Hearing the Michigan 'faithful' boo today made me sick. Completely disappointed in that display of 'fandom'.

Expressing yourself by rolling your lips in just before forcing out your foul breath is not okay. If you are not willing to cheer and encourage your team on while they are not performing up to expectations, don't buy a ticket or go to the game. Just because you spend money on entertainment does not entitle you to act that way.

If you want someone to succeed, do you boo them to or do you encourage them to push through and persevere? People forget these are impressionable young men who hear that and are affected by it. Yes, they need to be able to play through adversity. Do you really want to be the cause of that? These players want to hear you cheering loud and proud. Do it.

The masses need to know this is not okay. Don't let anyone in your section get away with this without ridicule. This needs to stop now.

Fans are allowed to express their opinion. Especially paying fans. Not booing isn't going to magically change the product on the field. I guess you have a problem with UCLA fans booing their team last week before they came back and won.

On one hand, I agree with the spirit of your statement that kids shouldn't get booed. On the other, I feel like without fans voicing their displeasure, we'd still have Dave Brandon and Rich Rod. The fact is they're kids playing college football and that means something. I think people should be more forgiving than they might be of a pro team. Booing someone because they're not talented or experienced enough I think is not good,, but booing a lack of effort is fair game.

They aren't pros but they are pretty damn close. Free tuition, room and board, special training facilities, tutors, libraries and food service all at a level a paying student would kill for but aren't allowed to have. Plus, all the glory and trappings that come with it when they win. Well, there's a flip side to that coin.....when you fuck up you hear about it. Just like everyone else in the real world.

Along those lines, former Marquette basketball coach Al McGuire--during his stint as a commentator for NBC--said that amateurs should never be booed.  I think he was right under most circumstances.  (An exception:  commiting a penalty by conduct that endangers the health of another player.)

Negative reinforcement works all the time. This is a simple law of performance. If you don't fear failure you will never succeed. Having 110,000 people remind you that your performance matters is a hell of a motivator. But for you, I'll save your participation trophy in the back of my car.

I am an alum.  I work for a living.  I paid for that ticket to the stadium today.  However I wish to react to each play is entirely up to me.  I have the right to boo.  Why?  BECAUSE I PAID FOR THAT DAMN SEAT.  I earned the right to boo.

Want to see less booing?  Harbaugh needs to get the O-line and Speight to play to their full potential.  Until then, let the booing continue.  I guarantee Harbaugh heard it.  I guarantee Harbaugh will remember it during practice this week.
