Who is actually advising Harbaugh on challenges?

Not specific to tonight's game: I've noticed JH call challenges to several plays over the past few seasons and I'm not certain he's won,a single one of them. Many of them were obviously a no-win just by seeing a quick replay. I'm assuming someone upstairs advises him (if not, maybe they should). Seems to burn a lot timeouts.

but that challenge was just a shot in the dark.  He had in his head (and someone in his ear) saying "we lose this fumble, the game might be over.  Who cares about the timeout if they have the ball in plus territory up 15?"

Those challenges are objectively bad coaching decisions and pure stubbornness. But this game, the challenge was defendable because it was basically game over after the fumble, so wasting a time out doesn’t really matter

I think it was against Air Force that we had a close fumble that looked like it would be a good challenge and then Coach sat on his hands. Then later in the game he used his challenge on a spot. A fucking spot. What a waste of a timeout and a challenge

I don't think that has anything to do with losing, and don't think the non-reversal was THAT egregious, but his arm was absolutely going forward and the officials made the wrong call. It was close, and clearly inconsequential but point being it wasn't a horrible challenge.
