Best thing you saw: Week 2
Another week of entertaining games, including a wake-up call in Ann Arbor. There were definitely some solid finishes with ND-GA and the battle for all the corn and blonde maidens in Iowa the most entertaining. With that…
Non-Michigan: though in a loss, I came away VERY impressed with Phillips (#4) of Western, he of the fumble return and KO return for all of their points. He nearly added a pick to his day. Watching OSU get dismantled for the second time in three games was very enjoyable. The 4th quarter and OT of Iowa – Iowa St. was great theater. However…the one-handed TD catch by GA was the best thing I saw today. Incredible effort.
Michigan: funny how 18- and 19-year olds don’t always bring the same emotion and energy week-to-week. Up 14 early, M looked like it let off the gas because ‘this gonna be easy’. Best thing I saw here was a coachable moment – all within a win – that could prove the difference in keeping this young team’s attention as the games get tougher.
What say you?

Baylor lost again...to UTSA.
September 10th, 2017 at 12:45 AM ^
They were like a 16 pt favorite
September 10th, 2017 at 8:10 AM ^
who Baylor or utsa?
September 10th, 2017 at 12:15 AM ^
Lost by double digits at home and Speight threw a pretty bomb to Kekoa.
September 10th, 2017 at 2:31 AM ^
over to 11W. They're... less than pleased.
So best thing to me is Michigan won. Obvious comment is obvious, but college football is a funny thing. The team probably read too much of their own hype after beating Florida and now have great lessons to learn from a W and on to preparing for 3-0.

I showed that to my son. He asked, "Is that insulting?" Yes, yes it is.

Ballsy move, Mav.
Need more of this attitude in A2- and then back it up!

I just hope I live long enough to see OU play OSU again and see this clip again.

non-Wolverine college football player. May this intelligent and brave young man have a very successful football season. Best of luck Mr. Mayfield!

vote for best thing I saw after this one. Lol. Missed this while attending Stanford at USC. Thank you for sharing sir !

for Heisman...and all the awards! (Except for the ones our own Michigan players contend for).
He just became my favorite non-Michigan college football player of 2017.

OSU and the bottom half of the SEC getting dominated.
September 10th, 2017 at 12:19 AM ^
Baker Mayfield, two pick 6s and OU blondes...not necessarily in that order.
September 10th, 2017 at 12:26 AM ^
I agree, but in the exact opposite order of what you have
September 10th, 2017 at 12:20 AM ^
EMU and OU win. Mayfield plants a flag. Michigan in real jerseys.

Adam Sandler has no idea how to coach, so that was amusing to watch.

he did pretty darn well in the big house with the bare cupboard he inherited. give the dude some credit.
September 10th, 2017 at 10:41 AM ^
Disagree with your disagreement. Cinci had one good drive and a score on a short field other than that they did absolutely nothing. Michigan shot themselves in the foot repeatedly on offense but very little of that had to do with cincinatti. Throw in fickells poor clock management not a good showing for him or the Michigan passing game.
September 10th, 2017 at 12:39 PM ^
agreement with the OP. agreed?
September 10th, 2017 at 10:56 AM ^
however he also apparently graduated from the Andy Reid School of Clock Management
September 10th, 2017 at 12:23 AM ^
Ty Isaac establishing himself in a lead role, and finally giving UM a back that can run a toss play consistently.
More spread looks on offense.
Defense hunkered down and bailed out the offense.
Michigan scored in all 3 phases of the game.

OSU losing two of their last 3 games by double digits.
Literally nothing else compares.
September 10th, 2017 at 12:49 AM ^
OSU was also down to IU at the half in their first game.
September 10th, 2017 at 12:23 AM ^
Flipping channels between osu losing and then the ND QB sacked for the game ending fumble, then that glorious flag plant by mayfield. Sweet

When asked about Pitt, he's quoted as saying "For us, this is just like beating Akron". I hope Narduzzi never forgets that.
OSU and ND losing was pretty sweet too.
September 10th, 2017 at 12:32 AM ^
I hope Akron cleans their clocks someday, before Franklin is fired.
They've lost to Cincinnati, they've lost to Ohio U., they've lost to Toledo. Why not Akron?
September 10th, 2017 at 7:35 AM ^
Don't fall for the catchy headline without any context.
He means it's just like Akron because they prepare the same for every game and respect every opponent equally.
September 10th, 2017 at 8:16 AM ^
Did you see it? He was just being an asshole.

anything less than an insult to Akron and to Pitt. It seemed like the reporters gasped a bit.
September 10th, 2017 at 9:05 AM ^
Franklin followed his initial comments quickly by telling reporters "to interpret that however you want," saying he considers each week like its own Super Bowl for his team.
Even the reporter after he said it said, "Okay, I see what you mean."
He wasn't being an asshole. People are reading the headline, saying OOOHHHH WHAT A JERK, and then not actually paying attention.
Context is a wonderful thing.
September 10th, 2017 at 9:21 AM ^
Disagree. If he wanted people to interpret it as meaning that they consider each week to be a Super Bowl for his team, he would have said that.
By instead saying "interpret that however you want", he is explicitly doing the opposite by deliberately opening up the option for people to take it as a passive-aggressive dig.

Franklin reminds me of my nephew's four-year-old "accidentally" hitting grown men in the groin as they walked by.
Interpret that however you want.
September 10th, 2017 at 10:18 AM ^
And when he realized what an asshole he was being he backtracked a bit.
It's like saying shit that girl is ugly but when you realize she is in the room you say but she better looking than all of her friends and is really sweet.
September 10th, 2017 at 9:33 AM ^
You're making an argument for "context wording" showing he WASN'T being an asshole?? If you go back a little further in what he said:
"Last year for their win it was like the Super Bowl, but for us this was just like beating Akron."
September 10th, 2017 at 10:55 AM ^
James Franklin is an asshole
September 10th, 2017 at 12:27 AM ^
Great teachable moment re the game, nice to have two rivals lose too!
September 10th, 2017 at 12:29 AM ^
Three rivals lost.
Big win for the Huron, er, Eagles, with their first "Power 5" win over SUNJ.
