Michigan at 7th in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll
Georgia moves ahead of us to 6th. Penn State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State are 4th, 8th, and 9th, respectively.
AP: http://collegefootball.ap.org/poll
Georgia had jumped us last week, so we slide up one with the USC loss. Penn State is still at 4th, while Wisconsin (9th) and Ohio State (10th) also move up one spot.

We won't get much respect until we show a multi game improvement in our offense.
But our D is so sezzy....
October 1st, 2017 at 2:06 PM ^
I'm a little confused - we're ranked #7 in the nation in both polls, despite having had a fairly bleh offense all year. That feels a lot like respect to me. Indeed, I'm more worried about us being over-rated than being disrespected right now.
October 1st, 2017 at 5:30 PM ^
Right now, I could see arguments for both WSU and TCU being ranked ahead of us.
Unless, JOK actually proves to be the consistent force the offense needs, I think #9 seems more reasonable, but as low as #11 would not have shocked me.
October 1st, 2017 at 11:06 PM ^
Why wouldn’t you care about being over rated? If that’s the case that means we are definitely worse than the 7th best team in the country. That is not something I want to be proven true.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:43 PM ^
We'll get respect if we beat Penn State.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:59 PM ^
We won’t get respect until we beat OSU and the refs.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:09 PM ^
Fsu is 5th best in the state of Florida
October 1st, 2017 at 1:11 PM ^
Also, Notre Dame.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:59 PM ^
Fuck Penn State while you’re at it.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:16 PM ^
Clemson, based on their schedule to this point, should be ranked ahead of Alabama...other than that, this poll is fine
October 1st, 2017 at 1:24 PM ^
Shutting out Tennessee in their own stadium 41-0 a week after beating Mississippi State 31-3 shows, at the very least, that they're more than taking care of business, compared to disappointing outings for us against Air Force and Cincinnati.
Our defense is perhaps the best unit in the country on either side of the ball, and we have what may very well be a generational talent at kicker, but until our offense shows consistency (and early returns with O'Korn are encouraging on that end), putting Georgia over us seems only reasonable. Thankfully, if we take care of business, it won't matter, whereas Georgia has an Alabama problem.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:27 PM ^
Happened when they hired Brady Hoke to coach their DL.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:47 PM ^
Exacerbated when he hired Hoke.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:04 PM ^
Hoke will not be in the mix for those upcoming LSU and Nebraska HC jobs...
October 1st, 2017 at 1:33 PM ^
Agreed. And Cinci and Air Force have proven to not be very good teams.
Air Force has 232 yards against us.
They had 253 against San Diego State
They gave up 56 to New Mexico. New Mexico!! We scored 29.
They are 1-3 with a win over VMI
Cincy is 2-3 with one win over FBS opponents.
They had 200 yards against us.
They had 248 against Austin Friggin Peay.
Just have some concerns that we have played some terrible teams, ones that likely will not get to 6 wins and win struggled against both.
October 1st, 2017 at 4:52 PM ^
Michigan played three games with no QB. They played almost a full game with one. See the difference.
October 1st, 2017 at 9:26 PM ^
Beat ASU and Stanford. They are 5-0 and must be decent!
October 1st, 2017 at 2:02 PM ^
is our defense best though?
October 1st, 2017 at 2:41 PM ^
Georgia ahead of Michigan makes sense, though I would argue that beating Miss St. looks far less impressive after both them and LSU looked terrible for 2 weeks in a row now.
October 1st, 2017 at 4:35 PM ^
If we can somehow harness this lightning, channel it into the flux capacitor, it just might work.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:24 PM ^
and we'll get our spect.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:42 PM ^
Exactly. Take care of business and we get into the top 4. The biggest obstacle for us is us. If can get out if our own way we'll be fine.
Big IF with such a dicey QB and OL situation though.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:26 PM ^
but we need to win out to get in the playoff. I'm optimistic our offense is gonna start percolatin'. And I think we can take Wisconsin. PSU? OSU? We will soon see!
October 1st, 2017 at 2:44 PM ^
Wisconsin is the only game of those three where losing doesn't really matter. Losing big at Wisconsin could detriment Michigan's national image, but I still see the season coming down to PSU and OSU.
October 1st, 2017 at 4:52 PM ^
It's called divisional play.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:43 PM ^
With PSU. OSU, and Wiscy on our schedule, we'll get to prove our worth. Nobody will remember anything about Cinn or AF.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:45 PM ^
We won. That is all anyone will remember.
October 1st, 2017 at 4:36 PM ^
something like 31-0. Just lock down Barkley and if there is one man that can make that happen it's Coach Don Brown.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:33 PM ^
Look about right.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:36 PM ^
Troy with 9 votes.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:47 PM ^
At least in my mind it is.
IMO if you're not in the top 15 right now, you're pretty much out. And personally, I don't think any team 11-15 is good enough to run the table the rest of the way, so I'm looking at the top 10.
I've got Bama and Clemson in.
Whoever survives the B1G (Michigan) is #3 =)
Oklahoma/TCU winner, wins out and is #4.
...question. What happens if Bama and Georgia are both undefeated going into the matchup in Atlanta and UGA wins close? In this awful year of the SEC...would we really get 2 SEC teams?!
October 1st, 2017 at 2:00 PM ^
One loss bama would likely be in
October 1st, 2017 at 2:23 PM ^
Curious, so you are thinking that if Georgia is undefeated and beats an undefeated Bama team in the SEC championship that both teams are in?
IMHO not a lock, but it depends on the other conferences. If PAC-12 champ is undefeated and B1G champ is undefeated or one loss (strenght of conference) I doubt it. They will consider that game a play in and part of the playoffs. Interesting thought!
October 1st, 2017 at 3:07 PM ^
In that scenario I think the committee would put a one-loss Bama team in over an undefeated Pac-12 team. But I don't think there will be an undefeated Pac-12 team this year.
October 1st, 2017 at 5:39 PM ^
More likely OU or TCU is undefeated. If so, no B1G team. I don't see that happening unless OSU wins the B1G and has 1 or 2 losses.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:48 PM ^
i think we're getting some extra air we might not deserve. now if 2nd half-purdue-o'korn plays that way again on saturday then yeah, we deserve that ranking. if he struggles though, we might be in for a bumpy and short-lived ride in the top 10.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:51 PM ^
factor still scares me. He looked better at Purdue than Speight has at any point this season. However, I think "bad O'Korn" is considerably worse than "bad Speight". This coming Saturday should reveal a lot about the entire team, but Michigan's offense in particular. Hopefully JOK is the guy we saw in the second half last week.
October 1st, 2017 at 3:01 PM ^
im in the same nervous boat. he looked like a baller threading that inch perfect pass between three defenders. if that was just a little off, INT city. JOK is walking a very fine line. i hope he keeps it up, but im scared some of these close plays could be disasterous.
October 1st, 2017 at 4:44 PM ^
"if that was just a little off, INT city."
Is what he/she/they said about almost every pass thrown in college football.
October 1st, 2017 at 4:12 PM ^
If you see bad O'Korn then be prepared for either Peters or McCaffrey

October 10th, 2017 at 1:04 PM ^
whatdya know!? Bummer....
October 1st, 2017 at 1:55 PM ^
I'd move Georgia ahead of Penn State. Their resume is FAR better than ANY team PSU has beaten.
Otherwise, I see no issues with this.
October 1st, 2017 at 1:59 PM ^
no clue how michigan will play against the meat of our schedule.
no clue how psu will play against us.
osu is osu, they'll be tough.
beat psu and then the wisky game doesn't matter.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:12 PM ^
Thanks, Southern California!
October 1st, 2017 at 2:22 PM ^
Thank the Wazzu Cougs and their Pac-12 record breaking quarterback. If WSU beats UW and loses say to the Ducks, this might be the year that 2 Big Ten teams make the playoff.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:25 PM ^
2 ways of saything the same thing.
October 1st, 2017 at 2:15 PM ^
On our schedule remain. PSU, Wisc and OSU. If we win two of three, I will be extremely happy. Win one and I think that is about right. We should play somewhere warm in January.
