Wooooo! Sims 20/20!

Just watched Sims get his 20th rebound with about 10 seconds to go. Congrats to the man. On the other hand, we sucked pretty hard in the second half. Grady made two clutch 3s after they got within 9 or so. Definitely looked like a mental break. Edit: Just looked at the box score on SI.com and they credit Sims with only 19 rebounds. Commentators on BTN said 20. Going with BTN/ESPN.

I was not impressed with tonights victory. Sims was the only bright spot on the floor for the most part. The shooting was pathetic. Attempted about 40 3's against Florida Gulf Coast???? I would have thought we would have been able to take the ball to the basket with a bit more ease. It will be a long Big 10 season if there are many more performances like this one tonight.

Anyone think Coach intended for a lot of 3s to be taken? I mean, Florida Gulf is a gimme, right? Why not use the game to straighten out some kinks. Shoot for percentages. Maybe that's what all the 3s were about. I didn't see the game though, I have no idea. I'm just saying it's not unusual to use a gimme game to assess player strengths; and maybe coach wanted the high shot total to get his players' shot percentages.

Liked to see Sims' night, but I agree, the team stunk it up in the second half. I totally forgot Reed Baker transferred to FGCU...funny to hear his name, plus he played pretty well! Good for him.

TheVictors97 - I agree completely. This wasn't us running Beilein's offense. This was us making poor decisions with the ball and jacking up lots of contested threes with 30 seconds on the shot clock and no one underneath. We played like Amaker was still on the sidelines.

First, it is very hard for a 18, 19, or 20 year old to go through exams, not play for a week and then play 2 games in 48 hours. I was at the game and thought much of the shooting attrition was due to dead legs. Second, our three best players were 6-14 from three and 12-26 overall. Not exactly bad shooting, not great but not bad. For the record the three best are MH, LLP, DS. Last but not least, Savannah State. I simply wont say anything else. It has to be exciting to get ready to play a FGC in a half filled Crisler on a monday night. The thing that separates this team from those of Amaker, is Amaker's team would have lost this game, without question. For those of you the follow bball closely. Everyone knew if M shoots less than 40%, commits 15 turnovers and gets 6 points out of their best player they lose every time under Amaker. So to compare this game to those of Amaker is probably not fair or worthwhile. Remember, that nobody remembers how much you beat FGC by in march, and everybody knows that from the coach to the kids, the most important thing is that they won comfortably, with their best player spending most of the night on the bench and not having a particularly good night when he played.

In the past, if Michigan got poor shooting and hardly any scoring from their best player, they lose, hands down. They won this game, by 17. It's not the best, but lets chill a little bit. We're not exactly UNC at this point, you know.
