Chase Winovich Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week
Congrats, Chase!
As discussed in the Rashan Gary vs Purdue thread, Winovich and Devin Bush are destroying qb's and rb's due to the double teams Hurst and Gary are facing. This defense is a monster right now even with the relative lack of secondary targets so far this year.

Doing the job. Fun to watch.

National Dude of the Week

Awesome but let's not forget the DLs who are creating thesr opps by tying up 2 and 3 blockers each!

Awesome accomplishment for Chase and the whole defense!

With Chase and Devin killing it this year, I find I like watching our defense more than watching our offense.

Love watching this guy play!!

I like how there's two random hands holding Chase's jersey. I wonder if holding was called on that play

And probably not

"Chase Winovich is the seventh Michigan Player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the third defensive honoree (Brandon Herron, LB, Sept. 4 2011, and Jabrill Peppers, Sept. 18 2016)

I just wonder if we are going to go back to a 4 line front at all this year, and if we do who comes off the field from the backside?
September 25th, 2017 at 10:45 AM ^
Furbush comes off. We've seen this for a few plays here and there when Mone comes back in for a four man front.
September 25th, 2017 at 10:47 AM ^
If you made me guess, we'd probably head back to a four man front more when we line up opposite pro-style teams that want to run down your throat. So I'm guessing we'll be seeing some four man fronts against MSU and Wisconsin.
But against every other team, it wouldn't surprise me if we went with a three man front the rest of the way to get some additional speed on the field.

That's great for him. He is very deserving.

Is more Viking, Gladiator or Terminator. Also, reminds me of an old WWF guy but can't pinpoint. Anyone help? Dude is balling this year!!
GO BLUE!!

I'm going viking. When he puts his fists on top of his helmet after a good play, I assume he's mimicking viking horns.

Whether it's this year or next, if he keeps playing like this he is heading for a BIG payday in the NFL.
I don't know if he's that "prototypical DE" teams are always looking for in their first round picks, but he won't stay on the boards too terribly long.

Chase and Gary got the handshake right for this award.....

killing it this year! Wow! Love watching him, Gary, Hurst and Bush absolutely terrorize quarterbacks. Fun time to be a Michigan fan.

I know he's helped by Gary needing double teams... but Chase has been beastly going back to last year. Glad to see others are seeing it too.

I would hate to be an opponent's offensive staff:
"So we're gonna double Hurst"
"Of course"
"And we're gonna double Gary"
"Sounds good so far"
"And we're gonna double Winovich"
"Wait what now??'
"And we're gonna keep the back in to block Bush"
"I mean, in a perfect world..."
"And we're gonna chip whoever's the Viper on each play"
"Dammit man there's only so many guys on the field"
"So, single block on Hurst?"
"Are you crazy?!"
"Single block on Gary"
"Fuck that"
"Single block on Winovich?"
"No. Hell no."
"Look, just tell me who you want hitting the QB"
"Sigh...well, if it's Winovich the QB might live through it..."
"And Bush."
"What the hell?! No"
"So we don't need a running back in the flat?"
"Sigh...let Bush through...and update my resume for me..."

Is better and more versatile than last years...

Chase also does a great interview. Next to Don Brown, probably my favorite.
