I don't disagree...I've always said if you have to, make it a non-conference game.

That said, I wish we NEVER did it, including the bowl game. Give us a preseason exhibition game and do it there. Or go ALL-Maize vs. ALL-Blue in the spring game and auction off the jerseys and donate the money to Mott's Children's Hospital.

But don't do it in the regular season, and if you must...don't do it in a B1G game or the bowl game.

Not really...they're ways to get some brief attention and some extra money.

Championships are recruiting tools.

Bama doesn't use alternates...they seem to do fine. OSU does...they seem to do fine. You know what both have in common? They're pretty good at winning football games.

Jordan Brand itself is a recruiting tool. But one jersey isn't doing much.

Having a high profile coach, a catchy brand, an iconic helmet....and being MICHIGAN is plenty. Having a random alternate isn't going to do anything unless you're Oregon where every game is an alternate.

No one is coming to Michigan because we wore alternate uniforms a ton of time in the Brandon era. I haven't seen that return on investment.

Alternates don't do much for me.  As you pointed out, Michigan has a hell of a lot to offer with the iconic helmet, fight song, tradition, Big House,  strong alumni, 110k + every Saturday that love their Wolverines, etc.   I love the all-whites.  We beat the ass out of the Gators in our all-whites, so why not trot out there this Saturday dressed the same way.  Perhaps there will be some type of negative mental reaction for the Gators that were present for that beat-down.

Dear God, please don't tell me that's Maize and Maize!

My source lol that's all I can give. But, he passed it along as "just something I've heard" rather than the usual statement of fact so I just took it as something that was being considered. Though if it is being considered in August I would assume they have the design ready and the capabilities to deploy it.

Not naming a source doesn't mean no source. FWIW I read it on Scout and might be the same place he read it. But that was about experimenting with it in practice not a game. I would hate maize and maize and can't imagine a way it looks good whatsoever.

I suppose I have to hash this out every time somebody asks on here. I walked on to the team, was on for a cup of coffee, did not stay for a whole year. I had buddies that played all four years. From that time I have player sources that still get info on the team. I am also acquaintances with an assistant strength coach. After I left the team I worked elsewhere in the AD while still a student. I have connections from there that also tell me some ongoings in the football department.

As I've said before, there's a good chance that the "insiders" on the pay sites talk to the same people/circles that I do.

I don't claim to be a umbig11 - he is clearly inside the walls, plugged in. I am just occassionally plugged in to people who are plugged in.

If nothing else, these uniforms are definitely OSHA-compliant. You could work in the municipal right-of-way in these and be sufficiently visible to anyone and there would probably be no safety violations in that respect. If that's what you want in a uniform, these would accomplish that, although I believe they are - as many "alternates" seem to be - a Photoshop phenomenon.
