Other highlights-
--they are really buying into the "speed" argument as a UF benefit specifically the RBs vs.our D. ---- any of their RBs faster than Dalvin Cook?
--Also talked as if Gary is the ONLY player to worry about on the defense.
Made me think this is more of a "homer" podcast than anything else.

Im not sure about the speed from the 2 true sophmore backs. But their starter is not even known for his speed. He is slippery and bounces off tackles, far more so than a speedy back.
As far a the gary thing, I did not even get that far into the podcast because it was just so homer-y. But, they clearly have done zero research on the line much less the rest of the defense. I mean, the dude next to gary is projected as a first round pick, with many saying he is a top ten guy. But, yeah, its gary and nobody else.

Umm we didn't have Durkin when we boatraced them in the bowl game either. He was already off to Maryland and Greg Mattison was our DC for that game.

didnt read the article...did brown say this is the best job hes ever had or article states its the biggest program hes coached, most talent hes had, etc? just curious. i know brown has said that while hes loved all of his stops and footballs football, m and harbaugh were no brainers and m provides the top competition he always seeks.

It was the article stating that Michigan is the best program he's coached. The point of that line was that he's always had a good defense despite never before having athletes of this caliber.

How do you know that the author is incorrect? I thought it was counterintuitive when I read it, but then, this guy has clearly done more research than I have. Do you have the stats that demonstrate how frequently Don Brown defenses blitz in comparison with other college teams as well as the NFL?
Doesn't mean the blitzes aren't diabolical or effective, but perhaps we've overstated their frequency because we think that's what "aggression" means, when to Brown it means other things as well.

Brown has said himself that he blitzes more often than not. Just for a quick check, I looked at the every snap video vs Wisconsin and saw Michigan bring more than 4 on 6 our of the first 10 snaps.

A few months ago a saw a segment on btn or espn talking about the most attacking defenses in the FBS. Michigan was number 2 with like 52% of the snaps being blitzes. The only school above them was a bad group of 5 team that needed to to account for not havig the athletes to compete without blitzing so much.
In fact, all the top blitzing schools, outside of Michigan, fell in this catagory of small schools doing it out of necessity (outside of Michigan that is). If i remember right, the next closest power 5 school blitzed 10 to 15% less often.
The guy blitzes a lot, hence the Dr. Blitz nickname.

Because he is incorrect. Brown blitzes a ton compared to other teams. Just about every other play is a blitz, which is a lot more than most schools. We were in the top few last year in percentage of blitzes. This guy may present what he says as if he knows what he's talking about, but having the statement that we didn't blitz often with brown is one of the stupidest things I've heard and makes me question just about any other analysis he has.

I cannot recall the numbers exactly, but I do remember the interview shortly after Brown was hired when he was asked the question as to frequency of the blitz. He told Coach H. that he wanted to blitz roughly 50% of the time, to which Coach H. replied, "I was thinking more like 55 %." As stated, these are not exact numbers but they should supply you with the general info you requested. Yes, this is significantly higher than the norm.

I read this article when it first came out over q0 days ago, and if my memory serves, it also states browns base is a 3-4, which is pretty far off too. But, overall, the article was ok, imho.

even with a better coach than it has now hasn't defeated Michigan in any bowl meetings, all in Florida, the idea that all the SEC memes from the past along with the conclusion that having three qbs ready to go are better than one established starter regardless of the players lost from a year ago, is pretty hard to swallow. But then fandom has a way of uprooting rational consideration of first game doubts and performance uncertainty.
From the intangible standpoint, I'll take Harbaugh and Michigan over Florida regardless of the site and circumstances in this contest. I expect Michigan to give up some points but to eventually throttle the Gators.
