Chad Henne to start next Jags preseason game

Submitted by lilpenny1316 on

This seems to indicate that Henne will be the Week 1 starting QB.  Usually the third preseason game is used as a dress rehearsal for the regular season.  Hopefully he can string together a good half of football to firmly claim the job.

Good I'm glad Henne may have the opportunity to be a starter again. I hope he makes the best of it, although I don't think the Jags are in any way contenders this season.

I'm rooting for him, but he's had more chances than most backups and hasn't done well. Bortles may well be worse, though. The Sam Darnold sweepstakes just got a little more interesting. Watch out, Jets.

Glad Henne gets another shot, hope he can hang on to it and stay a starter.

I don't follow the Jaguars, what happened to Bortles?  He looked like a promising QB.  Although it's not surprising he didn't become a star because star QBs are so rare, I'm shocked to hear he's fallen behind a career NFL backup.

This offseason and last, the talking heads here kept circling back to the topic of Blake having to work on his mechanics.  At one point, they referred to it as starting over with his release.  Obviously not something you want to see for a guy you drafted in the top five.

I just watched a few minutes of their last game from across the bar, but from what little bit I saw it was painfully obvious that Bortles was not putting it together. Henne on the other hand was light on his feet, looked so much more polished and was laying passes right on the money, which his receivers promptly dropped, but Chad looked good.

But when I did see him play, he has performed well. I live in Jacksonville now, and what I've seen during the pre-season has been promising. He won't light it up, but he might be decent.

Either way I'm super excited to be a Lions AND a Jags fan.....yayyy...

of Todd Collins in the NFL. excellent back who gets thrown a bone here and there to start. Hopefully it clicks for him and he outperforms Todd.

Hope he makes the most of it. Whoever the Jags take with their first round pick next May is going to be Henne's and Bortles' replacement, whether it's Darnold, Rosen, or the kid from Wyoming. Best of luck, Henne.
