough to stop that dude from getting upfield. he developed into a complete player last year and has been disciplined yet still dominant most of this year. heck of a player. and a lot of fun to watch - when he decides he wants to go from point a to b, that boy tees off and gets there in a hurry

Good overall. Last week and this week show the D needs to become better at defending against the wildcat.
October 28th, 2017 at 3:36 PM ^
let’s spend the bulk of this week’s practices prepping for the wildcat. Can’t let Minnesota use that Ace card....

Giving up 14 to Rutgers is disappointing and the safeties need to clean up their act, but relatively solid.
Great to see Solomon get lots of snaps and then Dwumfour and Paye get late action.

While Kinnel continues to be a bit of a disappointment in man coverage, he did show some improvement today at least partially getting his head turned around towards the quarterback, even if it was a bit late. Still a work in progress.

miracle plays for Rutgers to keep a drive going. Defense played lights out like usual.
October 28th, 2017 at 3:19 PM ^
I know people are going to complain, but Rutgers had 195 total yards.
Of the 101 passing yards,
- 21 came on a crazy one-handed grab
- 28 came on a perfect throw and grab against Furbush in coverage
That's basically half right there.
Of the 116 rushing yards (sacks and a kneel down taken out)
- 65 came on Grant's run
The other 19 carries gained 51 yards.
So, yeah, dominant effort outside of the one TD drive with two perfect throws and the Grant TD run.

I was looking for the shutout after last week's debacle.
Maybe Jerry Kill is a wizard?
October 28th, 2017 at 3:22 PM ^
Keeps them motivated, and gives them things to workout. Was really surpised to see the wildcat still stump them. I think Don Brown will have that fixed by OSU.
October 28th, 2017 at 3:30 PM ^
think we are going to keep seeing those high drop in fade throws until our coverage guys actually start making plays on the ball instead of just running with the receiver and ignoring the ball
October 28th, 2017 at 3:37 PM ^
The wildcat run for a TD and giving up a big 3rd down and long pass in the 3rd QTR. The D could have had a shutout.
October 28th, 2017 at 3:38 PM ^
Brown play more zone the rest of the way? Safeties remain a concern in man.
October 28th, 2017 at 3:40 PM ^
Young players will make young mistakes. Secondary has a lot to button up but sky isn't falling. Look forward to continuing to get more Frosh and other young talent for garbage time reps next week. Want to see Ambry, Kwity, Solomon and Devin Gil specifically.

Wisconsin is going to go hard at them
October 28th, 2017 at 6:48 PM ^
Agreed. Their TE on Kinnel is an issue.
October 28th, 2017 at 4:02 PM ^
Gary's presence was felt all over the field today.
October 28th, 2017 at 4:31 PM ^
I also thought that Rashan Gary played quite well today.
October 28th, 2017 at 7:23 PM ^
Solomon played more than Mone.
October 28th, 2017 at 9:10 PM ^
Spending so much time in the backfield. It was almost too easy.
GO BLUE!!

Nice to see the young guys on the D-Line get some good reps in, and hold their own! It's all coming together...
