Michigan at 7th in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll

Georgia moves ahead of us to 6th. Penn State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State are 4th, 8th, and 9th, respectively.

Georgia had jumped us last week, so we slide up one with the USC loss. Penn State is still at 4th, while Wisconsin (9th) and Ohio State (10th) also move up one spot.

Right now, I could see arguments for both WSU and TCU being ranked ahead of us.

Unless, JOK actually proves to be the consistent force the offense needs, I think #9 seems more reasonable, but as low as #11 would not have shocked me.

Why wouldn’t you care about being over rated? If that’s the case that means we are definitely worse than the 7th best team in the country. That is not something I want to be proven true.

Shutting out Tennessee in their own stadium 41-0 a week after beating Mississippi State 31-3 shows, at the very least, that they're more than taking care of business, compared to disappointing outings for us against Air Force and Cincinnati.

Our defense is perhaps the best unit in the country on either side of the ball, and we have what may very well be a generational talent at kicker, but until our offense shows consistency (and early returns with O'Korn are encouraging on that end), putting Georgia over us seems only reasonable. Thankfully, if we take care of business, it won't matter, whereas Georgia has an Alabama problem.

Agreed. And Cinci and Air Force have proven to not be very good teams.

Air Force has 232 yards against us.
They had 253 against San Diego State
They gave up 56 to New Mexico. New Mexico!! We scored 29.
They are 1-3 with a win over VMI

Cincy is 2-3 with one win over FBS opponents.
They had 200 yards against us.
They had 248 against Austin Friggin Peay.

Just have some concerns that we have played some terrible teams, ones that likely will not get to 6 wins and win struggled against both.

At least in my mind it is.

IMO if you're not in the top 15 right now, you're pretty much out. And personally, I don't think any team 11-15 is good enough to run the table the rest of the way, so I'm looking at the top 10.

I've got Bama and Clemson in.

Whoever survives the B1G (Michigan) is #3 =)

Oklahoma/TCU winner, wins out and is #4.

...question. What happens if Bama and Georgia are both undefeated going into the matchup in Atlanta and UGA wins close? In this awful year of the SEC...would we really get 2 SEC teams?!

Curious, so you are thinking that if Georgia is undefeated and beats an undefeated Bama team in the SEC championship that both teams are in?

IMHO not a lock, but it depends on the other conferences.  If PAC-12 champ is undefeated and B1G champ is undefeated or one loss (strenght of conference) I doubt it.  They will consider that game a play in and part of the playoffs.  Interesting thought!

i think we're getting some extra air we might not deserve.  now if 2nd half-purdue-o'korn plays that way again on saturday then yeah, we deserve that ranking.  if he struggles though, we might be in for a bumpy and short-lived ride in the top 10.

factor still scares me. He looked better at Purdue than Speight has at any point this season. However, I think "bad O'Korn" is considerably worse than "bad Speight". This coming Saturday should reveal a lot about the entire team, but Michigan's offense in particular. Hopefully JOK is the guy we saw in the second half last week.

im in the same nervous boat. he looked like a baller threading that inch perfect pass between three defenders. if that was just a little off, INT city. JOK is walking a very fine line. i hope he keeps it up, but im scared some of these close plays could be disasterous.

no clue how michigan will play against the meat of our schedule.

no clue how psu will play against us.

osu is osu, they'll be tough.

beat psu and then the wisky game doesn't matter.

On our schedule remain. PSU, Wisc and OSU. If we win two of three, I will be extremely happy. Win one and I think that is about right. We should play somewhere warm in January.
