The whole analysis is BS.
September 21st, 2017 at 7:32 PM ^
wasn't there a similar list a year or two ago where Michigan was #2.
these lists are all BS.
depends on who is compiling the data and what is weighted more.

Hopefully many many years from now, it goes in the Louvre or at least the Smithsonian.
September 21st, 2017 at 7:50 PM ^
Total Bullshit.
September 21st, 2017 at 9:21 PM ^
Yup. Michigan made over $97 million in football revenue last year, which was $11 million more than OSU. It says in the article revenue from each program was weighted heavily in his final analysis. Uh, ok.

Given the source, I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you!

I'm almost positive that's him with the "Obama Hope" treatment applied to it. Considering the staffer was handed a phone to take picture of him, I assume that guy passes for celebrity in Jersey.

Rutgers is that rather useless thing that your neighbor is willing to sell to you for $100, but if you throw in a set of tires and some decent rims, he'll knock it down to $60 and call it good. He won't give you the manual though, and you need to provide your own batteries.

Fuck Ohio st let's roll these fools!
September 21st, 2017 at 7:59 PM ^
without Dave Brandon and his crack marketing staff around to peddle our block M to the highest bidders? So glad those other insignificant assets - current/former players, students, alumni, excellence and tradition - have helped keep our value high.
September 21st, 2017 at 8:00 PM ^
LSU and Oklahoma make little sense to me. Both are at best slightly outside major metro areas. LSU doesn't have much in terms long-running historic value/assets. Neither are attached to somewhat strong academic schools that bring in the big money donors/fans.
September 21st, 2017 at 9:03 PM ^
Baton Rouge TV stations followed the team bus to New Orleans for the BCS title game in 2012. We're talking live, on-the-air, from a helicopter.
They basically own the state. The Saints are #2 in popularity, but they're a distant second. Ask Les Miles what he think would be easier, coaching LSU or the Saints.
September 21st, 2017 at 9:16 PM ^
OKC is 20 minutes away from Norman, while Tulsa and Dallas/Fort Worth is only 2.5-3 hours away. Tons of OU students come from those areas.
September 21st, 2017 at 8:10 PM ^
Fake news.
September 21st, 2017 at 8:16 PM ^
if osu is #1
then it's dumb and i hate it
so there
September 21st, 2017 at 10:28 PM ^
Damn, not to be a dick just because Ohio state is a pile of shit and maybe I feel this way because Ohio state is a pile of shit but their marketing and logos are awful. Do you ever look at something like a Tampa Bay buccaneers hat and think, damn that would suck to like that team? That hat looks like shit. That's seriously how Ohio state stuff looks. Stupid logo, average color scheme that's pretty boring and shitty intangibles. Cool, your logo is basically a chocolate nut. Dumb.

September 21st, 2017 at 10:21 PM ^
If I have a business - I can sell that. Which makes it relatively easy to assign a value to my business. Same for a house, a car, a piece of land, or a collection of baseball cards. I can also sell my services, I have value in that respect too.
Can't exactly sell a college football program.
The value of a college football team, it seems to me, is really in the revenue produced. That alone (or that VERY heavily weighted) should really be the metric, right?
September 21st, 2017 at 10:48 PM ^
Exactly.

Associate Professor at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus? Total enrollment was 1628 in 2009. Colors: Black, Red, Crimson, Old Gold. Now this seems like a reliable source for this type of article.

Not buying these numbers at all
September 22nd, 2017 at 12:51 AM ^
I don't care where we are on this list. Keep winning and let's bring home a championship!
September 22nd, 2017 at 6:28 AM ^
I very much doubt OSU is almost double the value of Michigan.
September 22nd, 2017 at 7:43 AM ^
Not convinced of the findings. Show me the work, to authenticate the rankings. 1.5 billon for osu vs 300+ millon for clemson. Oh yeah I have the most valuable trampaline in my neighborhood its worth 1.2 millon more than my neighbors, because we have more 6 year old total jumps in the last year?? I know its a big suprise last year it was only worth 600 thousand. What a jump, in estmated cost!
September 22nd, 2017 at 10:24 AM ^
Ohio State is "worth" over 600 million dollars more than Michigan? Are the shitters in the Horseshoe made out of solid gold?
