Fire Drevno and hire Jedd Fisch again.
UCLA's offense has been brilliant under him.

But wasn't Rosen much worse (though he was injured) and Speight much better last year? At least he was in the lesser games like these. Rosen has taken an obvious step forward and Speight has taken an obvious step back.

QB is not everything, but I would feel much better about this team if Rosen was the starting QB. We would have a decent shot at a NC.

Indiana consistenly beat OSU's defensive backs doing this route repeatedly. It was one of their only plays that worked that game.

People are (rightfully) on Speight for throwing that OB, but even if he doesn't, Black isn't making that catch. Best case scenario was a PI call. Even a fade needs at least a little separation by the WR.

Whats nice about the fade route is if the WR beats the DB you air it over the top. If the DB is playing over the WR you throw the ball short and to the back shoulder. WR seperation is a luxury here not a necessity. Another great thing about the fade is you can run it out of a 3 step drop.

This is pretty ignorant. Speight is going through the progression. His first or second read is Black. If he is open, he should throw there (and it hit both of his hands, so it was not a bad call). Only if the earlier read is not available, do you check down to Isaac. Watching the TV and doing in on the field is a not at all equivalent.
September 16th, 2017 at 7:51 PM ^
He might be ignorant, but Black wasn't open.

I don't understand how tunnel screen to DPJ is not a regular play for this team.
September 16th, 2017 at 3:16 PM ^
We scored one offensive touchdown, in garbage time, against a military academy with one returning defensive starter. That is unbelievably awful, and Harbaugh should be held accountable.

Then I will ask....how does one hold Harbaugh accountable?
September 16th, 2017 at 3:47 PM ^
Tell him the SEC is in favor of not-scoring in the redzone?

They should get benched for some snaps, like every position should, if struggling.
September 16th, 2017 at 4:51 PM ^
Evans fumbles, and rightfully so, rides the pine. He doesn't even see the field again if not for Isaac getting dinged up. Owenu got pulled twice this year after mistakes and Runyan comes in. Speight's job seems his job no matter what. We learned the limit it takes for a struggling Speight to be pulled is back to back pick 6's.
Harbaugh functions through meritocracy and Speight obviously is earning his starts on the practice field week in and week out. But meritocracy on game day seems to be position specific. When asked QB questions after last week he only drops coach speak, "Speight is our QB, we are forging on." Coach speak to media is fine but its getting to the point where I wonder if there is some stubborness regarding Speight and Harbaugh.

So . . . you're saying we hold Harbaugh accountable by benching him?

he said 'Held accountable', which seems to infer Coach should be penalized or something. That at the very least required, in some football court of his peers, justify the playcalling. I don't know how well you know the good General but your opinion of what he meant and what he actually wrote are not the same.
