"Your (football) parking assignment for 2010 and 2011 is as follows: Purple."

Submitted by IUandUofM on

So this will be my first year as a season ticket holder and I received a letter stating that my parking assignment for 2010 AND 2011 will be the purple lot. They attached a map that shows Pioneer High School is the purple lot.

I was curious to know what the tailgating atmosphere is at Pinoeer, and if people were aware that they are locking down assignments for the next two years.

The map also showed new areas for stadium suite owners "Champions East & Champions North" and blocked out areas for the basketball player development center construction zones.

Technically, no alcohol there, since it's a public school, but uh... I've seen people in there with big banners for a particular beer brand set up, so you won't have a problem. Have you never been in there?

It's a great spot, I have been tailgating in a reserved spot there the last couple years. Like Blaze said there is a "no alcohol" rule on the school grounds, but I have never seen it enforced. I would imagine if you were too out of hand, then it might be invoked.

Great tailgate spot. Pour it in a cup or have a beer coozie if you are really worried about it. We tailgate there every home game and it is wild. You will not be disappointed.

I, and the four cars full of people I tailgate with all just got switched from the Red Lot to the Purple Lot and I've never gone out there to tailgate before. All I know about it is that (a) its Pioneer's lot and I assumed booze would be an issue
(b) it looks packed in there, is there any room to toss a football around
(c) How early do you have to get there to get a reasonable spot which I would define as somewhere in that field on the corner of Main and Stadium rather than closer to the school. It strikes me that most of that field gets eaten up by campers who get there the night before.

For what its worth, the Red Lot, which probably only held about 75 cars in the first place, is closed for the next two years and it seems like they're shifting all of us out to Pioneer so it may make that lot slightly busier.
