I'm annoyed because this means we will only get one night game in 2018.
We have to host 3 in a two year span.
Next year we have Wisconsin, Penn State and Nebraska all at home, all three of which would make better night opponents than Minnesota, especially because UM should be a better team next year anyways.

Maybe the AD knows that Michigan can't beat good teams at night, so scheduled Minny as a night game instead.

(ducks anyway)

doesn't say you can't have more than 3, only that you have to have 3.
I bet 2 of those 3 are at night, and I bet our game at MSU is at night next year as well.

What about Michigan's athletic administration suggests to you they will do anything other than the absolute minimum in terms of night games?
We refused to host them in 2012, 2015 and 2016 (even though 2016 with Wisconsin was literally a golden opportunity).

Brady Quinn can only come out at night.

The weather forecast now is 30's for Nov 4th, maybe rain. Sunset is 6:24. All the weather arguments for not having OSU as a night game apply to Minnesota. I'm not against night games (but they are pain in the butt for me) but why not the OSU game?

Who cares? Honestly.
October 23rd, 2017 at 12:44 PM ^
Does this mean we don't have to play Wisconsin @ night?
October 23rd, 2017 at 12:49 PM ^
Nope. Has no effect on our away games. Just that we'll only be required to have 1 night game in 2018.
October 23rd, 2017 at 12:53 PM ^
No. I think this just means that next year we only have to have 1 night game at home if we choose.
October 23rd, 2017 at 2:01 PM ^
My understanding is that after the first weekend in Nov. we have the right to veto a night game. Hard to imagine coach & the university agreeing to a night game if we do in fact have veto power.

So I thought the schools had the "Night Game say" in November and not the networks; was I wrong?

Last three weeks of the season.

If any big10 game should be a night game, this one is it.

Wrong week.

Fox has the world series that night, so they can't take a night game. So they picked it as an afternoon game instead.
October 23rd, 2017 at 12:56 PM ^
Hang in there! Because there's this:
In 2019, we play Notre Dame on October 26th. Given that Penn State-Ohio State is an *afternoon* kick this weekend (the final weekend in October), presumably because of the World Series, we may have at chance to at least get *that* 2019 game played during the day...

Chalk that game up as a loss, since we cannot win at night. I thought we might be able to get to 8 wins, but I am skeptical now.

I'll assume the whole sarcasm symbol thing was missed. Otherwise, WTF? Seriously?
October 23rd, 2017 at 12:57 PM ^
And Minnesota will play their best game of the season and it will be a dogfight.
October 23rd, 2017 at 12:57 PM ^
No 3:30 games at home this year. Feels weird.
October 23rd, 2017 at 1:34 PM ^
3:30 games are the best too

Yeah, I like a good mix, really.

Either ABC/Fox had the first pick of B1G games. Put a 6-day-hold on OSU @ Iowa and PSU @ MSU (waiting to see who wins Saturday). But both games had to be held for an afternoon spot, given night games must be announced 12 days prior.
The other of ABC/Fox has second pick. Says they want the other of those 2 games.
The B1G night game thus becomes a lower-pick game.
Sort of makes sense given the "night games must be 12-day picks" rule.

and every one must be celebrated with a night time performance? I have no idea. I am with the noon crowd. Is this a BTN broadcast or a Fox national game? I can't imagine it's the latter.
But you know, Michigan game ratings are the real reason, if it's on FS1 or their lead channel.
