Night Game snowflakes

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Obviously other than the shitty result and offensive play (pun intended), how was your experience yesterday at the game?

The golf course was full by 2pm. There were apparently some fights going on after the game.

I saw so many drunk people. This one girl who entered my section was so drunk it was unbelievable she could walk. On Hill St we saw some guy just collapse and smack his head on the pavement.

I say screw night games.

The city was a mess trying to get around. We left about 45 minutes after the game ended, and traffic was awful. I got home at 3am.

If the weather wasn't so bad, there could've been vandalism. That game should never be played at night.

The novelty of it being a night game wore off as soon as the ball kicked off. Rather it had been at Noon.

Fuck night games, total bullshit and we lose the majority of them, even at home! Not using it as an excuse at all but if yesterdays game was at noon, I think we win

I was on board with your comments about the state of the season, but give me a fucking break about night games. Great, you saw a couple drunk people. Back in the aughts there was beer pong, and flip cup, etc. being played at 9 am on every block between the dorm and the stadium. It doesn't matter what time a game is, kids are going to get drunk. That's what they do.

It was fun, but Ann Arbor was crawling with Sparties. They always trash Ann Arbor. It wasn't the massive disaster it could have been though other than the results on the field

Wow, total agreement. We had two drunk idiots sit down in the seats next to us and they nearly started a fight when the lady in front of them asked them kindly to stop kicking her. Then another drunk dude in front of us went down in the third quarter and even the cold shower monsoon didn’t touch him.

No traffic whatsoever we took 12 to 275 and missed it all. That was the only highlight of the game in my book.

i agree the nightgame situation was suboptimal.

i came into town with my wife and kids, and took my two older boys to their first game ever in the big house. when we bought the tickets, i was hoping for a noon or 3:30 kickoff. obviously, the night environment was not ideal for kids. but honestly, even with that said, i found it gross altogether. the bathroom lines were insanely long for men in particular (i speculate this is due to all the drunk folks diuresing after pounding their last few beers prior to entry), and there was so much more profanity compared to the last time i went to a game (which was, for the record, another night game vs. notre dame in the hoke era, aka devin gardner for heisman game). several drunk people fell onto my kids walking to the aisles. two women nearby got into a fight and started calling each other "bitches."

there are some games that are OK for night games (like notre dame; as much as i don't like notre dame, their fans tend to be classier), but state seems like not a great choice.

2 night games in one year !? Don't get my hopes up WD !

Edit. Sorry for the double post. I'm just excited at the thought of another amazing day like yesterday. Night games are so fun. I NEVER hate on anyone for not going to Uofm and being a fan. But because of this WD is out of touch. The students and players all love Night games.

that's cool; glad you enjoyed it and nice to hear your perspective. just wish the school could announce what games are night games at the beginning of the season so those who don't live nearby can plan accordingly to not come to those games if they are not ideal for them

think this is more of a circumstantial-hindsight thing. It turned out they had all day to play the game in awesome weather, but instead had to wait all day for the bad weather to roll in and kind of nueter the game. Obviously that could not have been known when it was scheduled nor do I know that it would have mattered, but standing outside in the sunshine (for hours) while seeing the radar gradually become doom seemed rather ridiculous for all involved.

for a long time leading up to it.  They had no idea what the weather would be months out.  Same thing could have happened if they had the game at noon.

my point is that the perspective of people judging the night game experience is likely tainted by the fact that had this particular game had been played at noon or 3:30 the weather would have been perfect. I’m not saying anybody could have known in advance, it just sucks how it played out.

Not really a night game issue, but watching on TV I noticed how dark parts of the stands are.

I never noticed while actually being in the stadium, but it gave a really interesting "drama stage" like appearance to the field because at times the entire upper bowl of the Big House would be pitch black almost.

Interesting lighting system they use for the Big House.

a sporting event...inconceivable.  I say they move the big games to Friday mornings at 8:30.  All the college kiddos will still be passed out from Thirsty Thursday night.

I was on the golf course by noon, and while things were definitely more crowded, "fighting-wise" it no worse than other MSU games, or even OSU games.

Regarding drunk people, they're going to get hammered if it's either 12pm or 8pm. There's always going to be that 1 person in every section who didn't control themselves, but yesterday wasn't too bad.

The night kickoff was fine, and I hope Michigan has more of them in the future

TEAM NOON 4 LIFE

Harbaugh wants to play at noon. Brown does too.

The mouthbreathers got their precious night game and it went about as well as the sale of poopied flavored lollipops would go.

Play at fucking noon.
