Top TE target 4* Mustapha Muhammad set to commit on Friday

Submitted by Chicken22 on

Michigan was the presumed favorite for Muhammad with of the 100% crystal ball. It seemed like he was going to commit on Signing Day but he just pushed foward his commtiment date to Friday, October 20th.

Muhammad is from Texas and is the 110th best player and fifth best Tight End.  Michigan's only TE commit is Luke Schoonmaker.

EDIT: I didn't take into account the tweet that Matt Dudek said about receiving a great text and that might be about Muhammad. Plus, no crystal balls have been switched yet.

He has been on Michigan's campus several times as well as the game in Dallas. I have not seen any CB movement since his visit to UCLA on September 29th.
Is this an opinion or something you have read?

Still think it's us. UCLA is an ugly 3-3 having just lost to Arizona and Mora is almost certainly getting fired this winter. Add in our long-time favorite status and our recruiting guys being psyched about something the other day...I just don't see UCLA coming in with the steal here.

They would definitely need to get to a bowl and make the USC game competitive to survive. Idk about Jedd coming back - he would certainly require the title of OC which would mean demoting or dismissing Drevno. I know many around here are all on board with that, but idk if that is a great move. The power running game looks good right now. Fisch was apparently a significant loss for us, but I still think Drevno is an asset.

I think Frey is a better recruiter, and he's also younger, which is something to consider.

On the other hand, Drevno's kid is joining the team next year. Not a reason to keep the coach if he's bad, I just think Jim will have a hard time straight up asking/telling him to leave.

Also if they can workout their different lreferences (Frey preferring zone, Drevno preferring gap scheme) there is no reason they both couldn’t stay. Drevno can keep the title of run game Coordinator. I’m pretty sure they get a new coaching slot this offseason, so Fisch would have a spot.

However, if we do fire Drevno, and Fisch is not coming back, then I want Jake Spavital for OC.

There are multiple issues.

  1. OL and Pass Protection. This is already improving. Will be much better in 2018, better yet in 2019.
  2. QB who can go through reads. O'Korn does not appear to be it. Speight was better, but less mobile. Serious doubts about Peters. McCaffrey, starting next year?
  3. WR's who can get separation. Tariq Black was a huge loss, more than some realize.

As has been mentioned by the coaches, football is a team game. All eleven guys need to function together. We're not there yet. This is the sad reality.

Is strong around here lately. They are 5-1 with perhaps the best defense in the land. Ok so the offense sucks, count me in the camp that thinks Harbaugh will continue to make the team better.

Btw this scenario is loads better than the inverse of a great offense and absolutely zero defense we suffered through not all that long ago. This recruiting class is going to be fine. ReFuckingLax.

Hell I would settle for competent. I believe that’s all we need. Competency. Can that be extracted from the current group of QBs on the roster? We shall see, but I seriously doubt Harbaugh is just gonna sit idle and continue trying the same shit. He will come up with a way, i.e. simplifying the playbook, more runs/less passes, wildcat, Peters, whoever. The man will do everything he can within the confines of the rules. We gotta chill. Enjoy the ride.

Would Fisch return with Hamilton here, even if Drevno goes to be head somewhere? I doubt it. Fisch wants to be the man, not the OC.
