Michigan Moves up to #15 in the Coaches Poll, Down To #19 In AP Poll
PSU is now #2, of course. So next weekend will be a pretty marquee game.
The lines aren't out yet, but I am guessing PSU will be favored by something like 9 or 10. In my opinion, they should be favored by about 17. If O'Korn gets rattled during a day game at Indiana, he is going to curl up in the fetal position at PSU at night.
FYI, a viable passing offense is an important part of modern college football.
MOD EDIT - slight addition to catch all the poll discussion - LSA

Or will they be at ND USC?
October 15th, 2017 at 2:11 PM ^
They will be in Happy Valley . Go blue !!
October 15th, 2017 at 2:07 PM ^
They announced it during our game I think
October 15th, 2017 at 2:13 PM ^
I would love to have CGD here for a game against PSU, the signs would be brutal .
October 15th, 2017 at 2:07 PM ^
It’s in Happy Valley.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:04 PM ^
PSU on the road would be amazing. But I'm not holding out much hope since we have no real passing offense and PSU>>>>>MSU
October 15th, 2017 at 2:36 PM ^
2006 ND was the last time Michigan won a big primetime game against a good opponent while not being favored.
Harbaugh has to get it done as an underdog against either PSU, OSU or UW.
Otherwise, the narrative completely changes and he goes from media darling to underachiever which is obviously not good for recruiting.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:45 PM ^
Pretty sure that wasn’t a primetime game . But yes, regardless , it’s been quite a while
October 15th, 2017 at 2:59 PM ^
It was prime time in London.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:45 PM ^
I don't think you should worry about the media narrative right now. Harbaugh has shown a crazy good ability to recruit. This was always going to be a rebuilding year. Some people just started buying the hype after the Florida game, which turned out to be not much at all.
We've got 2 top 10 recruiting classes in a row, and this year's class looks like it will be high quality, if not high quantity. When these players are upperclassmen, with top notch coaching, they will be able to compete with the best in the country.
October 15th, 2017 at 4:36 PM ^
the misses so far at key areas where we need 1-2 elite guys at TE, RB and DT; even 1 more WR. I am willing to trust the choice of Hayes and Mayfield as development options at the critical OT spot, but the offense clearly needs to add explosive playmakers.
Let's also admit the elephant in the room - despite Harbaugh's success in recruiting, he is behind Meyer who has a recruiting machine in Columbus.
October 15th, 2017 at 6:50 PM ^
I honestly don't remember a miss on a big DT that we have been in on. A few guys are still out there so not sure who are referencing.
October 15th, 2017 at 9:28 PM ^
See this is the problem. It's the O LINE FER GODSAKES!
A GRAND O LINE CAN MAKE AN AVERAGE RUNNING BACK, QB, OR RECEIVER LOOK GREAT! But you just don't get that. You're not alone Chief.
October 16th, 2017 at 1:40 AM ^
it's the QBs, WRs and OTs that make our passing game terrible. And we probably do have some serious playmakers at WR, they're just really young and inexperienced (or hurt) at this point.
I will admit to being surprised how bad Crawford and McDoom have been. Obvioulsy early, and I hope they put it together, but those look to be misses so far.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:53 PM ^
2006 PSU was the primetime game that year. ND was during the day.
As for the narrative, I think some Michigan fans are building this into far more than it actually is. Most of the country thinks he's a great coach (however they feel about his personality) and if this year's team is struggling, then it's probably just a year away.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:53 PM ^
Go back and watch the PSU/Iowa game and you'll be more confident, particularly when you slot Bush into the role that Jewell played for Iowa. This game will largely come down to whether Bush can negate Barkley, not what our offense can do.
October 15th, 2017 at 10:25 PM ^
When Iowa barely lost to PSU I thought it might be telling about PSU . Anyone have any good insights beyond the ones just listed?
October 15th, 2017 at 2:05 PM ^
Down to 19th in the AP
October 15th, 2017 at 2:07 PM ^
For real? 4 top ten teams lose, we win and drop back 2 more spots? Win next week and we will skyrocket back into the top 10.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:09 PM ^
Yep, we were jumped by NC State, USF, and Michigan State. Every team in front of us that lost stayed in front of us, except for Auburn.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:20 PM ^
Ugh
MSU ahead of us. I'm still not over MSU loss. Also still can't believe they can field a competent team with so many suspensions and defections. Annoying.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:33 PM ^
He might be a detestable douchebag, but Dantonio's a damn good coach. He's not elite like Saban, Meyer, and perhaps one or two others, but he's solidly in the next tier.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:46 PM ^
Without a doubt the 2nd best in the conference behind Meyer.
October 15th, 2017 at 3:01 PM ^
lul wat?
October 15th, 2017 at 3:31 PM ^
Who is second then?
October 15th, 2017 at 3:56 PM ^
3 times this decade, is 8-4 vs Michigan. Multiple B1G wins, Rose Bowl, playoffs.
Yeah, I'd say he's pretty solidly in 2nd place.
October 15th, 2017 at 8:09 PM ^
I would have said the same thing 2.5 years ago
October 15th, 2017 at 3:34 PM ^
Yep. 2nd best who fields a 3-9 team.
October 15th, 2017 at 4:27 PM ^
I'll take 3-9 after 5 11 win seasons, a Rose Bowl, Cotton bowl, Playoff berth, 8-3 record against Michigan and 3 Ws against the Buckeyes with Urban Meyer at the helm. Thank you.
He is very much the 2nd best coach in the conference.
October 15th, 2017 at 4:49 PM ^
You shouldn’t take a 3-9 record ever, even if Harbaugh wins 5 national championships in a row. Shit, ESPECIALLY if Harbaugh wins 5 in a row. Do you know how much awful has to happen for a team to go 3-9? A team that made the playoffs the year before?
October 15th, 2017 at 7:37 PM ^
Here you are talking about 3-9...again. 8-3, my man, 8-3.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:21 PM ^
Michigan state only gave up about 200 passing yards in the fourth quarter and collapsed again against another bad team. If was very similarity their notre Dame Game the year they went 3-9.
October 15th, 2017 at 4:11 PM ^
If Minny started their back up QB MSU would have been in trouble. He torched them.
October 15th, 2017 at 4:21 PM ^
You are dead on.... About 2/10 times.
October 15th, 2017 at 4:00 PM ^
looks legit
October 15th, 2017 at 4:16 PM ^
Their QB played at the same high school I played at in Phoenix.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:21 PM ^
Not even sure we should be ranked. So yeah we ought to be thankful for where we’re at.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:36 PM ^
With a D like Michigan has, of course they should be ranked.
I am not happy with the offensive problems either, but you are being ridiculous.
ANY 5-1 power 5 conference team should be ranked, especially with an elite D. Who has a better D than Michigan? Not Clemson. Only Alabama has a plausible argument.
Plus, the offense did demonstrated on Saturday that they are going to get better. They showed an ability to use power run plays to gain yardage even though there was no threat in the passing game and IU was all in to stop the run.
Long way to go. But that is a huge first step for this young offense, and something that is a foundation for getting the whole offense better.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:49 PM ^
If you think Michigan is going to win against PSU, Wis, OSU, or EVEN Minnesota with only 4 passing yards in a half again, you're mistaken.
October 15th, 2017 at 3:38 PM ^
It does not respond to even one thing I said.
I said M should be ranked in response to a post that said M should not even be ranked.
I did not say anything about PSU, OSU, Wisc., or Minn, games.
YOU are mistaken if you think that M will do no better than 4 passing yards in a half in each of the games you named.
Your post makes so little sense that I have to guess you meant to respond to some other post.
October 15th, 2017 at 4:22 PM ^
Our offense is the most pathetic I have seen since Threet/Sheridan. Absolutely abysmal.
October 15th, 2017 at 6:49 PM ^
Threet beat Wiscy (in Ann Arbor) and Nick Sheridan led that 2008 squad to an upset victory on the road to secure the Little Brown Jug. O'korn's best game may be coming up.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:08 PM ^
I hate when there's a disparity like that. So we get to be #15/19 Michigan...
October 15th, 2017 at 2:20 PM ^
Interestingly, there's quite a spread in the AP votes though.
Two voters had us as high as #11 this week. Two had us at #12 as well.
The bulk of them were at #17 and #18, with 8 and 7 votes respectively.
Six total votes in the 20-22 range, which I assume had a hand in dragging us down.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:07 PM ^
Polls mean little to me, rather performance and progress are most important. We'll see what happens in Happy Valley, and I'll be there cheering on the Maize and Blue.
October 15th, 2017 at 3:04 PM ^
Polls do mean something to recruits and players.
More often than not the rankings reflect performance and progress, especially if one is already ranked.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:07 PM ^
If Michigan wins out they are in the playoff. Ranking has no impact at this point. If we lose another game we are out of Big 10 champ and playoff. That simple.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:12 PM ^
Yep. polls are stupid now with conference playoffs and the playoffs.
Except when they are not, like when the Big Ten Champ PSU doesn't get to go to playoff and is leapfrogged by OSU because of polls.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:25 PM ^
It was counting. Two remains greater than one.
October 15th, 2017 at 2:15 PM ^
Nope, we need Sparty to lose, twice (meaning 2 regular season games).
