NSIAP: Inside Michigan Football: Pre MSU

Submitted by The Fugitive on

Fellas are getting ready to open up a can of whoop ass on MSU.

Here is my scorching hot snowflake: Purdue is better than MSU.  Once O'Korn settled in against their aggressive (ahem, dirty) defense we rattled off 21 unanswered points and never looked back.  Once we got the lead it was over.

I look for State's defense to play as aggressive (ahem, dirty) as Purdue and their offense to get shut down.  If we are prepared for fakes on special teams, we will control all 3 phases.

Michigan wins 29-11.

this is the first time since I began really following Michigan (during the Lloyd Carr era) that I am more familiar with the names of stars on the defense than on the offense.

Two years in a row leading the nation on D after graduating 10 starters? That is insane!

With our defense.  I question your loyalty.  They may prevent a blowout on sheer rivalry emotion, but at the end of the day, the cream will rise.  O'Korn will do enough and our D will destroy them.

GO BLUE!!

a field goal at some point before the final 5 minutes of the game.  That is when Sparty will score a not-so-face-saving touchdown with a successful 2 point conversion.  Gotta lose with dignity, ya know?

we score 3 touchdowns, make 2 FGs, and the defense records a safety in the endzone where I sit :)

and if they are better than MSU as the OP suggested, why would there be the same margin of victory? How many points better is Purdue than MSU, and how many points is home field advantage worth?

I'm actually a little bit nervous about Saturday. MSU played ND tough outside of two, "Sparty NOOOO!!!" plays. ND played Georgia well, and Georgia is playing well. WMU played USC tough and Sparty beat them convincingly.

They marched down on MSU on first drive of the game and even after the pick six they still moved the ball pretty well on MSU. ND was on cruise control in the second half.

When ND wanted to score they did.

They went up 35-10 and packed it in on both sides of the football. They could've scored 49+ if they felt so inclined. Nearly half of MSU's yards were acquired when the game was already over. Just stop.

Regarding Iowa/PSU: It's hard as fuck to win in Iowa City under the lights.  Michigan knows something about that.

Regarding Iowa/MSU: Iowa was down 17-7 midway through the third when Nate Stanley, scrambling deep in MSU territory, goes to throw for a TD and has the ball slip right as he's starting his throwing motion. The ball wobbles and goes right into the arms of an MSU defender.  Also I'm sure they were still emotionally hungover from the week before as they sleptwalked to a 14-0 first quarter deficit.
