He is an idiot. My goodness. Rod answered the question like 4 times, and then he gets his family involved. He is a jerk just like the FOX ppl said.
December 21st, 2008 at 11:32 PM ^
I agree.
He should have asked instead, "why is it that Joe Barry is the worst DC in the history of football?"
December 21st, 2008 at 11:19 PM ^
Parker is a dirtbag. Absolutely disgraceful that he is allowed to represent Detroit. Speaks to the standard of the city and the standard of the media. Parker shouldn't be employed.
December 21st, 2008 at 11:21 PM ^
but he won't. This jackass is the EXACT reason the sports newspaper business is dying. Nobody likes getting tormented by their hometown media on a regular basis, and Detroit has gotten worse and worse about this.
December 22nd, 2008 at 12:15 AM ^
I found out that a lot of Lions fans just follow the team to make fun of them...by yelling the same thing over and over again for four quarters. There's definitely folks out there who like reading these whiny, negative articles.
That said, I thought Rod's joke was pretty funny. Too bad you could tell he decided last night he was going to say that since the comment didn't really make sense after Marinelli assumed responsibility for the defense.

...massive tool.
December 21st, 2008 at 11:31 PM ^
I have to admit, being a long time Lions fan and ashamed to see my Lions as the worst in the history of the NFL, I am impressed how Rod Marinelli handled himself with Parker's stupidity and class-less behavior. Marinelli has been poised all throughout this season and has not made an excuse. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sure he belongs as a NFL head coach but I do respect him during this terrible season.
December 22nd, 2008 at 8:46 AM ^
I respect the hell out of him. He's in the wrong job but but is a great person
December 21st, 2008 at 11:41 PM ^
As much as Rod cusses up and down that sideline, I am surpised he didn't drop an FU right there. And then beat his A$$ because you know Rod has "Old Man Strength". After losing my 15th straight, I would want to fight. Parker gave him every reason to throw down. Shockingly funny though.....Suprised he did not go Hal Mcrae......
December 21st, 2008 at 11:48 PM ^
Can someone please elaborate as to what happened. I didn't record the game so I don't know what this thread is about.
December 21st, 2008 at 11:55 PM ^
After the game at Marinelli's presser, Parker asked him, "Do you wish your daughter had married a better defensive coordinator?"
Just a real POS thing to ask by a real POS guy.
December 21st, 2008 at 11:56 PM ^
Rob Parker repeatedly asked Marinelli about why the defense coordinator still had a job. Marinelli answered him repeatedly, saying that he (Marinelli) runs all the meetings and that he (Marinelli) is to blame. Parker then made a comment about Marinelli's family
December 22nd, 2008 at 12:25 AM ^
Rob Parker is just looking for that insanity moment, the Wayne Fontz blow up. What a hack.
December 22nd, 2008 at 12:30 AM ^
I find it embarrassing that he writes for a Detroit paper but has a New York radio show.
December 22nd, 2008 at 12:42 AM ^
its too bad too, because i used to like Parker and The Man.
December 22nd, 2008 at 8:35 AM ^
Mark Wilson made that show... to my mind, Parker only showed up to say "MAHHHHHHRK!" or in the earlier days "GO TO STARK-HICKEY!"
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:05 AM ^
here is the link for those who didn't see it on tv.

rob parker is a low pos.
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:23 AM ^
I'm glad the Fox guys called him on it, that was really unnecessary.
There really is no place for that as a professional.
He tries to justify it here:

Backpedal, backpedal, backpedal. Detroit really deserves better than Parker, Valenti, Foster, and all the other douchebags in the local sports media.
December 22nd, 2008 at 2:28 AM ^
And I quoth:
"...I have asked Marinelli on numerous occasions if he's going to fire his son-in-law.
Every week, Marinelli says the same thing.
"No.""
Week after week of the same inquiry with the same response. Impressive. And this is where the eagle soars:
"It's almost a running joke. A news conference isn't complete unless I ask it."
This guy makes Mark May look humble. How freaking self-inflated a statement is that? I think he is on to something ... but the joke is on him.
December 22nd, 2008 at 5:02 AM ^
I can't miss an opportunity to trash this clown. I can't think of a sports personality from Detroit I disdain more. I don't remember seeing a single article of his I ever remotely liked or agreed with. His questions have no logic and he's just trying to make a spectacle of things. Is Joe Barry the secret root of all the Lions woes. Why would firing Joe Barry with a week left in the season help anything? Garbage. The way he uses his "moles" to say anything he wants and nobody seems to care is infuriating. Especially when so-called journalists scoff and mock the internet for being worse than tertiary.
What pisses me off most is parker always showing up on espn. Why do they have to pick the worst Detroit has to offer. I wish the news would have fired him to save money instead of cutting off delivery.
December 22nd, 2008 at 8:29 AM ^
ought to be thrown butt naked into the Detroit River this morning. Maybe Joe Dumars will bail him out of that, too, just like his book deal.
December 22nd, 2008 at 9:31 AM ^
Does anybody think Rob Parker's mother wishes she had given birth to a better columnist?
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:59 AM ^
I think Parker also was the one who reported that MSU's backup QB was involved in the big brawl (you know, the one that MSU never suspended anyone for) between the football and hockey teams.
Except said QB was a couple hours away at the time. Unless MSU's backup QB is The Flash or can teleport (in which case the entire Big Ten is fucked for the next few years, and also in which case I wonder why the hell they were still playing Hoyer), that made it pretty impossible for him to have been involved.
Parker sucks.
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:11 AM ^
Not just a couple hours away... at church with his parents. Nice "reporting".
December 22nd, 2008 at 5:18 PM ^
an idiot calls you an idiot. (Referring to Bradshaw calling Parker an idiot on Fox)

Is Rob Parker gay or is this a wiki joke?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Parker_(sports_journalist)
Rob Parker (born 1964 in New York City) is a homosexual sports columnist for the Detroit News, who also co-hosts a radio show on WEPN with Brandon Tierney.
December 23rd, 2008 at 10:40 AM ^
I'm assuming that's some creative Wiki-editing.
