True, but I think it's very likely that his shooting will be dramatically affected by this for a decent amount of time after it technically heals. I like our matchup against this particular UNC team if Joel Berry can't shoot.

Sure, but the eventual path that you must walk come March can be made a great deal easier by what you do in November and December. Taking down the reigning champions looks almost as good on a basketball résumé as a Michigan degree does on a standard résumé.

Regardless of whether he plays or not, as long as Michigan doesn't get blown out of the arena a loss won't hurt that much. Going on the road with a relatively unproven team to play the defending national champions is a tough proposition.
No one expects Michigan to win that game, so a strong showing in Chapel Hill would bode well for when they open the conference slate. Of course, if they manage to win all bets are off.
