OT: New Northwestern facilities

Submitted by jimmyshi03 on

The BTN crew is finishing their B1G West previews this week and are in Evanston today. This included a look at the new football practice facilities, which look pretty great, though not necesarrily desirable come November. Indoor facility not yet complete

Gives it that west coast feel. Great if all your recruiting visits are in Sept. October might be cutting it close, and forget about Nov - Feb.

Those are beautiful facilities. Here in the Chicago area, there was some grumbling about Northwestern allocating lakefront land to football, and a practice facility. But that's pretty nice. Personally, the breeze off the lake would be a welcome thing for practice in August and September. And depending on the day, it wouldn't be bad in October. Beyond that? Dicey.

Who cares the west is irrelevant. Who is going to be the next Wisconsin to lose the championship game 63-0. Hmm probably Wisconsin because they lose it every year. I don't see a west team winning the big ten for at least ten years no matter how great anyone thinks there facilities are. Sorry for being so hateful, but just to many articles about or with buckshits in them. I want osu football takin away from those slobs down there so they literally have nothing.LOL.

'76 was his senior year, and if IIRC they had a surprising amount of talent on his teams, guys that made it in the NFL - greg boykin, pete shaw, randy dean, norm wells among others.  he was invited to 3 different camps and said 'nope.  going to grad school'  a very good decision on big bro's part.

incidentally, i didn't neg you, not that you care too much.

I can only warn not to be seduced by how pretty the campus is. It doesn't feel pretty when it's been -15 with 50 mph winds for a month straight.

Just think of what it'll look like when they finally blow up Norris and build a campus center that 1. takes advantage of the lakefront, and 2. doesn't suck.

It's amazing to me how people in the 1970s looked at the lakefill and the views therein and decided "Yes, let's just build everything out of concrete and only put in tiny windows."

So much of the Northwestern campus' buildings are new developments in the last year or two, with more to come, and thanks in part to getting $10B off from the Lyrica drug patent. The student recreation building that will open in the next year or so with beach access will be the icing on the country club cake.
