Michigan - Indiana: 10 memorable plays

Submitted by egrfree2rhyme on

I thought people might enjoy this video, given that it's Michigan - Indiana week.

Disclaimer: This isn't meant to be a "top ten" video, so many great plays weren't included.  I wanted to leave some of our best historic plays out so that I can make another version of this video next year.  Go Blue!

500+ yards passing, 580+ total yards.

Later that year, he would fail to top even 100 yards passing against Iowa.  Then he came back with another 400+ yard day against OSU.  Then he came back in 2014 and it would be a rare day when he would top 200 yards.

Unreal.

I think this would be a great weekly feature. Yeah, 9 of the 12 weeks would be essentially a repeat from the year before (other than swapping out a play or two from that previous year) but it’d be a great primer for getting ready for each game.

That '88 Leroy Hoard run and subsequent monkey pile happened right in my front lap. Our ale-fueled enthusiasm caused a near-melee with some otherwise mild-mannered IU fans. Some things were said. I feel bad to this day and I'd love to apologize to them. Ah well. Youth.

Already discussed above.  That's easily the #1 Michigan play vs Indiana IMO.  But this isn't supposed to be the ten "best" plays we've ever had against IU.  Just 10 great plays.

I'll probably include the AC play next year since everyone has been clammering for it.  I just thought it would be interesting to include some great plays that have probably been kind of forgotten about over the years.

It was exciting as hell, but the fact that we gave up almost 500 yds to the Hoosiers was a disquieting sign that our defensive ineptitude under RR was not close to being remedied.

The first clip with the intro music for ESPN College Football back in the 90s...MAN, I loved hearing that music!!!

Second best play in the series was the McMurtry to Calloway TD pass in '88. Remember, that's when Bill Mallory had the Hoosiers rolling and that game was actually for first place in the Big Ten.

That play was nuts.  I'm not sure how I'd rank that play all-time in the history of the series.  I definitely agree that it was the best play from that game.  I was planning on including that play next year.  I didn't want to include all the best plays from the series in the first video because then the video I make next year will be a definite step down.
