Of course a loss is a loss. But Harbaugh is suffering a fair amount of criticism that is brought on only because we keep ending up so far ahead of schedule.

Remember when this would be our first real turn around year (it ended up being 2 years ago)?

Remember when 9 wins was considered the ceiling for this team (it still isn't)?

Have we lost games that we could have (and in some cases should have) won? Yes.

But we are a freaking national power that is still in its ascendancy.

He's awesome.

Period.

P.S. I reserve the right to piss and moan about a thousand things every time that we lose. But, when it comes down to the number one person in the world I would trust to fix it, do you know what the answer is?

I personally haven't read or heard fans asserting bragging rights for Harbaugh's NFL success. I also don't see UM fans talking much about "losing with dignity."

I do hear a lot of fans and pundits talk about his coaching success including in the NFL to assert his ability as a coach and analyze potential coaching matchups. I also think that most people reference the closeness of games to discuss how far the program has come under Jim, and how close it might be to attaining championship goals.

In those cases they're relevant points to make. I would agree that we're not supposed to feel better about the loss. These losses have a value of absolute zero. By one or 21 we're all dead inside.

And we are lucky he ended up at Michigan. But you lose to sparty at home 2 times in a row with a superior team then yes, you are underperforming. It’s pretty simple. He doesn’t have the right coaches on offense and until that’s corrected, we will continue to underperform.

Hats off to that amazing MSU coaching staff. I’m sure they planned on not getting a 1st down in the second half until MSU’s last drive and having O’Korn throw the ball directly to them. Let’s get something straight-MSU coaches are good but this game is not an example of that. MSU played fucking horribly, we just happened to play worse on that particular day. Can you imagine what our fans would say if Harbaugh went 3-9 this year? Or in year 10 for that matter! It’s amazing how this board goes out of their way to compliment Dantonio when he fielded a team that went 3-9 last year, yet Harbaugh has one bad game and we are questioning the future of our team. This board has been unreadable this week

I know our defense was extremely injured for the 2015 OSU game, but that was a horrible game. It is the ONLY bad game for him as our coach. I suppose I could count this most recent MSU game, but it was a four-point loss and O'Korn and the offense's poor play pretty much cost us the game. Terrible game, but at least it wasn't a blowout like the 2015 OSU game, which is what separates them.

No, it's the same "I'm hurt, am angry at those who made me hurt" red faced proclamations we've heard all week.  You can tell because it comes with a certain solution: the offensive coaches have to be replaced.  It's that simple.  He's just stating facts.  He's sorry if that hurts us, but Gerry from human resources just has to keep it real.

Claiming we had the better team two years ago is flat out ludicrous and ignoring the facts. We massively overperformed that entire game to put ourselves in a position where we had a 99.999% chance of winning.

I love the 1984 level thinking vs MSU.

They were a playoff team with a 3rd round NFL QB.  We had a guy who transferred in who Iowa dropped.

MSU had more talent in 2015.  We outcaoched them!

We were thinking of going 7-5 in 2015 and be happy.  We go 10-3, with a bullshit loss.

Now, we're a silicon valley startup with too big evaluation to start.  There's no room to show growth. So the fans get frustrated and the startup dies

Stop with this we are fortunate to have Harbaugh stuff. What does that have to do with his performance on the sideline? He’s a terrific coach, whom we all thought was better than Dantonio. Yet, three years in he has a a losing record to him. No one on this board thought we would lose last Saturday. However, we did and not just that we got outcoached. Some are shocked by that and it is legit. He’s one of the highest paid coaches in football, so expectations are for him to beat a team he has more talent then and was favored by 10+ points at home. We talk mighty when things are going well but seem to settle for less when we get beat. PSU got blasted by us last year, yet they recovered and won the B1G. We should expect our staff to do the same, if we believe they are elite. Seems as if most of the board is resigned to the fact we will be 8-4 and already passing blame to the previous 2 regimes.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Wins over rivals is awesome, but Dantonio couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag last year. He was 3 and fucking 9. Harbaugh has been 3-9 once and it was his first year at Stanford. This board needs to get a grip
