College GameDay (UM/PSU 10/21/17) Sign Ideas Diary
As mentioned and announced on the board yesterday, ESPN's College GameDay will be coming to the Michigan game in Happy Valley this coming weekend. I am aware that many fellow MGoBloggers are attending the game, and therefore some may go represent at College GameDay. I figured it would be smart to create a thread to post ideas for signs!
Although there are legitimate fears that the offense could once again buckle under national pressure, Saturday will be the day to put all of that aside and cheer our team on, and make fun of Penn State, who more than deserves it!
I made this a diary so it will stay visible longer for easy access and reference whenever people choose to make their sign throughout the week!
Make sure to clarify whether you are going, and whether you will be using that sign or not, so we don't steal or duplicate signs.
Go ahead, begin brainstorming!

I'll start it off with...
"JoePa Knew"
No need to clarify whether I'm going or using this one or not, as many can agree that we need as many duplicates of this sign as possible!
However, I would like to warn people who use this to bring a backup sign, as they could confiscate this one. Or, avoid actually entering the barricades and hang out outside of it with a pole to make it visible.

I say this as a PSU fan who has lost patience with the "Paterno Loyalists" portion of my own fanbase. Many of them are a bunch of skunks.
But I'm not sure that you're really scoring points either.
It's a classic college football setting: two top-tier games in the middle of fall, with big stakes (chances to win a B1G Championship and make the playoff) on the line. Celebrate that instead of getting in a pissing match with a skunk.

I can agree with that. I am actually not going, so I just want to see this on TV and laugh.
I would honestly not do this myself because it's not worth arguing with some of the idiots who still worship him.

I have typically respected the stances you've taken here, but I think you're missing the point of "JoePa Knew". Your school decided that it would be a good idea to have a Joe Paterno fellating video during the 2016 Temple game. Your school recently had 200 lettermen petitioning to bring back a statue of someone who aided and abetted the rape of children over the course of decades. Your school has a large group of JoePalogists (TM) who want to white-wash his history of overlooking Sandusky's disgusting activities.
And until Penn State as a university owns its past, PSU does not get a seat at the table of "classic college football". It will remain "Abetted Child Rape U" in the minds of those who put institutional responsibility ahead of Ws and Ls when it comes to matters as fundamental as the protection of children.
I've written repeatedly that I feel bad for PSU alums, faculty, and fans who had nothing to do with this atrocity and have not gone into denial or white-wash mode. But so long as PSU wants to celebrate Joe Paterno (as recently as last season!), the cost of doing so is getting called out on that bullshit.

+1 for JoePalogists (TM)

Don't forget all the other varsity teams at Ped State wearing "409" patches.

This is the correct answer. It's a statement of fact conveniently ignored by a good portion of that fanbase. No idea if it would be confiscated though - no vulgar words or anything but who knows with ESPN.
I would find it amusing if it was confiscated given that about a quarter of the signs on GameDay are some kind of coach slander that is completely made up, but you can't have a sign with an outright statement of fact.
Why didn't this program get the death penalty again?
October 17th, 2017 at 3:39 PM ^
Because the B1G and the NCAA are led by spineless, feckless, incompetent poop throwing monkeys.
October 16th, 2017 at 9:53 AM ^
That's really raw. By which I mean, spot-on and I hope someone uncorks this.
BY THE WAY, the way to get a message like this out is to be strategic. Bring a sign with something sorta funny on one side, and a very thick Sharpie. Then write this out, monitor ESPN on your phone for your short window of opportunity, and hold that sumbitch high until they escort you out.

Yep...
I imagine the ESPN sign patrol will be out in full force looking for signs to remove. This one may slip through the oversight.
