The Brandon Peters Decision
October 8th, 2017 at 10:30 AM ^
Hard to disagree -- but I am worried that the inference to be drawn from all this is that Peters is measurably worse than O'Korn who is measurably worse than Speight. Utter speculation -- but I'm a bit worried if correct.

You are likely correct. There is a reason JOK was #2 and Peters #3. Simply that Speight > O'korn who is > Peters. Speight is a much better game manager than JOK and a game manager is what was needed for a win yesterday. That and Isacc not to drop the fucking ball as a 5th yr senior on a play that should never cause you to fumble.

The way Speight has played if he had been in the game against MSU, I think we loose even worse.

Given what this fan base has seen happen with Gardner, Speight, and O’Korn when they get stuck behind a bad OL, all Peters or McCaffrey is going to learn is how to get happy feet and bad habits.

Peters will get hurt quickly playing behind this line.

From what I have heard/read, the problem with Peters is his "lack of command" in the huddle. It is obvious that he has the physical talent to be a better option that Speight/O'Korn but he is apparently struggling in some non-physical aspect. I feel he should be given a chance to improve on this apparent weakness in game action. If he still can't overcome whatever this problem is then UM can always go back to O'Korn if they feel they have no better option.

I heard that his je ne sais quoi is low.
But seriously, it's too soon to write-off Peters. The word on him coming in was that he was raw, having not worked with a QB guru like some others.

Crawford is just not getting it done. He just doesn't make any plays. He can't go up with a defender and come down with the ball. We have had guys that can make those plays going back to Roundtree and Hemingway and then onto Chesson/Darboh. Right now we just don't have a jump ball guy that can make a play.

This is the same logic that gave us O'Korn over Speight. Now we know why Harbaugh chose Speight instead of O'Korn. We need to trust and believe that Harbaugh is going to go with the guy who gives us the best chance to win.

JOK is not good. Go ahead and stick with him and this team will end up 7-5 or 6-6 at best. Makes bad decisions such as throwing into coverage and taking sacks when he should throw it away. He gets happy feet right away or holds on way too long. He's atrocious, probably the worst quarterback on our roster. No, I will not simply trust in Harbaugh. I have eyes and he is fallible just like the rest of us. Peters needs to start if he is ever going to play here. If not, he might as well transfer next season so we can go straight to McCaffrey.

The best chance to win in 2017 or the best chance to win in future seasons? The current state of the offense rules out a great season this year. Which means this year is about the future and that future will not have O'Korn in it. I mean fine, stick with O'Korn through PSU. If you beat IN and PSU then great. But once you have a 2nd conference loss, this season is effectively done.
